He had not expected a logical reply from the glow bug, and for a moment all he could do was stare in surprise with a piece of bread in his beak. He broke it up and swallowed it down before replying. "You are very white and shiny. Much shiny. And you are long and thin. All like glow bug." He stated his reasoning as if he hadn't been complete shook that someone other than the half-idiot had understood him. Krotak didn't know what exactly this creature was, nor did he know if corvid-speak was something that all glow worms understood, or if it was only this glow worm, but he would guard his tongue from here on out around all glow worms. "Bread is good. Steak is better, but there is no steak, so bread is good." What sort of dumb question had he been asked anyway? If it wasn't good at all, he wouldn't have been eating it, but if it was his favorite thing, he wouldn't have been waiting around for the glow worm to give it to him, he would have just taken it out of the bag, or better yet, taken the whole bag. Screw the winged rats! "The name's Krotak. Soon to be head raven in these parts. Current mentor and service raven to a half-idiot. I'm sure you're honored to meet me." Not even the fact that he was accepting food from the glow bug would diminish Krotak's ego. Basically the only thing that could knock him down a peg were the bosses, and when the half-idiot schooled other corvids faster than Krotak could take control. That said, he was the half-idiot's main bird, so that gave him a status boost wherever he went.
"So, do all glow bugs speak corvid, or just you?" Maybe the half-idiot and the glow bugs had some similar ancestry or something? Speaking of the half-idiot, Krotak figured he should probably get going back to him, and that he would get in trouble if he didn't bring anything back. "Listen, the half-idiot is waiting for me. He can talk to corvids too, so I'll put in a good word for you. Unless you want me to introduce you?" He didn't know all of the intricate details of how idiots conned other idiots, but he knew the half-idiot was pretty good at it, and this glow bug was ripe for the conning.

The elf stared back at the raven for a moment once it gave it's incredulous reaction to him talking to them. Then he remembered the other animals here on Soleil had reacted quite the same the first time. It would seem his gift wasn't to common here. Back home everyone could do it though. Soon his thought was confirmed as the other bird spoke again, though it would seem they were just considering earlier. But when the bird spoke up again, Ayluin chuckled at the answer. He sure was a curious bird. "I see. So that is why the comparison. For a moment I thought you didn't know what I was." he replied and smiled when they went on. They seemed to be on a more intelligent level than the other animals. In which case perhaps his earlier approach wasn't the right one.
"I understand, Mr. Krotak, I'm indeed pleased and honored to meet an intelligent being as you." the elf said and gave them a bow. Of course he was quite aware he didn't need to to a bird, but they sounded so serious when they introduced themselves that he just figured he might as well. "And perhaps I should bring a steak then next time." he replied and chuckled. Of course ravens would prefer meat more than anything. At home they were always praying on carcasses and small rodents, yet they were a welcome guest at the castle. If only because they kept the field mouse population under control which tended to eat their seeds for the harvest. "If you permit me a question though, why do you call them a half-idiot?" he asked curiously, leaning back a bit to his more diplomatic upbringing.
The other animals had moved away a bit as they looked at the two. Ayluin felt curious to just how far this particular raven's intelligence reached and who they called a half-idiot, or what it all depended. He was met with a question as well though and he blinked a bit. "Well no, I don't think so. Where I come from it is very common, but around here it seems to be a rare trait." he replied. Intrigued by this super intelligent bird, the elf listened as they spoke of the other and he smiled before he nodded. "Sure, I'd be happy to meet more people. And I am done here." he said as he gave a few last pieces of bread to the pigeons, nuts to squirrels and offered Krotek another piece as well. Ayluin wasn't sure where this would lead but it was certainly going to be interesting. "Lead the way, Mr. Krotek" he said and decided to stick with the Mr as they seemed the type to be proud from their earlier sentence. With that the elf would wait until the bird would get up and show him the way so he could follow them.

With the overall scenery, her pace was a more relaxed sort: not as guarded as it would have been if in a more crowded space. Generally focusing on the ambiance itself, Ethi’s wander didn’t have a set path, more meant to get an idea of the area itself. In her relative unfamiliarity with Soliel overall, having a better sense of where to go, when needed or when it wasn’t important, was a must in itself. That not many people were around made that easier, the lack of crowds also meaning it was easier to see around herself without issue. In crossing by a few more lined trees, the direction she was taking lasted a few yards longer before the rabbit stopped and looked around, both to get an idea of where she was beyond a relative glance and in noting another figure nearby. Even when it may have seemed out of the way, asking them for directions; at least in-passing; might not inconvenience them too much, and it could allow for a better sense of what the layout was like.
After that pause and waver, Ethi started off at a careful path off to the side, a short distance crossed before she stopped a few feet away and passed a question, though relatively abrupt, ahead. "Sorry, have you seen any park maps around?" There hadn’t been any on the walk so far, while she hoped they had. If not, continuing as she had been could start again, although she was not against general conversation, in the chance things turned out that way.

Reaching up and touching a few of the petals that still clung to the tree, Minata smiled. They were soft against her fingertips and made her feel fuzzy and warm inside. It was nice to be surrounded by something she loved so much, it almost made her feel as if she was in her own bubble. She was so enthralled with the sights that the sound of someone's voice ended up startling her from her thoughts. Her hand instinctively gripped her bag strap tightly before she relaxed at the realization that it was just a simple bystander passing by. Giving the stranger a warm smile, Minata shook her head slightly. Sorry, I haven't. Pausing a moment, she took a step forward. This was her first actual encounter with a local so she wanted to make as much conversation as she could. I-I'm actually new here. I've recently moved from Tokyo. The name's Minata. Smiling more, she held out her hand hoping this stranger would be willing to talk with her.

At the question, the other turned at the suddenness of it, briefly taking on a startled note. Nearly shifting from where she stood, Ethi didn’t have much time to say or do anything beyond a flicker of recognition passing through her features. This went away about as quickly as it started, the rabbit not as uncertain as a moment earlier. Instead, being passed a warm smile, the brief alertness in her stance reversed on itself similar to the earlier, other shift.
After a brief shake ‘no’, this was followed up by another response that echoed it in meaning; Ethi further nearly saying something in the pause that followed, but held back her breath toward the end of that break. Then, holding a subdued but still surprised tone with the other’s next words, her own response to them ran through the rabbit’s mind, this as a side-thought that was then voiced. "I actually can say the same for being new here, although I don’t know that where I first came from has a definite translation. I go by Ethrehi." In being told what she had been, the thought that it would be rude to hold back her own side to things was a mental flash that had crossed her mind beforehand, yet one that was followed. Despite not smiling herself, Ethi’s tone was clear and not reluctant, going with the same precedent; the rabbit offering her hand to briefly shake Minata’s own. While it wasn’t a gesture that lasted long, after letting go; her hand falling to her side again, her own earlier statement was put up for clarification.
"It’s only been a couple weeks since I arrived. After unpacking everything, this is my first day free." While true, this was in a relative sense; the fact still stood that she needed to shop later for food, beyond what she had brought herself.

Smiling more when the stranger accepted her hand, Minata felt the nervous knot in her stomach recede back. It was always a hit or miss when talking to people she didn't know, but she was glad to see this stranger wasn't afraid of talking to her. Ethrehi...what a beautiful name. Her blue eyes observing her, Minata's eyes soon widened. What she had thought was the girl's hair were actually ears. What a pleasant surprise! She had never truly met others that weren't human, her being a house hermit and all, so this sight pleased her greatly. Her smile widened more and she drew back her hand to her chest, a slight giggle leaving her lips. She's adorable! I've never met a kind like her. I wonder what she's like. Does she eat human food? Do human things? Does she hop around for fun? Burrow into the ground? Does she, herself, live in an apartment like me? Becoming lost in her own curious thoughts that swarmed her mind, she soon blinked in silence realizing she probably looked ridiculous staring at her with a large smile and bewildered eyes. I do apologize for staring. I, too, have just recently unpacked all of my things. This is my first day sightseeing. I was actually hoping you had some suggestions of places to go. This park is the first thing I've seen besides the housing buildings I've passed. Pausing a moment, she smiled at the idea that popped into her head. What if we explored together? I mean, we're both new here. I wouldn't mind an adventure buddy. Minata, in speaking, hadn't realized just how forward she was being. She so desperately wanted to fit into her new home and community. She wanted to meet and have as many friends as possible. Was that wrong for her? She wasn't quite sure. But still, she tried.

In letting go of the other’s hand, she didn’t quite feel out of place, but in the directions she did: they were passed off to the side of her perspective. If they became too much part of her thoughts, she would let the same tones pass through into her demeanor; not fear or anything close to that, but it could have been taken that way. At the same time, having her name be complimented at all still caused a waver in hesitation, a note that was subdued but held surprise for a moment passing through overall expression. After a moment, nodding, an attempt to say something was passed ahead. “Thank you. Yours also sounds pretty.” This, though blunt, was meant to be genuine, Ethi speaking after giving the notion a run-through and pushing aside doubts. Although the other seemed slightly odd, which wasn’t anything the rabbit could say was bad even when it was unexpected, she would have stepped back in thinly shielded aversion if knowing what the other was thinking. As it was, other than being stared at, anything that had been noted so far was also put aside as the other being as unused to things as she was.
After an apology was passed ahead, Ethi’s attention moved off to the side briefly as she thought over where she had been so far, this shortly addressed. “I wouldn’t mind either. There are a lot of places I haven’t seen yet, a few only from a distance.” Further ignoring the forwardness the other seemed to be holding onto, this was from being used to it by her own backdrop, even while the difference in setting and person did make a difference in perception. Not many people since she had started traveling had been this abrupt, but beyond appearing strange, the indirect familiarity was enough to influence her words and decision further. Ethi briefly checked around herself, trying to get a better idea of the overall surroundings before she said anything else. After that space of a few moments, having gained some opinion, the same was asked about Minata. “Where do you want to go first? The park has to end somewhere rather than loop.” Remaining where she was for now, slightly self-apprehensive, letting Minata decide which direction to head seemed best, socially; if it turned out she wanted to lead in that sense. ---

Well, truth was he really didn't know what exactly the glow bug was, but there was no way he would admit it, so he would just label anything that looked like him a glow bug. Simple enough. Though with every action he was starting to like the glow bug better and better. At least this one knew to appreciate him and even bowed like he was supposed to. The half-idiot would never do such a thing. If he hadn't sworn to help out the half-idiot...man what better options he could have had. "Yes, bearing steak would be very nice, thank you." Though at that, he couldn't help but feel a little guilty: it wasn't like the half-idiot gave him poor meals to be mean, he genuinely did what he could. It was just that the half-idiot didn't really have anything good to give him, which made Krotak seek out other food sources. But would it be cruel to go out and get something good to eat from someone else, and leave his ward eating those worm things? Yeah, it probably would be. He would need to take at least some of it back to him.
He wasn't too surprised by the question, it seemed that the bipeds used a different terminology from what he preferred, so there were always some barriers in communication, at least until the bipeds learned his terms. "Idiot is my term for the featherless creatures you see walking about upon two legs. He's only half that, so he is a half-idiot." That was a simple enough explanation, and thus far he had found the glow bug to be rather intelligent, so likely he had understood what had been said. He was aware that the other creatures had backed off, but that wasn't surprising: both the glow bug and himself were the alphas in this group, and the others were betas at best, it was the place of a beta to stand aside for the alphas. Listening to the glow bug's response, he had a few doubts about his intelligence, but at the same time, he managed to glean the information he was after, so it worked out well enough. Apparently it was common for glow bugs to be able to talk to corvids, but it was not a thing that idiots could do, which only strengthened the argument of his nomenclature. He took the last piece of bread that was offered to him, swallowed it down, then took flight, circling just enough that it would be easy for the glow bug to keep up, but also hoping that he was high enough that the half-idiot would spot him too.
Fortunately, Krotak's scheme had worked, and Erik was quite aware that he was returning. Moreover, by the circling, he could tell that Krotak was bringing someone along. Hopefully, the bird knew how to pick a sucker by now.

Minata smiled when the girl complimented her name as well. She didn't think it was anything as special and unique as Ethrehi, but she accepted it regardless. When she stated that she hadn't been to many places Minata felt a bit of hope. She didn't want them to go exploring and Minata be excited while Ethrehi had already seen the sights. She wanted them to discover their new home together, and it seemed she would get her want because the girl was willing to explore with her. Grinning, she shrugged slightly. I'm not quite sure, actually. Glancing around a moment, her eyes passed the path she had come from and looked at two others that swirled through the forest in different directions. Hmm, why don't we head that way? Pointing to the path that led away from them, she then looked back to the girl beside her. Would that be alright? I'm sure we'll find the end of the park soon, then maybe we can find a shopping district or something of the like. Minata still had money from her father's will, something that allowed her to move here in the first place. If they found stores she wouldn't mind indulging, if only for a moment.

Once looking around, trying to get a sense of the further-off surroundings, Ethi’s turn back toward Minata was met with a shrug and smile following a pause. Some thought, momentarily taken on at her first response, faded off as the other looked around as well; Ethi’s perspective then settling from that indecision. With the further mention of heading down the direction the other pointed; the rabbit’s line of sight drifting over to the opposite path, there was a turn back toward herself before Minata asked if that would be alright. Nodding, her own reply came around shortly. "It shouldn’t hurt; the walk so far didn’t seem that long either." For a moment, thinking toward what she had on her person, the line of verbal thought continued. "If we do, I brought some money with me. Looking around the shops would actually be fun, if not help." Aside from food, there were various other things that could become necessary eventually; even if they weren’t as urgent.
After a short pause and look down the direction Minata had pointed out, the rabbit briefly glanced back to the other; signaling she was going that way. Then, starting off at a moderately slow pace for her to pick up on, she held the idea to mind to pick up the pace somewhat once the other caught up.

While the reply did not exactly answer his question, Ayluin decided to leave it at that at the very least he could glean that this 'half-idiot' Krotek spoke of might be half human.. It made sense enough after all. It would seem that Krotek called anyone that was human (at the very least) idiot. The elf idly wondered if that meant he was a cut above the others in the raven's eyes as he called him different. Either way, this bird was quite funny. Ayluin had smiled when he was replied about the steak. It would seem he had some shopping to do soon, before his next feeding. Not that the elf would just do anything he was told, he just liked to share his happiness and that included his money as much as he could. He quite enjoyed this new simple life.
When Krotek accepted the last piece of bread and took off, the moon elf followed him with his gaze. He wasn't sure what the meaning was now, if he was to follow right away, but upon the raven's circling he understood they did mean right now so Ayluin started walking and followed Krotek as he led the way. His gaze alternated from following the bird itself to following his shadow. Since he might otherwise get into trouble if he tripped and fell if he didn't watch where he was going. He never lost sight of the bird through the trees for long and always could refocus. It wasn't very long before he entered a part of the park he hadn't been to yet. In the distance he could spot a lone figure leaning against a tree, but his gaze didn't linger on them for long since he was supposed to keep track of Krotek.
The moon elf did wonder where they were leading him, but for now he would trust in the raven. After all they spoke of him meeting somebody, so it couldn't be that bad, right? Ayluin had met a few new friends already. Though the one he seemed to hang out with the most was Rowan so far. Perhaps he should check in on her soon again. Ah but now was not the time to be getting lost in thoughts. The elf looked back up at the sky and after a short moment he located Krotek again which indicated to him that he at least didn't stray from the raven's path and he was still following them correctly.
Smiling when the girl seemed to agree on the chosen path, Minata nodded firmly. She was sure they'd be able to find a store and do some shopping. It's be an interesting bonding experience for the two, and maybe because of this they wouldn't feel as though they were strangers toward each other. When she began to walk Minata followed closely beside her, but not too close to where it'd be uncomfortable. She grinned then and looked over at her new companion. So, where did you come from before? You said you have just moved here. Was it some place far? Minata was quite curious. She had come from a pretty far away place, at least very far in her mind. She wondered if this girl had done the same.

In her drift off by a distance, Ethi for a few moments looked back after starting to slow. Despite a lack of any general wariness, she still knew enough to keep up some sense of awareness. Soleil was a place that lacked any ambiance she could note, but years spent away from home didn’t mean she had lost any common logic within backdrop. After the other started off ahead in the direction they had picked out, her gait picked up again and her line of sight moved back to the side rather than more behind herself. In a moment, thinking over what the other had asked and what she could say, what was put through consideration was shortly passed on ahead. "It’s somewhat far, set within Europe and Asia, or a place around there. The area is generally called Kazakhstan, if I’m right. --Was where you came from like that?" Although sort of able to guess where, going by Minata’s name: it could be more ambiguous than that, causing Ethi’s words to be more withheld by background inquiry.
The term for the country she had originated at wasn’t a faint one in her own mind, although other ones came along with it within thought that had to be distanced. It might not have been a familiar place to some, the name at least, while it could be looked up if that became necessary. Her line of sight briefly flickering ahead, the path seemed to be going in a gradual curve, although by a longer distance a connected one stood out from the trees, Ethi partly guessing and holding some aim that it may lead to another part of the city. A few words meant to point it out, even when it may have been obvious, were also brought around. "There’s a walkway up ahead that could lead out." If it did, she wasn’t sure where they would end up, but that would be up to chance.

Krotak landed on Erik's blindside after giving a single caw. It wasn't really a word or anything, just enough of an exclamation that Erik would know he was coming. As he settled, he spoke quietly in Erik's ear, "this one understands me, but he gives food to the rats. He should be easy." Erik was glad to know that even if the pale one had been bribing Krotak, at least the raven was still faithful to him, at least for now, maybe if the bribe were better he would have to watch his back. Krotak waited for Ayluin to be at a reasonable distance before introducing the two, "glow worm, meet the half-idiot. Half-idiot, meet the glow worm. There, now my bipeds know each other." And for him, that was all that was needed. The half-idiot could take whatever resources he needed, and the glow worm would know who to contact if he ever wanted to arrange a meeting. Of course, Krotak frequently went out flying and scouting, so he would probably find the glow worm easily enough whenever he needed to.
Erik had honed his ability to look unimpressed for many years now, but even he had to admit that an eyebrow may have been quirked when he saw just how exotic this target was. Long silver silken hair and pointy ears definitely suggested an elf, though without knowledge of the elf's society, he couldn't know what terminology the elf would prefer. Granted his sources were fantasy novels, but from them, he would have classified the elf as either a high elf, or a moon elf (a subdivision of high elf). He had never stolen from someone obviously non-human before, but unless he had plants guarding his pockets, it shouldn't prove to be much of a challenge. "I'm sure Krotak has already introduced himself, loudmouth can't help but boasting. Doubt though your name is Glow Bug, or that it is a preferred name. Likewise, don't call me half-idiot. Name's Erik." He didn't see anything of worth on the elf's hands or wrists, so he wasn't about to instigate a handshake. Though he would need to get closer at some point, but first it was better to observe, find out ahead of time where he kept his wallet and such. Much easier to get away with it if you only had to hit one place.

The moon elf was slightly surprised to see Krotak's path was actually leading him to the man leaning against a tree. Ayluin hadn't paid them much mind until now as he thought they were just randomly hanging out here. Still as the raven landed on the other's shoulder it was clear to the young man that this must be the one Krotak called 'half-idiot'. He looked full human, and kind of roughed up, but Ayluin knew not to go by appearances. If anything his meeting with the drow had reminded him of that. They had turned out to be much older than the elf had given them at first. Since this seemed to be the man that Krotak wanted him to meet, Ayluin didn't hesitate and he approached the duo until a respectful distance. When Krotak introduced them he chuckled a bit before he waved. "Nice to meet you." he said.
It didn't take long before the other man took over from the raven and first off corrected the name given by Krotak. That did make it easier to address them. Calling them half-idiot would have felt odd and perhaps a little disrespectful for Ayluin. "My name is not Glow bug no, you are right about that, but if Mr. Krotak likes that name." he replied and smiled shrugging a bit. "My name is Ayluin." Since Erik didn't instigate a handshake, the elf didn't either. He knew from his studies that some people just preferred not to for a myriad of reasons and he would oblige. The elf kept things simple most of the time. His intelligence was of no doubt, but simple usually made some things work out a lot better. Not to mention 'complicated' meetings was one of the reasons he hit the road.
This preference for a simple life could easily be seen with how the elf carried himself. Simple clothes, simple hairstyle, though it take a considerate amount of time to wash and brush but the moon elf was used to that. When he was out and about in warmer days he didn't even have pockets, but used a belt and sachets instead, just as he was used to at home as they were often working with plants, despite his father's object that his son was not a gardener. The only thing that was missing was a middle size dog, maybe.
