"The battle ends when one of us can no longer stand. But then, you should be used to lying at the feet of someone with power, slave boy." the King grinned, getting into a casual stance. He looked quite excited to start the fight, and challenged Talbot with his eyes. "I'll give you the first attack, then I'll defeat you quickly. Try to make this entertaining for me."Talbot nodded, then took a cautious step forward before charging straight for the king. He tilted his blade, then took a swing at the king without any hesitation, his sword cutting through the air with an audible slice. The King blocked the attack, then flicked his wrist and chuckled when his counter sent Talbot a few steps back. "Confident. I like that, slave boy. Try this." he swung his lance down at Talbot with great force, grinning when it instead made contact with the dirt as his opponent dodged. Dirt flung up from the impact, surrounding the two of them.

The mechanic could only watch with baited breath as his friend fought with the king. Despite not being well versed in arena combat, he noted their movements, learning bits & pieces.

The king was quick, and took several jabs at Talbot, clearly aiming at less vital points in his body. He was toying with him, but seemed to be enjoying himself the more Talbot dodged and blocked his attacks.Talbot was doing all he could to avoid letting any of the king's attacks hit, but he was clearly out of his league. He had no time to throw any attacks of his own. It seemed absolutely hopeless.

"...Is there anything we can do Boyo?" asked the counterpart. "...We-We can't... T-Talbot would never f-forgive us." he mumbled in response. "Then cheer him on. Let's try & get some of the crowd to cheer for him." Arron blinked & started to cheer the knight on, hoping others would do the same & that Talbot would hear it.

Talbot certainly heard it, and his eye narrowed on the king as he attempted an attack. His strike missed as the King gracefully dodged, but he was in position for another slash, and he took it.The King blocked the attack easily, then spun his blade as he himself pivoted in place. With incredible force, he knocked his lance edge-forward at Talbot's chest, hitting him right on target with the blunt edge of the lance and sending him sprawling backward onto the arena ground."Kkh!!" Talbot cringed, then coughed, the wind knocked right out of him. He sat up and took in a few gasps of air before pulling himself to his feet and readying his blade again. Beads of sweat gathered on his forehead, and he's started to breathe heavily, but he wasn't showing signs of giving up."Come on..." Cherise frowned, though she knew she should be cheering for her King and not Talbot. Unknown to her, however, the two of them were being watched from nearby. It seemed Arron's cheers had caught some attention.

Despite the bleak turn of events, Arron continued to cheer & loudly. He could feel the eyes start to turn on him, but he truly did not care. He was inviting the attention, & for a few moments, he did not feel anxious from it. The pair of them had been through so much & he wanted to see it have a happy ending.

Talbot's body ached from his major shoulder injury, and further still from his most recent battle, but he fought on. A fire burned inside of him, and with every dodge and every strike, it didn't weaken. He wasn't battling for his freedom, he was fighting to end centuries of bloodshed. The King was still at his best, stepping with precision and getting attack after attack past Talbot's defences. Again, his lance plunged forward, this time knocking against the knight's gut."Nng!" Talbot cringed, but didn't fall. He steadied his position in time to block a second attack, and then a third, and he was able to stand upright once more. His armour was beginning to suffer with each blow, just as his body wasA hand reached out from behind Arron out of nowhere, and landed directly on the back of his neck, large enough to take a firm grip. A sharp object pressed up against the mechanic's back next before a deep voice whispered, "Come along, and don't make any sudden moves."

His cheering stopped abruptly. The person behind him could feel Arron's body shudder & tense up from the metal touching his back. The person's actions made the young man relive a terrible memory, causing the color to drain from his face. Arron tried to glance at his assailant to see their face, & his eyes also tried to find Cherise as well.

Cherise was too absorbed in the battle to notice Arron's sudden guest.Talbot cringed when another attack knocked him off of his feet. By then, the tattered shirt he wore was gone, and he was having a hard time seeing past his own sweat with his only usable eye. The person behind Arron was a man, who looked to be a rook, judging by his armour. He was enormous, with massive arm muscles and a cold, angular face. He pulled Arron to his feet by the neck, then shoved him towards a doorway. "Walk."

For a moment, Arron mustered up his courage & tried to duck under the rook's arm to make a run for it. He was aiming to run back to Cherise, who could navigate the arena much better than him. She would also be able to talk down the Rook if needed.

"Big mistake" the man said, and two others stood in the way of Arron, though they were only pawns. It seemed the three of them were working together. "Come back this way, kid. I wanna talk to you." The two pawns each had a thin sword at their hips, and they held onto the hilt, prepared to draw if Arron refused.

"Your way of talking involved a-a knife in my back. N-Not a-a good first impression..." he said, looking at the pawns. Arron was sizing them up, & hoped his on sheer size would intimidate them.

The two pawns were both ladies, and they appeared to have had their fair share of battles. One had a scar across her nose, and the other had eyes colder than ice. They would stand their ground. "You want to chance us having a forth companion? A bishop that can trip up your friend in his battle?" the man asked, his tone serious. "How long do ya think he'd last without movement in his left leg? Or maybe both legs."

Anger flared up in the mechanic. He turned around to meet the rook. "What... Do you want..?" he spat at the man, "Say it now." Arron sounded dangerous & it showed by his hand crystallizing slightly. "...Watch it Boyo... You're letting your temper get the best of you. Without your medicine that can be bad." warned the counterpart.

"I know who you are. Or... I know what you can do." the rook said, shifting the blade into his other hand. "I saw that crystal trick you pulled not long ago, and all those soldiers you took out with it. That's a lot of power." he explained, eyes trained on Arron. The two pawns approached Arron from behind, intent on grabbing both of his arms and forcing them behind him.
