With a half hour left to kill Huey found himself returning to the Pokemon Center, his foot tapping lightly against the cobbled road as he tried to decide what to do. He couldn't imagine that Emolga's health had changed drastically in the past thirty minutes, so there was no use in popping in to check on its condition. That didn't leave him with too many entertaining options left, unfortunately, he'd already done a bit of physical exercise around the city and there hadn't been much wild pokemon or trainer activity, which meant he couldn't train his pokemon up. And it wasn't like he could leave the city either, his father's train would be arriving soon--twenty-seven minutes in fact--and he couldn't afford to worry the man anymore then he already had, by not showing up at the designated rendezvous area.
The child was still trying to figure out how to kill time when he snapped his head to the left, eyes narrowing as he stared out into the distance. It'd... almost sounded as if someone had called his name, but when he looked around he saw only an empty street. Maybe he'd just imagined it? Huey scratched his head and gave one last look around before chalking it up to his imagination, his thoughts slowly returning to his current predicament. 'Huey!' There it was again! Only louder this time, much louder, though he found himself able to recognize its owner. 'Ty?' he thought in his head, refraining himself from looking about once again.
'Yes, it's me,' Tybalt replied telepathically, his voice clear. 'How are you doing this?' he asked, marveling at the fact that his pokemon could communicate with him even when he was in his pokeball. 'Wait, you are still in your pokeball, aren't you?' A moment of silence extended fell inside his mind before Ty spoke up once more, 'yes, of course.''Oh.' Huey nodded, though quickly realized the action wasn't necessary and rubbed the back of his head. 'What's wrong, you sound as if you're worried,' Huey inquired, his eyebrows furrowing in his concern. 'There's... a problem,' was all the pokemon said, and released himself from his pokeball before his trainer could begin questioning him.
The blonde waited patiently for his pokemon to materialize, his mind already beginning to run with the millions of different 'problems' that could have his level-headed psychic so worried, each worst than the last. Huey was on the fast-track to paranoia when all thoughts became derailed, his eyes widening when he was finally able to get a good look at Tybalt. He did a double-take and then rubbed his eyes, the image before him settling in and firmly so, he wasn't seeing things. "You... evolved?" he spoke aloud, and a distraught Gardevoir nodded his head slowly.

Huey hummed, pursed his lips, and, in an attempt to appear 'scholarly', cupped his chin all while he appraised Tybalt. It was shocking, to say the least, to find that his pokemon had evolved in his pokeball-- maybe it was the universe telling him that he ought to have let Tybalt out more often. Whatever it was, the psychic-type wasn't pleased, either way. "I-I don't understand what happened," he stammered, one delicate hand reaching up to press against his mouth in mortified confusion. "I don't either," the boy murmured, deflating about at his uselessness. That didn't seem to matter, however, as the Gardevoir went on a panic-stricken tirade.
"I-I'd finally decided on becoming a Gardevoir, I was going to tell you that we should start looking for a Dawn stone," he explained as he began to pace. Huey bit his lip, this information only helping to make him feel worse about the situation they suddenly found themselves in. He was silent for several seconds, his chin dropping and his hair falling into his eyes. Tybalt, in the meanwhile, continued with his rave, not quite aware that his trainer had more or less tuned him out, and several times passed by Dianna and Beep, who could only watch his spectacle in confusion. Another full minute was allowed to path before Huey suddenly jerked his head up, eyes wide. "Ty!" At his sudden exclamation Tybalt came to a halt, his head turning to allow him to look expectantly at his trainer. "I know how we can fix this!"
The face of the sun wasn't as bright as his partner's smile, and it was infectious; Huey found himself smiling along with Tybalt, the relief refracted from both of them. "Really!?" he stopped and took the moment to collect himself before he tried again, "Ah-hum. Really?" The blonde bobbed his head up and down eagerly, "yeah! Andrew told me about a stone that helps, uhm, devolve pokemon. It's called a..." he paused and stuck his tongue out, doing his best to recall the item's name, then perked up when he'd managed to do so. "An everstone!" he announced, quite proud of his memory. "I'm sure we can ask around a few stores to see if they sell it, or just have my dad order one for us."

Their solution found, the stress that had unintentionally been brought upon the group slowly dissipated. "Very well then," Tybalt brushed himself off, a bit annoyed at his 'skirt', then nodded. "If there's still time, perhaps we can start now?" When Huey nodded in agreement to his suggestion the group began moving, an excited Tybalt leading the way. The boy couldn't help but to laugh, rather glad that he'd managed to put his pokemon back into a positive mood-- in fact, he couldn't remember the last time he'd seen him this happy. That good feeling, unfortunately, wouldn't last. A yelp broke through the air and Huey jumped, his head snapping forward to try and pinpoint the noise. With a bit of alarm he found Tybalt stopped suddenly in the middle of the road, his body rigid and foot literally stuck in the ground.
At first, the boy didn't quite understand what he was viewing-- and he never got that chance as in the next second the Gardevoir's other foot slipped through the cobbled road and into its depth. It didn't stop there, and by the time Huey actually reacted Tybalt's entire mid-section had gone under. "T-Ty!" He brazenly charged forward, and when he was close enough clasped a hand onto his and began to tug insistently, trying his best to pull him back up. It was useless, however, and soon enough Huey found himself in the same predicament that he'd tried to rescue Tybalt from. Like ice-cream left in the sun--it was the best analogy the candy loving eleven year old could think of on the fly--the ground had melted and refused to support any weight set upon it; the heavier the object the quicker it disappeared, all while still managing to keep its inconspicuous appearance. This hypothesis was proven when Dianna tried to assist, and was unable to take even a step before she fell through completely, whatever sound she might've emitted swallowed up.
Huey began to hyperventilate, mind unable to comprehend the events coming to past: Dianna was gone and they were quickly joining her, all that remained of Tybalt was his upper half and Huey was down to his torso, one hand vainly grasping up at the empty air. Off on the sidelines Beep paced frantically, bleating in concern, before he finally took action, stumbling forward on his new legs with arms extended, only to be caught in a one-armed bear hug by his panicking trainer. Huey flailed about, or as much as he could, and in a split-second of clarity he discovered that he could kick about freely, which meant that there was an open area beneath him. Whatever comfort that may have brought him, however, was quickly drowned out by his rising fear. He winced when his left arm was jerked sharply, at this point Tybalt had disappeared completely from view, the hand still wrapped around his own his only comfort that he was still, physically with him. A weight that quickly began to drag him down, hastening his and Beep's 'vanishing act'. With one last yelp Huey disappeared completely, both hands instinctively tightened around both Beep and Tybalt, and then everything went dark.

Despite scouring the boat the entire time, putting his sleuthing skills to the true test, Faraday was unable to locate his egg or the thief. What made it even more terrible was that the boat had left Slateport and arrived in Castelia City in the time being. As he was making a second go around for clues, he noticed the boat docking and preparing to unload its cargo. In the moment of agitation, it didn’t even occur to Faraday that the thief might take advantage of this, using it as cover to get off the ship.
No instead he tried to double check the area once more, sticking to the deck just in case. In the meantime, the little thief did exactly what Faraday didn’t acknowledge might be done. Tucking itself into a loose cargo case with stolen property in tow, the Togepi got itself a free ride off the boat without the detective’s notice. Once the box had been set down and left, it crawled out of its hiding place, grabbing its stolen property and with a chirp, started toddling its way into the city.

"Damnit! How…," Faraday murmured to himself as his search once again bore no fruit. He got off the boat and onto the dock, frustration clearly etched on his face. This was a far trickier situation than he expected to be in. He didn’t know who or what the thief was, though he was beginning to assume it was of the pokemon variety, or even why it had stolen the egg to begin with –though once again, he was beginning to think it had some connection to those thugs in the cave-. Still… this seemed like a lot of work just to take it back.
Maybe it was one of their superiors come to rectify the situation? Someone of more… authority doing this kind of thing made sense to him. Still, he hadn’t seen any signs of such an individual. On top of that, Team Aqua was known just a bit more for their brute force as opposed to their subtlety. After all, dressing like pirates didn’t exactly scream ‘secretive’. Still though…
Faraday paused a moment in thought, taking a moment to breath and clear his mind. Whatever he was dealing with, it knew what it was doing. He needed another pair of eyes to help him search. Immediately his thoughts went to Calcifer before a frown promptly crossed his face. Right… the Mismagius was still out and about doing Arceus only knew what. Actually, he hadn’t heard from the ghost in quite a while. It would probably do him well to pull out his tracker and figure out where the darn fellow had disappeared too. But that did remind him of another viable option…

Reaching for the pokeball at his hip, he released Sissil out into the open. The Magikit blinked and squinted, giving the man a questioning look. He’d been having a nice little rest up until now and wasn’t keen on being disturbed. "Sissy, I need your help." Faraday remarked. Sissil could tell by the serious expression that this was not about fun or games, immediately perking up in interest. "Do you remember that black egg you all found?" The ghost kitten’s expression changed a moment into a thoughtful one as though he were trying to recall before he promptly nodded his head.
"Well… someone or something stole it." The detective gestured about the dock before focusing back on his pokemon. "I don’t know what or why, but I need you to be a second pair of eyes for me." Faraday nodded in confirmation as Sissil looked surprised at this request. "You can fly and pass through things, which makes covering ground easier. So what do you say?"
Sissil stared with a wide eyed gaze for a moment, a paw resting under his chin before he finally gave a curt nod in agreement. In a dash he was up and away, taking to the skies to look for anything out of the ordinary or matching the description of the egg. Faraday couldn’t help but beam a grateful grin as the pokemon reacted, immediately grabbing his bag and giving chase as Sissil signaled him towards a route exit, quickly disappearing in pursuit. Wow… this thing was moving fast…

Finally. Castelia. Now, she just had to get her ticket to the fair train. Making her way through the city, she saw quite a few people were heading there like she was. This fair was going to be packed. Oh, lord. She hoped no one got hurt.

She was weirdly ecstatic to see Cheria again. It wasn't like Skye had any real romantic interest in her. Yes, Cheria was beautiful and friendly and an all around pleasant person to be with. But....Well, who knows? Maybe Skye really was interested in her. It had been a while, of course, so she really couldn't tell herself. And, now that she thought about it, why was she thinking about this? Huh. Weird.

And back into Castelia they arrived. The place was bustling with life and it took careful maneuvers not to accidentally run into people or have his pokemon be trampled. Taking a seat on a nearby bench, Faraday took a breath of fresh air. It was blazing in those deserts –as it always was- and it was nice to be able to take a deep breath not full of sand and heat.
There was a patch of grass nearby that wild pokemon liked to roam in and that’d be the first place he’d start for training up a bit. He’d keep an eye out for any would-be trainers to battle. Then he’d head to the train station and book a ride back to Mauville to challenge the gym. It all seemed pretty smooth enough.
"Alright you guys. Go out there in the grass and find some things to battle for a bit, okay? I’ll try to find some trainers to challenge as well." He replied. Chromie and Murphy gave him a bit of a curious look, chirping uncertainly as they kept close, toddling towards the edges of the grass. Dresden and Sissil seemed to pick up what he was putting down, immediately heading directly into the grass to train. The Zorua remained close to Faraday, watching everyone intently as he did. He was still a little too tiny to be trying to challenge things; the detective didn’t blame him for hanging back. Hopefully that share on his head –he’d found out exactly what it was- would get him boosted in levels.

It didn’t take long for someone to run into a wild pokemon, though the last thing Sissil was expecting to find in what seemed like otherwise peaceful grass outside a city was giant blob of purple muck. His nose immediately crinkled in disgust, paws flying up to cover it as he eyed the disgusting pokemon a moment. The Grimer looked content sloshing around, a sickly trail of ooze following behind it. It stopped though, gaze directing to Sissil and giving a curious ‘Grime?’ in response.
Well… it was something to battle at least. Though he wasn’t looking forward to battling it in the least bit.

While Sissil handled a Grimer, Dresden found himself a pair of Cottonee. At first, he was intent to leave them alone; they looked peaceful enough and he wasn’t one to just start punching wild pokemon that were doing nothing wrong by him. Unfortunately, one of them seemed to have felt the need to play the tough guy, bristling and actually attempting to strike out at him. He didn’t know what it’s deal was but without hesitation, the white bunny popped it a solid fire punch to bring it down.

The second Cottonee didn’t take to kindly to its friend being taken down so easily, immediately chirping to life and making an attempt at Dresden as well. The rabbit watched dully a moment as the ball of fluff tried to tackle him, only to bounce backwards in the process. These pokemon weren’t particularly strong and it showed. Without hesitation he launched another painful fire punch at the second Cottonee. Both went whimpering away in pain once dispatched, leaving Dresden sighing. Oh well.

Dresden bristled in agitation as he found another opponent. A Rattata had scrambled its way into his view and immediately his gaze narrowed as he recalled the battle from before. Sissil watched as Dresden punched the lights out of a Rattata, giving a little nod of approval in agreement. Sure it might’ve not been the same rat as before, but he too was still stinging from that defeat earlier. He hadn’t expected to get chomped so hard and yet he had. And it had hurt like hell too. He couldn’t really garner sympathy for the pokemon as it charged away in pain.
Soon though, it became apparent the rat had been trying to avoid something else entirely as a Delcatty appeared to answer the sound of screechy squeaks. Sissil eyed the cat with a sort of unimpressed look. It didn’t look all that tough and it showed…
