tam stops and rests his hand on kero's head.... easy now.... he whispers... he waits to see what the boy does.... but doesn't take his eyes off him... as if to dare him to repeat his ealier prank on kerobian....

*The boy's eyes grow wide...and Kero leaps onto him...stinging him in the carotid artery...the boy drops down...still alive...but out cold...Kero looks smug*

tam nods coldly... let's go get our bath... shall we.. he casts about making certain they are alone then heads out into the main street, keeping to the center with kero in tow...

*Finally...the two get the baths they deserve...and finally...Kero is able to soak off all the salt on his skin...he comes out like a watery shadow...inspires Tam to write a quick ditty about moving night...*

not a bad concept at that... tough he's having a rough time trying to set it into a story line... iffin he makes the shadowy figure oppressive... then iffin kero needs to move about in that manner, he's got problems.. finally he simply shelves the lyrics for future work and suggest they go get a bite to eat....

the main room of the inn is simple in design... as they enter tam sees a local musician sitting by the fire... a look of apprehension comes across the man's face until tam give him a slight hand signal, letting him know he had no desire to edge in on his turf...
innkeep, he calls to the man in charge... a private dining room please and a room fer the night, preferably one which does not greet the morning sun...
the inkeeper apologizes for the lack of any private dining space and offers to serve them in their room, should the fine gentleman and his noble pet wish... tam looks at kero, and sees how tired he is and nods... in our room will do just fine, he replies forking over the necessary gold... in fact it does far better than my original request... i commend yer devotion to service, my good man... now where might this room be...
the innkeeper guides them up a broad stairwell to a room at the rear of the inn, away from the noise and bustle of the main room below....
and also opening out above the stables... laughs tam wrinkling his nose as he opens the window... well.. it may be fragrant, but at least it smells better than some stenchs we have found ourselves enduring over the past few years.... he turns to ask kero something, only to find the cat stretched out across the largest bed fast asleep...
tam chuckles ruefully, pulling off his boots... what is it about a cat, that they take up far more room than humanly possible while sleeping he muses and digs for his hairbrush....

tam tosses the hairbrush at kero's head and misses him by a mile... on purpose of course... ye sneaky little bed hog... growls tam with a smile.... he goes to answer a knock on the door and accepts a tray from the kitchen maid....
just put yer tray outside yer door when yer done, m'sirra.... someone will take it down ne'r ye fear.. she say with a flirtatious wink...
tam closes the door and locks it, then takes the tray to the rooms small table... delicious smells fill the room as he uncovers a huge tureen of stew and a plate of fresh crusty home made bread... there is a flagon of ale and a mug of milk... just as he had requested as well, plus a bowl for kero to drink from....
