I understand that users are upset, but you have to remember that as a working elf and 27-year-old, what the higher ups are privy to doesn't mean everyone is supposed to know. That's how it works IRL, and that's how it works on Gaia.
If the reason is inflation, then you have to realize that Gaia trying to control it without rolling out a gold sink is much easier. Yes, gold sinks are optional, but secretly trying to control the flow gold is much easier than trying to set up an event so people can willingly, and optionally, pour gold into the system.
Now before I get the "why not a gold sink" you have to remember that gold sink events take time and require some type of event. Most, if not all our gold sinks, are made into an event. This takes time and effort, especially concerning the other projects that need to be taken care of.
In other words, it's spend more effort on making a gold sink or just control the inflation without making a big deal of it. If you were staff, what would you choose?

Restlessly Restless If Gaia is actually so concerned over inflation then maybe they should close the cash shop all together, stop selling fish, and go back to only selling MC’s every month. Or they could actually take a stronger hand in controlling the MP, setting a max limit on how much an item may sell for.
Anyways, I’m very said that DMV.2 is closing, it’s helped me a lot and was the reason for me going out and stocking my tank (On a mule right now, normally on TheRestless). DMV.2 you will be greatly missed *cries* RIGs (or CIs) actually are designed for preventing inflation. Yes, prices go up, but people go CRAZY selling things on the marketplace. That 2% tax? Those BILLIONS of gold exchanged for the items is snipped at just slightly. But when it's BILLIONS of gold being exchanged, MILLIONS are being taken out in taxes. If you cut out RIGs and other CS items you're cutting out a very important gold sink. You can't say that they are causing inflation just because they cost a lot of gold.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...what, what? RIG's give us inflation because they mostly hand out fail coins and/or fail prizes which have sellback values. Those pump gold into the economy in fair sized (usually 10-40k a pop) chunks on a regular basis, yet BG keeps getting hit with the nerf hammer instead of those.

ll P W E E P ll The specifics of the situation cannot be disclosed, but Greg (Es) and Lanzer have reached an agreement on the issue, and thus resulted in the site being closed on Friday.

off topic:...lol, his name is Greg on topic: well we all know that it's sad and we will miss DMv2 but what we have to understand is what's done is done. It was a mutual agreement between Es and Lanzer. We should be able to get the information on why they are shutting it down over time though...

eek stare That deserves a thread of its own. So they intend to make bg no more profitable than other games or posting in forums by reducing the amount of gold we can get from bg? evil This will make it impossible to afford anything on the mp without investing cash first. I am well set up but it is especially unfair to newer members. Better that they should instead raise the amount of gold earned from other venues as they lower it slightly from bg. This way there are ways to maintain a reasonable amount of gold for members. The amount of gold earned if equalized at the current levels would be just a few hundred per day per source. We'd be lucky to get 1 or 2k a day. That is ridiculous.
