As she made her way across the makeshift ballroom, Ruby could hear snippets of conversation between guests. Nothing that was of any real interest or important to her mission however, so she stayed to herself. As she reached the buffet of delicacies, it seemed she had joined the party for nothing. It had been some time since she arrived and nothing out of the ordinary had happened. Her crimson eyes scanned the table for the desserts. She needed chocolate if she was going to stay. The music in the background seemed to encourage a few people to begin dancing. It made her wish her darling husband was around. Her eyes stopped on a rather delicious looking chocolate cake. "Finally...a reason to stay" she mumbled, intending to do so silently, but anyone within a few feet would have easily heard her. She grabbed a small plate and made her way to the cake.

Her gaze drifts off in a different direction. The witch frowns in thought. "I did not choose to have my own body. Once she had found the spell, knowing the limited time the child had left, I chose to end things without such luxury. Her mother had other plans, however..." She sighs. She lowers her voice for the next part. "Kate didn't walk away free, however. The contract basically had me leeching at her life in order to grow stronger. I still have that strength while she's stuck with a shorter lifespan. Possible ten to twenty years at best."
Contract? She knew of no contract. But there was a way for separation?! Cid grasped hold of the witch's hand, her grip tight, desperation superseding personal boundaries, "You mean to tell me there is a way for a bound soul to be separated? It works? Could you do this? Perhaps recreate it twice more? Whatever risks?"

Lucky giggled at the mermaid's pleased reaction. She was about to speak again when some movement caught the corner of her eye. Phantom was speaking to the lady with bells and another with light hair whom she did not recognize. The air around them had seemed tense for a moment before dying down, so she paid no mind at first, but now the one with bells had taken on a new air. She seemed anxious, desperate even, which was only amplified when she grabbed the pale haired one's hands. The redhead was not sure what was happening, but she decided it might be best if she moved closer to step in if necessary. She turned back to River with a smile. "Well, I should continue with my duties as hostess. I saw Monmon and Arron over near the refreshments. I'm sure they'd love to see how lovely you look in your dress. Maybe you can even convince one to give you a dance~" She waved and excused herself from the mermaid, making her rounds and greeting newcomers, all while moving strategically closer to the group. When she deemed herself close enough, she noticed another close by.

It seemed the crimson haired woman had been left to her own devices again as Solsi began her rounds. She had settled with getting herself a slice of chocolate cake. She was a quiet one, and seemed to be observing the party, almost like she expected something to happen. It was a look the princess knew well. She casually grabbed a cup and poured herself some punch before walking over to the other redhead. "That cake is my brother's favorite," she remarked with a playful smile, sipping on her punch. "You're lucky to have gotten a slice before he discovered it was here."

The witch is taken aback by the sudden grab of her hand. "Uh-Uhh... I was not the one to use the spell. You would need to speak to the child for that one. If you want separation from one body to another, that is a whole new situation."
She glanced over at Phantom. "I cannot be exactly happy about the end result."
It seemed the crimson haired woman had been left to her own devices again as Solsi began her rounds. She had settled with getting herself a slice of chocolate cake. Ruby chuckled under her breath. "Your brother has good taste. I simply adore a good chocolate cake.

"...what do you mean another situation?" Cid asked, her grip loosening somewhat, "Are they two matters entirely?"
Clara could feel the woman's grip loosening from her gloved hand. "I, nor the child, created my body. As I said, her mother had other plans. She was the one to do so, however, it was not without a price," she replies before laughing. "There is probably another way to do so, but she thought she could torment me for a little bit longer."

"I would say it ended rather neatly." She said with a nod, "It was a compromise, sure, but not all compromises are dismal."

As she knew it would, the tiny flame of hope flickered and died. She sighed as the knight left. Youth these days. If the girl had not been so vague in describing the creature she hunted, the Phantom could have possibly helped. She had centuries of experience in possessions and playing with souls. Watching Cidri's retreating form, the Phantom lifted a shoulder in a half shrug. Oh well.

"Wishful thinking? I did not say it as such-" Too late. The belled young woman had left to go talk to her blue haired companion. "Did I...say something wrong?" she asks, tilting her head slightly.
Meanwhile, Kate was chatting away with the others when she felt a tap on her shoulder. This caught her immediate attention. She turns to face Cid. Smiling, she says, "oh! Hello!"
"Wishful thinking? I did not say it as such-" Too late. The belled young woman had left to go talk to her blue haired companion. "Did I...say something wrong?" she asks, tilting her head slightly. ]
"You said nothing wrong, witch. The knight was overly optimistic." The Phantom began to circle you as she gazed at your new form. "Does it feel strange? Being in your own body?"

The woman watched as the thin, sparkling dust flew off into the air and seemed to altogether...vanish. Her eyes narrowed a little and she smiled."Ah-ha. That's quite an interesting trick. I have a few of my own."When he dipped her, she tucked the fabric back into his jacket pocket. For a split second, the hair in front of her face moved and both eyes became visible."You are quite the dancer. Have you done this often?""I used to."she replied casually. The room turned right side up again as he pulled her back to her feet."Years back."Her grip on his hand and shoulder were incredibly light, relying primarily on her footwork to keep them together. Yet somehow she was able to match his patterns as they glided across the floor."But that was long ago and far away."Spots of light rushed across their faces from the chandeliers above, almost like a streak of falling stars."I won't bore you with the details."
She watches the Phantom circle her curiously. "Not really? I guess since I used her body, it hasn't been a problem. Though, I am still trying to learn this era's ways on my own."
