tam stops and starts to set up camp... wondering what the cub will come up with this time... the last time he took off like that he had found a quartz crystal the size of his fist, and nigh on scrying capacity... he sends corby off to hunt down some dinner while he and crystal set up their small lean to and gather wood for a fire... grateful that the twins had decided to join them on this trek through the forest.... and worried about kero as he has increasingly become more and more independent over the last few months... not that he minds the independence, but he is concerned that when he does need the cub to listen, he won't...

*Kero finally pops up with a chunk of rock...not very large...but it looks like more quartz...until Kero splits it with a claw, revealing an amethyst geode the size of his paw*

now that's a real beauty... says tam coming over and rubbing his ears.... don't see many with that clarity or such a fine cluster.... tell ye what... since we're stopping for the night... ye want to go bath first then eat... corby found a nice stream with a fair sized pool nearby... with no nasties like there was at the last one... and when ye come back, why not bring us some fresh water as well... says tam handing him a brace of water bags hung from a leather harness....

*After twisting and turning in the water for a few moments, Kero brought back the water...suprising Tam...usually it was a fight to get Kero to listen...his teeth, like they always were here, were chattering...even more than usual...his eyes were red-rimmed, but still normal green for the most part*

tam takes his cloak and puts it about him... ye feeling alreight, kiddo? ye don't look so good... was the water very cold... corby thought it a touch warmish... but then i think that neko has ice for blood at times...

tam moves him closer to the fire and checks on him often... watching him closely for signs of what ever might be wrong...

tam offers him a steaming bowl of stew, reminding him to blow on it before eating then sits down beside him... nothing i hope... ye just seem a bit more out of it than usual after yer bath... ye didn't breathe in any powders opening that geode did ye... or stumble over a batch of bad gas down there...

Note: Remember...this is a desert creature we're talking about...plus he hates cold to begin with...more than anything, chill and frost would pain him.

tam smiles and hops to his feet... stay here and keep warm, he says disappearing into the surrounding forest... he is gone for a long time... corby and crystal fight over who gets first watch... and still he has not returned... fianlly out of the darkness comes a familiar whistle and tam comes into view... his left hand is wrapped in a kerchief and from his fingers danges the familiar charm, only now it sports a bloodred ruby along the finial... he places it about kero's neck and immediately kero finds himself wrapped in a warm he had forgotten existed...

tam taps the charm and smiles... as long as ye wear this ye'll be wrapped in the warmth of emotion... i had to draw on something... so i pulled from there... and it still works as originally planned... iffin ye need me use it... i might actually be able to hear ye even more clearly now...
he goes to the fire, nods to crystal who ost the fight with her twin and pours some hot water from a small pot onto the kerchief and cleans a neat cut in the palm of his hand.... before tying it up in another for the night....
