i made a dress for my dollfie, it turned out quite nice. i got the pattern from haute doll. i think it needs a nice petticoat and socks to go with it though.

Beautiful work, Cryrin, and antichrist69!

I've been sewing clothing for my own dolly, but it's not exactly Lolita, maybe on the border of country Lolita, but it's just classic little girl clothes for a little girl.

Thank you, as always, Pearl. biggrin

Off White Tulle Lace, Black Velvet Bow, Off White Pearl Strands-- on black headband.
Need to go back and trim the edge of the lace a little better.

And this to match the skirt I'm working on (seen over in the WiP thread).

If it's possible to modify the dress at this point, I say ditch the red accents, they're too much color for the rest of the outfit, which is really tame. Even the red in the print is much more mellowed out than the bows you've made and the skirt trim.

Also, the bows look a little bit limp, so maybe make them a bit shorter next time so that they support their own weight a little bit better. Otherwise, looks like you've got the basics down. I'd personally like to see the skirt a little bit fuller, but that's personal preference, really.

Also! New update, nothing major and about a month old:

I made really simple flannel bloomers to wear with my underbust JSK to a skating meet-up that never happened. They do make for comfortable PJs, though.

I agree with boconnotto on the red accents-- it seems a little bit too bright for the subdued tones of the print, but the dress otherwise looks good. You're starting off well with things.
If it's possible to replace the red, I would say to do so with a solid black.

I also agree with her on the notes of the bows being a little flimsy because of their size. Making them smaller, as she suggested, would do well. Or, if you're using a pattern of two rectangles sewn together and then gathered at the middle, I suggest using my bow making tutorial instead-- it tends to make bows that are a little more sturdy than the other method. smile

thaks for the feed back.
I accidently made the skirt part of the dress too short, so I added a little length with the red ribon and the ruffle. I was trying to make the bows big on purpose to hide me look so big in the middle. redface

I might try to cover the red ribon with black ribon if i can. sweatdrop

one of my other loli friends told me that I should get a better peticoat that is more of a cupcake shape than just a puff. I am in the process of doing that. sweatdrop

The shape of the skirt actually looks fine, to me.

It has the bell shape flaring at the hips, it just seems like it's a bit anemic, of that makes sense? Maybe try using more fabric next time, gathered at the waist, so you get a bigger cupcake poof. (:

To get a good amount of poof with a rectangular skirt pattern, you want the amount of fabric to be 2 to 3 times your waist size. The greater the amount of fabric, the greater the poof.

As an example-- I have a 23-24in waist.
24 x 3 is 72 inches, or two yards. So the front and back of my skirt are both 1 yard wide.
Also, in terms of length-- it depends upon how tall you are, obviously, but the average Lolita skirt is 20 or 21in long. My legs are just a little on the longer side, so I make my skirts about 22in long from my natural waist. smile

So when I draft out a pattern for a skirt that doesn't have a bottom ruffle or anything to it, the pattern is 37in wide and 23in long (-1in for bottom hem, -.5in for sewing into waistband, +1in waistband = 22.5in long. I add an inch to the pattern itself if it's a skirt portion of a dress and therefore has no waistband).
