Tam sits numb on the floor. He has achieved what was needed, but has learned something horrible at the same time. He had offered himself completely and the offering had been refused, not merely refused but rejected as unfitting. Had the three lost souls not joined him, it all would have been for naught. Stunned he stumbles to his feet and staggers away from the cheerful gathering, blindly making his way down a hall and out into a garden, where he collapses from exhaustion. Back in the cave his body spasms once, twice, three times... then goes limp. He's alive, but only barely, the thread which ties him to his form has frayed until it is barely as thick as a single hair.

*He finds himself lifted...by a golden paw, and a voice as warm as sunlight scolds him lightly*
Foolish bard. Did you think that an angel would be heard in the realm of wraiths without the aid of the wraith king. We merely provoked my son to sing, so as not to lose his beloved godson. Now he's about to lose his father. So I am taking you home before I return to Paradise. Continue to watch over my son...he's asleep in my other paw...*When Tam lifts his head, he sees this is the truth, Kero is out cold*...he needs you right now...so don't you dare die on him. Now, let's get home.
*Aurelia flies towards the island home of her son*

Tam sighs and speaks in a voice barely above a whisper in a voice strained beyond quite possible repair. "I serve the one over all... my voice should have been heard... nay, it was heard.... why did he turn away?" The last is a cry of anguish so great that it threatens to tear out the heart of any who heard.

*The great head turns toward him*
He did not hear you because you are in the center of the realm of silence, where only the cry of the king of ghosts, the lord of wraiths, the emissary of emptiness, the master of negation...only his voice can be heard from there...you'll notice, once Kero sang, he still needed you to make the request...it took his voice to pierce the veils...but it took yours to grant the life.

But Tam does not hear her. Lost in his grief, he lhears little else but the silence which now sits in his soul.

*So she simply drops him, and sets Kero down gently, curling him up...she sits before the bard, slapping him across the face with her tail*
Snap out of it, Ai. Or would you rather I pull what I used to pull on my sons and daughters when they got lost in self-pity.

Tam slowly raises his head, opens his mouth to say something, but nothing comes out. He rubs his throat, swallows painfully, and tries again, with much the same result. He looks up at her and tears well up in his eyes.

*The gold simply pulls him close, wrapping her wings around him...Kero may have gotten his mischief and intelligence from his father, but he gets his capacity for love from his mother...*
It's okay, Ai...I promise you, you are still beloved by the all-father right here, right now. He's watching you, wondering why you are wallowing like this. The child has been restored, Talesian...your prayers worked...come on...let's get you home, and get you something warm to drink...

The angel nods glumly and walks over to where Kero sleeps, He kneels down by the small dragon's side and embraces him, waiting to be picked up.

The voice is faint and far away. Tam tries to reply but his head feels as though it is full of mush and his thoughts are too jumbled to form anything understandable.

So Aurelia begins to sing, instilling her song with the same message she has been giving him, her voice as warm as sunlight...and just as enlightening*

**I was just going to say the same thin... pleasant dreams, dulcha... amrito vek biggrin **
Tam shakes his head in confusion. What he hears sounds more like dissonance than music... mayhaps he's just tired... mayhaps he's over reached himself... remember... his magic lies in the realm of music and any mage who over reaches themselves has hell to pay for it... and music is magic in his hands....

*So Aurelia simply takes them into her paws, and flies them home...when she appears, dropping his soul off, and flies out...only to be tackled by Emnast...and to carry him outside....Even Bez winces in sympathy...no spanking....but the lecture of a lifetime...she's still lecturing three hours later, when Kero and Tam wake up...though Kero is still a baby dragon, and will be for about a day or so...and Aurelia is still going strong*

Tam lifts a head that feels ten times the size of the Grand Canyon and seeing where he is,slips over to Kerobian's side to check on the mage. Outside he can hear the draconic lecture which has been faintly penetrating his uneasy slumber. He grimaces in sympathy, praying that Emnast has the endurance to wait his mother out, and looks slowly around for his children. Mara is nowhere to be seen, but a tiny familiar whimper and Bez's soothing voice can be heard from the living room. Ari is nearby, lying on the bed, curled up between Hopian great paws, the two of them are asleep, protected by a form of force shield.
Hopian looks decidedly odd, his fur instead of long and soft is kind of crinkly and stunted, but he can't reach him to see what is wrong with it. But Ari looks fine and deeply asleep. Wondering why the lion has shielded the two of them off, he decides it doesn't matter. They are safe. They all are and that is all that matters.
Wishing he could remove his head and reattach it later when it stops hurting, Tam curls around the dragonling on the bed and closes his eyes, nuzzling close and passes out once more.
