*Kero calls back*
None! As long as they return to the great Fire once a day, they absorb enough energy there...they don't need to eat, though they really, really enjoy it...when they do stay out, the consume roughly the equivalent in wood of a human's need for energy in a day and a half. So about a log every three days.

Estelle chuckles at the look on Shar's face. "That young man was teasing you, I expect.... he doesn't seem to be one who'd lie to get attention."
"Who... Tam?" says Sahr in surprise. "You are probably right. I don't think he can tell a lie... not a true lie that is... right, m'lady?"
Fortuny smiles and nods. "He's very very good at twisting words, but no... I'd say it is against his nature to do so. Though he does make a lot of statements from the heart that people seem to think he means for them to take a face value... I'm not completely sure that is the case though... some of the stuff he says is to make people think and think hard."

*Estelle's Salamander laughs so hard it falls off her feet...as it climbs on, the bluish tinted lizard remarks*
Firrrrrremasterrrrrrrr says he'll second that motion, Dawnmistrrrrrrrrrress Sharrrrrrrrrrr.

Shar smiles at the salamander and laughs. "When I first learned who he really was, I was so impressed... in awe actually... but ye know... he really is a down to earth individual... who guides by living his life the way he wants everyone around him to live theirs... kind of amazing really, when it comes down to it. No fanfare... no big "do this because I say so" or anything of the sort... just honest to goodness... well... goodness..."
Estelle, who honestly has no idea what she's really talking about just nods in agreement. Shar sees this and blushes, realizing how close she's come to blowing Tam's secret.

*Kero comes out*
She's just talking about the fact that sira's a famous bard, that's all. Besides, everyone thought it was strange anyways...I heard through the hearthflame you originally called me a spoiled brat, Mrs. Estelle...back when I was still a little cub...

Estelle nods. "That was before I got to know you, Kero. You were always pulling pranks and getting in trouble... and he never seemed to punish you."

*Kero nods*
I heard a lot of that...not that I was spying, mind you...but I learned early on that people won't tell you your faults up front...so I asked my Salamanders to listen to people, very lightly...and if someone mentioned a way I could perhaps improve my behavior, to tell me about it...though this did result in a number of suggestions reaching my ears, all of the same variety, and detailing the same punishment...*Glares at Shar*...which has only been delivered to me once...and not by my Sira.

Shar shrugs. "Don't look at me, I'm not the one who spanked you, Hopian did. But I did hear a few of Master Talesian's lectures and they were harsh enough to peal paint. I think a spanking would have been a far lighter punishment."

*Kero's glare could level buildings...and he immediately calls a tongue of flame out from the fire, forming it into an illusion of the time that Shar had spanked him...during the stint that Tam had spent as the winged lioness Ai...from the time Kero was five until he was eight...*
I never counted Hopian...if he spanks me, he spanks himself as well....you, on the other paw...

Shar gasps and laughs so hard, her hand coming to cover her mouth. "I forgot all about that day... ye were really out to get my goat and he was in no shape to do anything about it.... don't you ever forget anything, Kero... that's ancient history."

Nope...never a thing...especially not when someone turning me over their knee makes me sleep for a week...didn't Sira tell you to milk me first?

Shar sighs... "after the fact, yeah... he read me the riot act first, then pulled out Hopian's notes and highlighted, underlined and notated all those salient points I had somehow overlooked."

*Kero chuckles*
Like the fact that My venom glands were fragile, and are located in my rump, at the base of my tail?
*Looks at Estelle*
You are familiar with the fact that I'm venomous, right?

Estelle shakes her head. "Actually that is not a very well known fact, I fear. Not deadly I fear, fragile sacs located near the tail would be dangerous to both you and everyone around you..."

*Kero nods*
They're much tougher now...though repeated, hard impact will still break them open...I can endure being hit...just not for the number of times called for by a paddling. And yes, my venom nowadays is quite deadly...though in those days, all I had was Melatoxin...the venom of sleep....which you saw me use on Sira just a second ago...in small doses, it's quite the analgesic. In large doses, it's a ticket to lullaby land...
I can use two more dangerous ones, though again, they have their medicinal uses...My paralytic Neurotoxin can be used in conjunction with melatoxin to keep a patient still and quiet during surgery...and Mortitoxin, in carefully measured doses, is death to diseases...though it is extremely painful to undergo this as therapy. And the treatment is dangerous...one drop too many..well...look at the name of the venom...Morti-toxin.
