Overall I would prefer art because if the yaoi is drawn well and has a weak plot, I most likely will still enjoy it. Plot-less sex could be nice from time to time, depending on my mood. However, if it is just shounen-ai then I need a through storyline, but I will still refuse to ready an amazing manga if it is looks bad to me. But don't let this mislead you; I am an aspiring novelist and an avid reader so plot is very important and preferred (if it can be helped). I just don't mind a lack of it from time to time if the art consists of eye candy.

It has to be 50/50 for me. I cannot enjoy a manga with a crappy story line no matter how good the art is, and I cannot fully enjoy a manga with a fanbulous story line if the art is too sub par. Heak, even Junjo Romantica took me a while to get into because I was trying to get over the sketchy style that I wasn't quite accustomed to. I also know I will be shot for this by some people, but I gave away about of my CLAMP manga and ALL of my Yuu Watase manga, because even though the art was amazing, I really couldn't stand the story lines. I am an odd cookie, I know neutral

I forgot if I posted in this thread already. Hmh, I'd say both is important, but I don't like stories with bad art.

I believe that's a really difficult question. You can't really have one without the other. If you have good art, but not a good story, you get tired of it because it doesn't have a plot. If you have a good story, but no good art, it sort of turns people off, especially when people can't mentally picture things and they need to visually see it in order to enjoy it.

Story matters for me XD I can ignore art...to some degree cause if it makes my eyes bleed I'm sorry but they need to write a novel instead DX; Art alone doesn't attract me cause then I'm just going to rant about how stupid the relationship/book/Webcomic/whatever was. So yeah Story all the way

I'd have to say both with a slight emphasis on the story. Need the art to make it super sexy but the story keeps you reading.

to me artwork is everything, being as i love to draw anime and benefit from things that i see, but if the story is crappy crap, then it sucks! I can just ignore bad artwork sometimes, unless my eyes melt and i have to fall out of my chair into an eye puddle O.o BOTH are important! BOTH I SAY!!

I say both are important. That would mean, I am on the fence rather than on a side. You just can't have a really good yaoi without the artwork. And if there was no story then that is just, Blah! *sticks out tongue* Sorry if I offended anyone.
