"I'll hold you to that." There was the few bars of the dramatic opening and...they were off! Twirling and careening around the floor, chaos set to music.
(I think the occasional solidity adds something to the character though? Like, kinda Lady Hawk-esque. Fading can touch this world, but only for a few moments and that makes his smokiness even more sad and poignant?
I shoved most of Minty's hardships in her backstory, but I might change that at some point. Running rps is fun, so why not torture some stories out of my character? xD Sorry, Minty.
I think it's how the character handles the hardship that makes it though. Tobias puts on his brave face, even if his smile is a little sad, it's still genuine? (At least to me. Maybe I don't pay enough attention.) And that's sorta what makes him a fun character more than a tragic one. Sure, bad things happen to him but Tobias doesn't dwell on it. Monster's character is very similar, but it's the fun characters that have the greatest ability to tell tragic stories. I think the contrast of doughnuts and tea and chilidog eating contests highlights the seriousness of what they're going through.
The whole thing kinda reminds me of the Doctor Who quote "Because every time you see them happy you remember how sad they're going to be. And it breaks your heart. Because what's the point in them being happy now if they're going to be sad later. The answer is, of course, because they a re going to be sad later."

Minty Andee Clearly I am mid-western. Clearly. If you ever visit, it's a ginger ale tasting party. WE CAN MAKE BOSTON COOLERS.
(I think specifically, it was the blue ribbon stockings now in CrosStitch, that one peacock fan and...I think that was actually it. A fan and socks. That's less than what I wear now xD I might have been able to afford the ribbon sleeves too I think?) Sounds great, we should make all that happen! What are Boston Coolers? >////> (Did I mention I was proud? So proud, yes yes. We should do one of those things at some point where we show what our avis first looked like when we started. )

Someday! Boston Coolers are like Root Beer Floats except you use ginger ale (or ginger beer (which is non-alcoholic just usually more spicy)). The ginger and the vanilla is so good together. So good.
(Like a throw-back party? That sounds like a great thread theme dress-up day sort of thing! You are genius, my friend.)

Exactly, a touch hard to resist at times. Our poor characters..
Yes, sad but genuine. If others are happy, he can find some joy in that even if things are not ideal for him. Heh, that was an amusing addition that just sort of grew. I like there being these little things that make him happy.
That is very fitting, I like it.
Nothing to fret about, sometimes one just needs to blather. ))

(Yes! sometime when Gaia doesn't have like, 50 events in the same month. I didn't even really participate in them and I'm totally burned out. So glad I don't still run regular event threads. I would be dead, Gigi. DEAD. Really? That is amazing! The new Archie comic should be in the store too when I get to work tomorrow.)Beads of sweat sparkled on her brow as Minty kept up the manic pace. (Tobias is just a well-rounded character. One moment sipping tea, enjoying doughnuts, the next dancing with a wild woman Minty, and then trying to avert people getting chopped to bits by his lover (which I won't forget because that was when I remember meeting him) and none of it feels forced. These are all things that he would just naturally be doing. And talking to him, he just feels like a whole person who experiences joy and sadness in equal turns. I mean, I totally have a writer's crush on you and him. SO THERE IS MUCH TO BLATHER ABOUT.)"Hmm. I thought for sure someone would have had tea by now." She frowned, "Maybe we should give up and have cake."

Sure they were both beginning to show signs that this dance took some impressive stamina, but the grin he gave back to her gave no hint of it truly being a strain. And as each step and turn inspired others, it couldn't be helped but to throw his own curve of a move in now and then. Doing so of course knowing she could take it and turn it back on him with something new.

Play to you strengths, as it were. Like many, I include aspects of things I enjoy and appreciate so as to better get across something that feels believable. Even if he is some freakishly tall, horned, creature of smoke, that happens to look fairly humanoid..I'd like to think it still seems in some way possible he could exist.
I am honestly humbled and touched that you feel that way. Thank you for sharing that, it means a great deal to me. ))

Tobias adding his one twists (and spins) to the dance made it that much more wonderful. As his and Minty's styles fused, it became more than the two parts, but a whole. If the blonde had been focused on anything but Tobias's face (the only still thing in her current world of whirling lights and color) she would have hoped the other dancers would have the good sense to move away.

(Yay, alive~ Yeah, would have been nice to have a bit of time between so as to better appreciate each. I didn't even go in the npc thing . . . I may grab that as well in case of extra arts. Or the possibility of meanwhiles~ Oh good, I'm glad. I ended up getting one that had a bunch of cross overs of Cartoon Network titles because it had the Eds. >w> )
