I actually tend to use stuff from my dreams quite a bit in my writing. This is one of the reasons that my writing usually has an ethereal quality about it.

blaugh I still love that one you did about the school for witches and the one witch-in-training who was trying to get back at her roommate.
Oh, and Chibi, I had a lulu of a dream last night that I think you will appreciate! I dreamed that after I passed my comps, I had to take another class for my degree (irl, I am done with classes), and it was--get this--an ANIME class! As in, we watched and discussed anime like it was a literature class. You (Chibi) were also in the class, and for the final exam we had to watch this one anime (not one that actually exists, but just some random dream-anime) on our own. So I found a fansub online and watched the thing to "study." Then, on the day of the final, we were told to go take our tests that evening in a classroom that was in the back of a Hobby Lobby store, but I also found out that afternoon that the fansub I had watched was totally inaccurate (i.e. not the translation that the teacher, who was somehow one of the original makers of the anime, wanted us to watch), so I was frantically trying to watch the "right" version before the test. I finally rushed into the test site (Hobby Lobby) and was running through the store when they turned off some of the lights and announced that the store was going to close for the night. Everyone else had already taken their exams, and I missed my chance. Then I tried to contact the prof to see if I could reschedule, but I never heard back from her. Then Chibi showed me her (already graded) exam, and the questions were true/false and multiple choice, but totally subjective. As in, the "right" answers were the teacher's opinions. I realized that I was pretty much doomed as far as grades went, but oddly enough, I was pretty nonchalant about it. Anybody got any thoughts on that one? neutral

Anybody got any thoughts on that one? neutral That's hilarious! blaugh I wish I could have taken an anime class! But, I think your dream is pretty straight forward. It's one of those test anixety dreams that is all too common for me. I have even had them over the summer when I didn't have any classes and when I already got my grades back. It's a fear of not succeeding, and I know for a fact that you're worried about not succeeding after you get your degree (although I am 100% positive that you will make a very good living for yourself). As for the Hobby Lobby, that is a place you frequent. Plus, you are kind of obsessed with that store. The anime part is trickier. Maybe it stems from my pushing so much anime on you. blaugh Btw, the story about the witches and the roommate was the same story. I think I based it on Wicked and how I felt about some of the people I lived in the dorms with. lol

I know it was the same story; I guess I just didn't make myself clear. And yeah, I have this constant fear of failure. I constantly feel like I'm totally out of my league just being in grad school, even though I consistently make straight A's and passed my comprehensive exam (the next-to-last hurdle between me and my degree). I just keep worrying that I'm really just a big joke and will never really amount to anything worthwhile. I guess that shows up in my dreams a lot.
Oh, and in case you need a laugh, here's another trippy dream I had earlier this week: I was in college, but the weird thing is that the college was neither the school where I did my undergrad nor the school where I'm doing my graduate studies. It was just this big, unidentified university. Even though I'm a history major and have never taken a journalism class in my life, in the dream I was on the staff of the university newspaper, and MY EX WAS ALSO A REPORTER FOR THE SAME PAPER. Apparently in the dream he had decided to go back to school. And I was still struggling with my feelings for him. xp Anyway, he and I were assigned to write articles together, so we were doing research for an investigative piece involving this big secret (that was so secret I don't even remember what it was wink ). Apparently we discovered something we weren't supposed to, because we started getting threats and being followed and stuff. Then, we were in a courtyard or something near some buildings (in a setup that vaguely resembles a local elementary school irl), and as we were discussing the big explosive secret we were writing about (and what to do about the people who were after us), when The Ex suddenly pointed to the wall of one of the buildings directly across from us, and he said that our enemies had written our fate on the wall. I looked up and saw the name of a scary mental hospital (not a real one, but one I recognized in the dream). Then I was in my dorm room (which resembled the room I lived in irl during my freshman year of college), and these guys about my age burst into my room and grabbed my arms and said they were taking me to "the home" (which I recognized as slang for the mental hospital). That's when I woke up. And yes, I am most probably going to turn this into a story of some sort. And I am fully aware that I read way too many old spy novels. blaugh

Maybe you did get in "too deep." rofl I thought it was kind of cool how I dreamed that I was Sailor Moon. I love dreaming that I have superpowers or magical powers. Btw, for all of you who don't know this, I have a thing for books and movies about people with superpowers/magical powers/special abilities. I especially love the ones where the protagonist thinks that he or she is completely normal and then later discovers his or her secret abilities. It lets me pretend that I might be one of these people who finds out that she is a magical girl or something. lol (And just for the record, this isn't the first Sailor Moon dream I've had.)

I had a strange dream in which I was a sort of knight living with someone I really truly loved, except they were married to someone else and I was more of a "best friend" sort of status. There was apparently some sort of war going on too, because soldiers started raiding the town and burst through the door. I told the girl to run, and pulled my sword and had an epic sword fight. I killed four or five of them on my own, then fell to mortal wounds. My eyes rolled back in my head, and last I saw was the girl hovering over me, trying to treat my wounds and crying...
The worst part was how real the dream seemed at the time - every little detail flowing into my head like a memory...
Um. Wtf head.

They say that if you die in your dreams, then you die irl. I'm glad to hear that's not the case. I can't say that I've ever been killed in a dream before. I've been chased and pursued, but I've never been really injurred in a dream.

Let me preface by saying that there were some bad storms yesterday that knocked out the power for a few minutes, and I was too lazy to reset my alarm clock before I went to bed. (I was lazy and just asked my mom to wake me up at 8:15.) I dreamed that I was back in high school, and I arrived at the cafeteria where everyone wait before they open the halls and stuff. Incidentally, back in high school, the halls actually did open at 8:15 because classes didn't start until 8:30. (We got out at 3:30. The adjusted hours were because of traffic and other schools close to ours.) Anyway, I recall entering the cafeteria, but it wasn't as full as it normally would be at that hour. I somehow knew that the clocks were messed up from the storm, so I asked if the bell had already rung to release people to the halls, and they told me that it had. So, I started walking down a hallway to go to my locker, and noticed that the clock read 8:10, but I didn't think much of it until a crazy substitute teacher caught me in the hallway and asked me why I was there. I explained about the clocks being wrong because of the storm and how it was already past 8:15. The substitute said that that was no excuse because the clock said 8:10. I tried to be polite and appologize and offer to go back to the cafeteria, but she pulled out a pad and started writing me a detention slip. I've never had detention before because I'm one of those model students that everyone hates, so I got scared and bolted. The substitute followed behind me with a detention slip, and the rest of the dream involves trying to escape this wacko substitute. I remember going everywhere in my dream: office buildings, railroad stations, Japan, etc. At 3:00 (which is weird because we didn't get out until 3:30), she stopped because the school day was over and she had no authority over me anymore. A man who owned an office building that she had been chasing after me in showed up and forced her to be taken away to some reality tv show as punishment. Weird dream, huh? I say that the lesson of my dream is to never be early. rofl

I've had some doozies of dreams, but here's one that I had last night. But first, let me preface with what I was doing last night. I was watching the first episodes of a J-Drama called "Kaibutsu-kun." The lead role in it was played by Ohno Satoshi. He also played the lead role in another J-Drama that I just finished called, "Maou." Incidentally, Ohno Satoshi is a member of a J-Pop band called Arashi, and they did the theme song for both J-Dramas. So, last night I dreamed that I was at an anime convention, and Arashi was there. Except, for some odd reason which only dreams can explain, Ikuta Toma was a band member instead of Ohno Satoshi. Here's what he looks like: Click for a picture of a very hot guy.Another picture of this amazingly hot guy.Link to DramawikiIf you do not know how Ikuta Toma is, he is a very popular J-Drama actor, and he happens to be my all time favorite J-Drama actor. Like Ohno Satoshi, Ikuta Toma is also a J-Pop singer. Ikuta Toma also played the 2nd largest role in Maou. I guess that some of these factors must have worked to put Ikuta Toma in Arashi in my dream, but anyway, I remember hanging out with him. He put his arms around me, and I got a friend of mine from college (Sylvia) to take a picture of us. He was so cool, hot, and romantic in my dream! whee It was such a shame to randomly be woken up and have that wonderful dream end. xp

Last night, I dreamed that I was infected with the G Virus, and I was slowly turning into a grombie. In my dream, I first started noticing turning green around my shoulder area. There's a huge chunk of my dream that I can't remember, but I do remember that my mom and brother also started turning green and presumably into grombies. I think it's safe to say that I spend WAY too much time on Gaia.

rofl rofl Seriously?? Yeah, I'LL say you spend too much time on Gaia! Holy cow! You should start watching and reading a lot of knitting how-tos so you can dream about knitting. Or spy stuff!
Speaking of which, I totally need to read more spy novels so I can have another one of my gnarly espionage dreams.

You want to know what's worse? That wasn't my first Gaia dream. sweatdrop But, I am going to try to cut back a little from Gaia. There's no need for me to be on for 5 hours a day, especially when I'm searching for a job.

Heh heh...Chibi, I think you will get a kick out of this one.
This morning, I dreamed that I was at Chibi's house for the weekend, except that even though it was still in the same place, her house was TOTALLY DIFFERENT, and she told me that they'd just moved in. Furthermore, Chibi and her family were telling me that the house was an old hotel or boardinghouse or something, that it was HAUNTED, and that you could hear the voices of the former residents through the ventilation system. Needless to say, it was a pretty creepy house! It was really dark and gloomy everywhere, and Chibi's room was the only place I felt remotely safe. Chibi's room, like the rest of the house, looked totally different than it does in real life. Chibi's actual room is really small and is done in pastels. Her room in the dream was huge and had dark wood paneling on the walls, and she had two beds. Another strange thing was that even though I knew Chibi's grandmother's evil Cocker Spaniel, Freckles, was around somewhere, I never saw him during the whole dream. The only dog I saw was a HUGE and very friendly dog (think Scooby-Doo, but without the ability to speak doggie English), and even though he apparently belonged to Chibi's family, nobody knew the poor animal's name. He was such a sweet dog too. Anyway, the next day (in the dream), Chibi and I were trying to get ready for an anime convention in a major city near Chibi's town, when MY DAD came over, apparently having ridden the 200+ miles from my house to Chibi's that morning on a motorcycle (my dad has never owned a motorcycle in real life)! And he only stayed a few minutes before saying he had to get going because he had other things to do. So Chibi and I were trying to get ready, and I didn't want to be left alone for even a few minutes because her house was haunted. Meanwhile, I was trying to coordinate my lolita outfit that I had brought to wear, and nothing was working. My mini top hat wouldn't stay on my head, my hair looked awful, and the skirt and top that I had decided on suddenly didn't match, even though I'd worn them plenty of times before and they'd always matched. Finally, Chibi and I got to the convention, and it seemed like the ghosts from Chibi's house were chasing me, because I kept feeling like I had to run, and any delay--like at the registration table when I couldn't find my paperwork to prove I'd pre-registered--only made me panic more. It was so weird! I don't know, Chibi---what do you think? rofl
