Simple...it's in the Noctuslain treatise on Shapeshifting. When one shifts between one's true forms, or shifts in general, one expends a great deal of energy...especially if the shift is made in times of great distress or heightened emotion...Sira's just sleeping to recover his energy...but he will need to be fed...force fed, if necessary, the next time he wakes up...or he'll begin to bleed out the enrgy he's restored...Sleep fills the vessel...but it's food that allows the energy to stay inside and buttresses the walls that hold it.

You don't fool me, ma'am...Firemages are sensitive to heat...and to pain. I can feel the pain emanating from your ankle right now, no matter how well you hide it. I don't mind stopping...and we can pick the stew up along the way...but like it or not, one of us is taking you home.
