"He-... what?" she blinked in disbelief, having some trouble processing what she was hearing. From a magistrate no less. Her face remained blank for quite some time, too much a mix of confusion, sympathy, and raging fiery fury to settle on any one thing. Well, at first anyway. "N-... no need to question him further? All you got was a name! Or half a name, for all we know! No direction no description no location. I understand your desire to spare the lives of your peasants, but what's to stop this fiend from making the same threat to the next villager? Or the next? In saving this one family how many others have you condemned? This only stops when the perpetrator is caught. Not to mention, how do I put my trust in a protector who values heimin over my life?? Kami preserve, my life's dream is falling apart before my eyes and I've barely even started. I need another dip..."
Her rant concluded with utter exhaustion and dismay, she promptly got up, leaving the prostrate man to think on things, and marched off to retrieve a towel and get right back into the hotsprings.

@ Chiharu:
As far as you can tell, Tsuyoshi arrived alone, so he likely didn't run afoul of any nure onago or similar spirits. Maybe it was just a local urban myth? Or maybe he was just clever enough to avoid her spiritual trappings. He didn't address the matter whatsoever. Is it a matter you wish to broach?
(There is no wrong answer to that question, but it determines if I should consider that area "completed" yet or not.)

Chiharu was sitting silently there, unsure if she should follow the Imperial or share some words with her "cla-mate".
After such scene she was just quiet, like if she was no witness of what happened. She felt no need to meddle in other's kharma at this moment.
It took her long to speak:
—"The horizon wasn't so clear after all"

Tsuyoshi winced visibly- but remained as he was throughout it, hands and forehead to the ground. His whole body felt tensed, especially his jaw, as he thought about it- and how it had seemed so much like he was bound to solve it at the moment. He could save he peasants needlessly being slaughtered, catch the stalker, and bring in the schemer behind this single-handedly. Now instead...
He wondered, was he too ambitious? Or had he been weak, just a different kind of coward than his ancestor? His fists clenched, but he didn't move until Chiharu spoke.
"Huhm?" he raised his head, looking at her distant and distracted, then glanced as if to look toward said horizons and shook his head slightly.
"I... suppose they weren't?" He didn't seem to catch her symbolism at the moment, but they had just had a storm a few days past, a big one, and he was in the right kind of melancholy even oblivious.

Since the topic of the ghost girl in Efude is not touched upon by anyone but it was experienced, I will consider the area 'resolved': Area Card A farming village on fertile land, being repopulated after the plague decimated it. Something is spooking the peasants. -Psychofish Your second area has been solved, so everyone earns 1 XP! The XP logs have been updated. -------------------- Ayame has gone off to the hot springs (again) and the two Crane are left waiting in the house. Is there anything anyone wants to do? If not, I will advance the clock until it is the time you leave. I'll need confirmation from all three of you in this thread, please.

Confirmation on my part. Ayame will keep her word, allowing Tsuyoshi to relax for the rest of the day before being ready to head back out the next morning. If this map isn't resolved we'll have to revisit it later? In the meantime the intrepid little Imperial will set coarse for 12 while she tries to decide what to do about the whole assassination situation, stopping by the village on their way so she can pick up Rakurai.

The situation made the shugenja rather uncomfortable. Hher sensei would expect her to offer some spiritual relief, some advice but, she had none in mind. Wisdom dosen't comes easily ...
-Neh, Doji-san, Shinsei once said "When the work is done, wait, wait, bide". Work is done, take your time, reflection brings wisdom, but do not forget to move forward. We are Crane, we seek perfection. If we were already perfect we wouldn't be born into the mortal realm.
Sudden and gently as the breeze, words were spoken again. The shugenja bowed right after:
-If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.
* If nothing else Chiharu excuses herself and leaves. She looks for a small stone, or a piece of wood, something that could be a token from the place and that she could sculpt into a couple of prayer beads.

Tsuyoshi looked back to the shugenja, blinking slowly, and considering her words. It was not reassurance, exactly, but she projected something he did not have at the moment- peace, and a sense of clarity and direction. It was enough. He clapped his hands together, as in prayer, and bowed his head.
"Thank you, Chiharu-san."
After she left, he would remain- taking some time to pray, in general but focusing on Ebisu, since they were not only in his temple but it seemed his support might be of importance to him soon. When he was done that, Tsuyoshi tried to do anything but relax, ensuring everything was made ready for their travel, and then made a patrol of checking around the mountain, on the off chance he came across any signs of them being followed still, and only when all else he could think to do for the day was done and light began to fade would he allow himself a short soak.
In the morning he would be ready to leave, if a little more sullen and serious than usual.

Tsuyoshi's Investigation result of 12 yields nothing. With that said and done, even though a certain executioner who shall remain nameless ruined the mood, this area is "resolved" Area Card Obligatory onsen episode. -Paidi tou Selini Obligatory, but not typical. Think about that next time you decide to split the party mad Your third area has been solved, so everyone earns 1 XP! The XP logs have been updated. -------------------- Nothing will prevent the party from leaving the hot springs. The intent from Ayame was to travel east past Efude to where the bandit was encountered, and then ride north, following the road. In 24 hours, if no one has posted anything they want to do in the meanwhile, I will post your arrival there (picking up Rakurai along the way).

Chiharu is not an undisciplined person but her "air-y" parsonality lacks the constancy of the earth. Besides it, she was able to catch the mood of the place, a site to Ebisu. This time the shugenja was ready early. Had time to check twice if nothing was left behind. Made sure nothing was forgotten.
She had in hands a couple o greenish pebbles from the hot-springs and was sort of eager to sculpt them but the tools, like most of her stuff, were left at the village.
The warm breeze of the air kami surrounded the group messing with the loose long hair. The group would feel the wind as well, circling arround their eyes and hair.

Assuming a normal early start and no distractions, the trio would get to their destination a little past lunchtime.
The road where the party were ambushed earlier shows no sign of the earlier combat, thanks to the rain, but looks like it hasn't been traveled upon since. It heads in an easterly direction, surrounded by tall, thin trees on each side, though it would turn northward after a bit. Finally, it lets out into more farmland, though with distinctly fewer structures, only three being visible. Unlike Efude Village, these lands look completely unworked, and there isn't a soul in sight.

Chiharu felt a strange sense of loneliness with no one in sight. She had never been in a truly wild area before and the idea of ferocious animals or giant spiders made her shivers. But... it didn't seem wild, just sort of... abandoned?
She took a moment to look for animals and reconsider her first impression of the area.

The area seemed simple enough. Tsuyoshi looked around, not much but landscape. The structures seemed like they might well have been abandoned given the state of the land. Possibly since the war, but it was hard to tell. He started toward the buildings automatically, before pausing after a few steps, hesitating before turning to look at the Imperial.
"Shall I... see if there is anyone to question about the area, or about Shiori?"

Assuming a go-ahead is given by Ayame...
The land, as far as Chiharu and Tsuyoshi can see, is forgotten. The soil is not tilled, areas are overgrown with weeds... perhaps the Crane have not yet been able to relocate peasants to try and reclaim this land after the Destroyer War?
Tsuyoshi, if you are seeking people to question, where do you look? And when you state where, back up it with a Perception/Investigation (Search).
Chiharu, you can do this as well if you'd like. If not, what are you doing in the meantime?

"You may." Ayame answered from on high, before pursing her lips hesitantly. "Just... try to stay in sight."
From there she began her work trotting around and getting a good lay of the land in her mind so she could put it down on a map later. No crevice or hill would be left unaccounted for!
