Miyako, give me an Awareness/Battle to get their attention and redirect them. TN 10 for one samurai, and a raise will get +1 samurai. I know you've been saving those void points.

As for your attack roll, give me a damage roll, on the off chance you hit.

Miyako manages to pry away two samurai from the battle to make a mad rush at Ryuden!

A dagger would fling across the air and catch him in the shoulder, causing him to wince. Turning, he would quickly scan the crowd, and spot Miyako.

"You, go. You, stay." One of the samurai would run off in the same direction Omiko had, and one, a young man probably not past his gempukku, remained in the stairwell.

"Come at me, then. See where that gets you."

Miyako, roll initiative! Also, roll 3k2 each for initiative for the two samurai you have with you!

It wasn't hard to get the second knife out, at least in that direction she was well armed. Hopefully, it would not be her last day after all. Aiguichi out, she'd head over quite obligingly, and hopefully not stupidly

Reaching around with his free left hand, Ryuden would yank the weapon from his shoulder blade with a muffled grunt. And began to mutter something under his breath... Using a free raise to decrease the casting time, he would gesture towards one of the rushing bushi, and a darkness would consume his eyes... but thanks to a VERY lucky Willpower roll (and a regained void point), it seems to have no effect on the person!

Miyako, you and your bushi have initiative! Unless otherwise instructed, they will move to engage and make attack rolls against Ryuden.

Letting the bushi do their thing, Miyako gave them enough room to maneuver even as she waited for another shot to fling her aiguchi at the b*****d.

Miyako, you wait for a clear shot, but with the bushi in the way, you don't see one! Rather than risk it, you conserve your ammunition for now.

... darn it, I hate rounds like these.

Ryuden would hand Miyako's first dagger to the young man with him and simply instructed him, "Bleed for me."

"Hai!" the young man would reply enthusiastically, taking the dagger and, without hesitation or care of the consequences, sliced open his bared forearm, inflicted 4 points of damage to himself! What the f**k?!?!

... technically, every participant can make Tides of Battle rolls, but no one wounded anyone else, so it would all be increases to initiative. For the sake of expediency, I will skip the rolls since the net order should stay the same.

Ryuden begins casting once again, a black essence draining some sort of energy from the wound on the young man's arm, dealing 8 damage to him! Casting quickly (using 3 raises for casting time, a free raise from class abilities, and a void point for another free raise), he attempts to cast another air spell, this one more difficult.

Making the TN 45 roll, he audibly casts something unrecognizable. One of the bushi drops his katana and falls to his knees, choking and gasping for air, clutching at his throat with one hand.

The other bushi kind of... inflates. He bulges as if he was about to pop like a bubble, before falling backwards, writhing in agony on the ground in mute agony. He convulses violently and begins to foam at the mouth - you aren't sure if he is alive or dead, but he is no longer in fighting condition.

Miyako, go! One bushi can still fight, but suffers a -13 penalty!

Other than the unfamiliarity with the types of wounds being inflicted and their magical nature, Miyako managed to stay relatively poised and tried to look for the silver lining. She now had a clearer shot.

Two raises for a deadlier strike (Edit: Say gut shot? And more damage? I have no idea about all this...)

And then to move in, drawing her katana as she moved closer, unless Ninsei suggested otherwise.

Miyako would fling a dagger, aiming for Ryuden's exposed abdomen - a last second turn was all he could do to make the wound less life-threatening. Ryuden spends a void point to reduce damage by 10!

With no order, the Heichi still alive would stand shakily, wiping spittle from his mouth and take up a defensive stance! With Total Defense, the Escapee's TN to be Hit goes up by 3, after penalties!

The teenager idles, not being given any further commands.

With the round over, the only two major combatants both dealt wounds, so we will forgo Tides of Battle once again.

Agasha Ryuden begins to cast once more, his gaze focusing on Miyako now. Ninsei would call out as he pieced together what Maho does by observation, reaching his remaining hand towards Miyako: "Watch out!"

Spending a free raise for quickness, Ryuden now casts an Earth spell - Blood Command! 25 vs TN 25 to cast successfully!

Miyako, give me an Opposed Earth Roll against Ryuden! More energy is sapped from the teenager's blood, fueling a spell that seems to weigh down your insides, as if a cold, heavy grip of death is upon you!

As her stomach clenched and seized her insides, Miyako's brain panicked as she grabbed her stomach, dropping to her knees and found small comfort in the piece of jade still hidden there in her obi. There was no way to fight Maho that she knew of after all, so she doubted she would see another sunrise.

Ryuden's Earth roll = 15

Agasha Ryuden forces his will upon Miyako's, but his will wavers in the face of his injuries - the crippling pain is more like a stinging sensation at best. Miyako has a -1 penalty to her Skill, Trait, and Ring rolls until Ryuden attempts another Blood Command, which he can do every round as a Simple Action.

Miyako, you're a teensy bit weakened, as if struck by a nasty illness, but you get the feeling you just escaped the brunt of something awful. You, and your remaining bushi, have initiative!

Well, if she was going to go down, she wasn't going to go down without a fight. The b*****d! She was young, beautiful and smart, why in the hell was she having to do this again?!

That frustration lent itself to a bit more strength to keep going for the moment. she could only hope that the Kami would shine a little more kindly on her.

Miyako, katana readied, rushed Ryuden and made a clumsy sweep of the blade... these things are heavier than she remembered! Perhaps it was the ill effects of the spell he just cast, but her strike was easily sidestepped.

The Bushi that remained standing likewise tried to help, but was still wheezing from the ill effects of the previous spell and nearly stumbled into Miyako!

Making a Tides of Battle roll to increase his initiative, Ryuden would begin the next round by forcing another Earth Roll upon Miyako. Miyako, give me a Raw Earth Roll! Your -1 still applies!

Not having the actions available to prepare a maho scroll to cast again, he instead reaches down and unsheathes his wakizashi to use instead!

Miyako, Earth Roll! His roll was an underwhelming 12.
