Aesa did join him for breakfast though she ate very sparingly, her thoughts preoccupied with Ace and his poor health. As soon as she was done and had tidied her used dishes she was back at his side, where she kept vigil for his entire healing process. She ate very little and only left his bedside in order to clean herself and use the facilities as they were. Her entire world narrowed to a pin point where Ace’s health was the only concern she had. It could have been two days - it could have been two weeks, she truly had no idea how much time passed between the short naps she stole, holding his hand and blotting away his dampened forehead and face.

After their first ministrations a fever had taken hold of him while his body fought first the original toxin and then the second Lyuath had infected him with. He slipped in and out of consciousness, muttering insensible things while glazes eyes refused to lock on Aesa when she tried to prompt him to lucidness. During all this time she made sure to feed him broth and water that Lyuath provided, to ensure he had the strength to keep fighting. Eventually the fever broke, and to Aesa it felt as though she had weathered the storm herself, exhausted as she was. When Ace finally opened his eyes, recovered from his ordeal it was to find Aesa half laying across his torso from her chair at his side, fast asleep.

Ace's week of trauma was hell inside his mind. He couldn't control his body much, even when he seemed conscious, he really wasn't, and he couldn't stop worrying about the same person who worried the most about him, Aesa. Eventually though, he opened his tired eyes finding himself staring at a ceiling that was familiar, but he didn't know at the same time as the night's shadows obscured a lot of detail in the room. He tried to breath in a heavy breath to maybe get some oxygen to his aching body, but found foreign weight on his chest. He looked down seeing Aesa asleep upon him and her small hand wrapped around his own. He thought about moving, but the throbbing was to much for him to handle. He visibly winced but kept quiet.

"Aesa," he finally whispered ever so slightly tightening his hand around hers hoping it would wake her up as he couldn't move much more than that. He picked his other hand up and gently rubbed her cheek with his thumb just looking down at her eyes waiting for them to open see he could see them. Almost dying really put perspective on things realizing how much he did in fact care for this woman, no mater if it was wrong in society's mind.

Aesa was roused by the dual pressure on both her hand as well as cheek, and blinked her eyes open to see Ace staring back at her. Sitting up abruptly, she almost lost her balance and went tumbling off her chair but managed to right herself just in time. She quickly disentangled their linked hands so that she could begin to run her hands freely all over his person, checking that he was truly conscious. ”Ace, you’re awake! I’m so relieved!” Apparently she was so overwhelmed she only had the ability to state the obvious and understate her reaction to it. When she was satisfied that he was in fact awake and lucid she brushed his hair from his brow and looked inquiringly into his eyes. ”How are you feeling? Does it pain you very much?” She had not yet thought to call Lyuath though he would probably realize he was awake in a moment as he always seemed to be on hand.

Ace looked up at her and looked a little surprised at how enthusiastic she really was about his waking. He couldn't blame her as he didn't really think he'd survive this one, but alas, he was still here. He smiled looking up at her as she brushed his messy hair out of his face once more. "Well of course I'm awake, what else would I be?" he softly chuckled before wincing a little bit with the smile still attached to his face. "I still don't feel that great, and my side throbs still, but a lot better," he said honestly figuring it was just pointless to lie to her. He missed her, he didn't want to be dishonest to her now and only have to be in the same issues as before.

Lyuath woke up from the sleep he'd fallen into at the kitchen table hearing the commotion about something. He got up and walked towards the bedroom with groggy steps. "Ace? Man, you need to stop scaring us like that. I thought you bit it after your fever hadn't broken in so long, then after the second poison was doing more harm then good, I felt like a moron. I guess it worked though considering you are awake, and alive, no longer dying. I think overall, this is pretty good," he smiled just continuing to lean in the door way. Ace just playfully glared at him shaking his head.

Aesa was all smiles for Ace, even when he admitted to the lingering pain. If he was being honest enough to tell her about it, she would refrain from mothering him. As she continued to smooth out his hair she opened her mouth to offer him some food when Lyuath breezed into the doorway, all calm demeanor. At his confession to Ace that he had poisoned him a second time, albeit with the best of intentions, Aesa’s mouth set in a thin line - she had already berated him enough for his foolish mistake so she wasn’t about to beat a dead horse, especially not with Ace alive and well.

Nodding to Lyuath she rose from the bedside and stretched, her muscles protesting the movement after so long in one position. ”Are you hungry Ace? I’ve been tending your broth but if you’re feeling up to something more solid I’m sure it could be arranged. And if you’re able to walk we could manage to walk there might be a bath in it for you.” While her tone remained neutral there was a twinkling in her eye. She knew for herself, if ever she arose from a fever she was sorely wishing for a bath to wash away the heat and rejuvenate her senses.

He looked up at Lyuath hearing his comment and seeing Aesa's response to it. He waited until she mad her offer making him nod slowly, but still eager. Both sounded pleasing to him, but he just hoped she wouldn't hate his friend for poisoning him. "The point of poisoning me a second time, Aesa, is to kill the first toxin. The second is much easier for your body to combat making you less likely to die. Its like maybe giving you a cold to kill a flu or plague," he explained quietly before slowly shifting so he could sit up. He winced and looked down at his cut up shirt and the large patch of blood that covered almost half his side that hadn't been taken off. After a few seconds or remembering exactly what happened, he started moving again. He put his feet on the side of the bed before standing up. He gripped the head board tightly as he stood up snarling and shaking as he did from it hurting and just still being exhausted.

Honestly, he couldn't remember the last time he'd been this injured. He'd been injured a lot but not this badly. He put his hand over his wound to find a bit of fresh blood on it from the movement, but not enough to alarm him. All it was equaling to was a few drops of blood. Nothing more than that.

Aesa nodded her head once, decisively. ”Yes, Lyuath had explained the necessity of it to me so that I wouldn’t try and cause him bodily harm” Rather fortuitous of him for she had been thinking of ways to do just that. He seemed powerful in his own right but she still thought it had been a rather ridiculous plan.
Helping Ace get to a sitting position was significantly easier now that he was awake and assisting. The two mages had, had to roll him about several times to cleanse the wound and it had been no small chore. Once he was situated and she was sure he wasn’t about to fall back into his sickbed Aesa smiled encouragingly at him. ”Well then Master Thief, if Lyuath would be so kind as to get you to the bath I would be happy to prepare something light for you to eat. Now that the fever was done ravaging through his body she knew he would be all but starved. A body couldn’t survive on broth alone, no matter how many nutrients she infused it with.

Taking herself off to the kitchenette area she began to examine Lyuath’s foodstuffs for something that would be palatable to Ace and his still as of yet unpredictable stomach. Settling on bread and some stew that had been made the evening before she went about preparing it. Nothing too rich but something that will hopefully fill him up. She would have liked to attend him during his bath as she didn’t want to part from him for a moment now that he was awake but that seemed too bold. Even the though caused a blush to creep along her cheeks.

Lyuthan walked over to Ace's side and held his friend wrap his arm around his slim shoulder before helping him walk. "I'll get you thief taken care of," he said teasingly poking his side. Ace grunted and glared at him but the halfling just grinned and helped him walk into the bathroom. Once there, he started filling up the tub and helped undressed his clumsy friend with several bangs being herd and swear words being exchanged between the two, but it never got angry enough to actually be a hate between the two. Eventually, Ace managed to get out of his filthy and torn up clothes and into the hot water. He contently smiled enjoying the relaxing warmth that he couldn't remember the last time he had. Cold baths were nice and all, but a hot bath was amazing.

"So, Riddley, why are you risking your life for some mage? I mean, she's a hot babe and all, but there's got to be some other reason for it. You have always cursed mages and even the idea of falling in love with someone, and yet you commit both of your personal sins at the same time. What has she done for you?" Lyuthan asked Ace as he just soaked in the hot water. He opened his eyes and looked over at the man with tired eyes as he sighed and rubbed his eyes grabbing the knife that was sitting on the edge that had been used for shaving. Without answering his question, he took the knife to his face and slowly removed the rough facial hairs that were slowly becoming a thin beard. "Riddley?" Ace jumped at him saying his name in the almost begging tone of voice and cut deep into the side of his face making him snarl.

He growled at it and held his hand up to his cheek as the blood ran down his face. He rubbed his face and just looked at him irritated but still answered him never the less. "I saved her life because she saved mine. I put her in the same mess I've been in before. She wouldn't survive out here, Lyuthan. She's done millions of things I would have thought possible, but she would be captured, she could be killed, or worse. You know how my kind is, we are a b*****d group of races," he sighed sinking into the water more. He bit his lip hard before sitting up again and noticed the blood running down his face more. It stung when it touched the soapy water, but he would be fine in a bit. He stood up out of the water again and sighed loudly with Lyuthan grabbing a towel for him. He took it gratefully and dried off before wrapping his towel around his waist. He looked around for more clothes, but he didn't have any.

"I'll get you clothes while you eat. My question for you though is have you kissed her or anything, or has it all been just stuck in your head? I hope you at least had kissed her if anything," he said glaring at Ace. His eyes got wide suddenly as he glared at the halfling. He rolled his eyes and threw the knife inbetween his legs just before his groin.

"Just because you are a love machine doesn't mean that I am. One sin at a time please," Ace said with a playful smile. He chuckled rolling his eyes pushing the curtain out of the way so he could leave.

Lyuthan grinned and yelled after him, "Why not, you already did it twice so far, why not again?" Another bang was heard as Ace turned around and threw a container at him making a shattering sound before he walked out of the room. He held the fabric around his waist as he walked quietly into the kitchen on the way to his room. Lyuthan hit him in the back with a thing of soap making him almost fall down as he was passing him to leave. "I'm going to get your man clothes, he trashed his other ones so I'm going into town to go get some. So I apologize or welcome you for him not having clothes," said before Ace just shooed him away and he sat down at the table resting his face on the cold surface.

New, old hidden spots were shown again on his body with new seen scars cutting marks into his tan skin while his hand remained with a badly burned scar, other than that though, nothing new. He didn't care, Aesa had seen him shirtless before, he didn't think a towel was much different. Ace looked up at Aesa and sighed loudly but blushed when his stomach growled declaring his hunger. He just sighed and closed his eyes content on sitting there waiting forever.

Aesa turned at the two males made quite a ruckus when the entered the kitchen, and she made a choking noise when she saw that Ace was clad only in a towel. A rather small towel in her estimation. ”So I apologize or welcome you for him not having clothes.” Lyuath’s taunting words caused an even deeper blush to stain her cheeks as she nodded. ”Yes. Clothes are important.” Realizing she wasn’t making an exceeding amount of sense, Aesa gathered up Ace’s meal and brought them over to him. She took a moment to take advantage of the fact that his eyes were closed to enjoy the look of his lean if marred body. She didn’t think she had seen anything so beautiful in her entire life. Or tempting. With that embarrassing thought she all but dropped his bowl and utensils on the table, his spoon making a clattering before settling itself.

Quickly, Aesa situated herself in a chair opposite Ace so she wouldn’t be tempted to stare at his waist where the towel was so precariously wrapped upon itself. Not that the expanse of exposed chest was any more innocent. Clearing her throat, Aesa looked just about everywhere but directly into Ace’s eyes. ”Are you feeling much improved since being able to bathe?” Momentarily a devilish impulse to ‘accidentally’ push over his napkin crossed her mind so she would need to stop and pick it up. The very idea!! Aesa doubted her face would ever cool down or return to its normal hue.

Laid his head calmly on the table just relaxing himself at it being rather comfortable despite just the towel. As if she only tripped, he just looked at her confused as he picked his head up and his silver wear to eat some food. He ate it slowly not really noticing how awkward she was or how much she was staring at him until she cleared her throat and he saw her deep blush. He looked at her and blinked a few times before his cheeks were barely brushed with a slight red color, but not enough to really say why. It was for the face he kinda found the situation odd now. Being around guys so much with only those two other girls in so long, he kinda forgot all of that. "No, not really, Lyuthan had to pester with questions and I cut myself shaving," he sighed rubbing the large nick on the side of his face. He then just rolled his eyes and kept eating. "Foods good though, thanks," he said finishing it up rather quickly.

In a much slower manner, he started nibbling at his bread as if it would eat him back if he wasn't careful. Normally, his eyes just wondered the house or traced the knots in the wood, but then he would look at Aesa to see her red face still there and it made him blush more now. It was a torturous cycle that made him almost smile, but at the same time want his clothes.

Aesa couldn’t help but squirm under the palpable tension in the room. When he had finished with his stew and thanked her for the making of it she simply nodded and all but snatched his empty dish away to rush and take care of it. Anything to be up and moving. While she cleansed the bowl she poke over her shoulder, ”I haven’t really had much time to speak with Lyuath - Not strictly true, she had been too preoccupied by his health to really and hadn’t put much effort into conversation with the other mage so I’m not really sure of our plans going forward. Clearly you are unsafe, even with Marri. What was to be our next step after meeting with Lyuath?” She didn’t want to overwhelm him after he had just regained consciousness but she could all but feel their remaining time slipping through their fingers. Before what happened she didn’t know but it felt final.

Ace closed his eyes and sighed sitting the half nibbled on bread that he hadn't eaten. He rubbed his face and then looked over at her doing the dishes. "Um, we are gonna have to go visit one of the higher thieves, then we'll probably get our info from there on what the mages need, then get you back into the castle without you getting killed," he said with strain in his voice as he rubbed his temples. It was hard to think and his head started throbbing again. He snarled and growled a little bit as he closed his eyes tightly before he slowly relaxed as he got use to the throbbing and it lessened. Only thing he could guess is that the toxin was still in his system and might stay there from how concentrated it was. It would be months maybe longer, he knew that. His death was still there possibly, and that knowledge made him start to get on edge again. As she felt their time together slip away, he was feeling her slip from him and his own life from the other.

Aesa chuckled at his explanation of what their immediate future looked like. Well you summed that up very nicely. I imagine there will be some finer points we will have to work out along the way hmmm? Though she hadn’t seen him rub at his temple, she turned at his growls of pain and frowned at his obvious discomfort. Lyuath had said he was past the worst and though for optimism’s sake she would like to trust in his judgement he hadn’t proven it to be overly sound as of yet. By the time she had wiped her hands dry and made her way back to the table, Ace was looking more at ease again. Hopefully it was just lingering effects from being bedridden for so long.

And how many higher thieves are there? She had learned that as informed as her Council thought themselves to be there were still aspects of the lower world that they were woefully ignorant of. There was much more to their politics than those up above gave them credit for - and she for one was very curious to learn as much as she could.

He rubbed his face a few more times before relaxing again finally as the pain went away and the throbbing in his side had dulled some. "Um, I'm suppose to be the top one, king kind of thing, then there are nine higher ups. Second in commands, if you will. Sebastian Vleck is the one we are gonna go see. Unfortunately, he hates me, but he's honest and will keep me safe from it being a kind of correct thing to do. If what ever can help you is here, he'll know of it, if its not, we'll just have to go farther," he said with a gentle shrug before putting his hand over his side gently just wanting to kind of relax for a few more days, but also, he wanted to just get moving. Relax because he hurt so much, get moving because that was just how he was.

It didn’t matter that Aesa was lacking in medical knowledge - anyone with eyes could see that Ace was still suffering. She was loathe to ask him to go further and meet with this Sebastian who he had just admitted harboured ill will towards him, but she was also hesitant to keep pushing the task farther out. She knew that she would be a priority situation with the Council and that eventually they would locate her, and by proximity Ace. Thanks to her they now knew his face and would persecute him alongside her given half a chance.

After studying him for a moment more she nodded as though to herself. Yes it was time to move forward, for in the end it would spell safety for Ace and that was paramount. ”How quickly can we search him out?” As much as she would like to leave this very moment, she knew they would have to wait until they could at the least locate some clothing for Ace.
