Acorn would look around as the party advanced, and would follow shortly behind Max. She would see the skeletal remains of the dragon, and would frown sadly upon it. "Should... should we try breaking the chains, somehow? I don't think he'd like being boun like that, even now..." she would inquire, addressing the question more towards Seraphina.

While the nickname "Holy One" was a little too lofty for her, she wasn't that fond of "Scales" either--still, she had more important things to worry about whatever nicknames her teammates chose to call her. She just hoped they wouldn't call her those names in public; it would give people the wrong idea.

To Max's question, she would shrug and simply reply, "I don't know--maybe. I lost my memories from before the war." She would drop it with that, without any further explanation. As far as she knew, she could have once been the resident of one of those eggs, but she highly doubted it. Her first memory consisted of her naked in a cage surrounded by mages. She could still remember their cold calculating stares, as if they were observing some sort of an experiment, rather than a person... She preferred not to think of those times.

To Acorn, Seraphina would say, "It's a she and as far as I can tell she has been dead for centuries. She hasn't felt anything in a long time and I wouldn't touch anything in this room, lest you want to mess with those skeleton guardians. They must be waiting on something to trigger them."

The practical side of Seraphina told her this was nothing but a pile of bones, but she still couldn't help feeling a little upset by this scene. The dragon was one of her kind and had obviously died in a lot of pain. She knew what it felt like to be chained down and tortured and she wouldn't wish it on, well, almost anyone. However, she took this ball of feelings and hid it down inside of her. No reason to let her teammates see her get emotional. It would just be a sign of weakness.

In response to Max's curse, the one guard's eye set ablaze a bright blue. Turning to face the group the cursed guard spoke, but made no other movement. "You are not tainted. I will not fight you. You may pass with Nera's blessing... But...Volkaansiiv and offspring shall remain until curses on the stolen offspring are resolved."

(Max would know, Passive skill checks for the win;(religon) Nera is an obscure name of the Raven Queen.

Acorn would know: (history) Volkaansiiv was the name of a blue dragon, ex-champion of Tiamat, who went Benedict Arnold on Tiamat's armies to fight for, and ultimately became a champion of, Bahamut ... only to vanish completely from history some 150 years later)

Morinth barely pulled his gaze away from the skull since first seeing it, now, face twisting in unbridled koboldian fury. He'd speak in angry draconian, ranting about how this was the most unholy of crimes. This utter deranged defilement. He'd then turn to the guardian skeletons, snapping still in the gutteral tongue of dragons. "Where?! Which way to seek those who shall be skinned and flayed! Those that shall be gutted and hung from their entrails! Who have taken the holy descendants!"

"Oh...that's the first time I've heard a skeleton talk"
Seraphina was a bit surprised by the skeleton suddenly talking but it definitively said some interesting things. Everything she was seeing was lending more and more credence to what the elf had said. If an egg of one of her kind was down here they had to find it before the cultists, and protect it.

Morinth was ranting to the skeletons in some language she didn't understand but it sounded vaguely familiar to her. She doubted the skeleton would say anything more but she figured it couldn't hurt to ask it a question. "Hey, what's this curse you speak of how do we resolve it? What happened to the egg from the empty case?"
PostPosted: Sun May 07, 2017 11:42 am

"The unhatched egg was taken from it's case, that egg bore three lives. Magi took two, and left though that door" The skeleton would point in the direction you came in. "Others; mended the shell, gave the last new life, and cursed it in the same breath. Then took it down stairs. It was 20 years ago, and we have yet to see them again."

The skeleton would pause for a moment, as he tap it's shield in it thought. "We are a-ware of 3 curses on the child; A curse slowing it's development in it's egg, another that forces the egg to hatch during an eclipse with Sardior’s Tail is visible in the sky, and finally force the child will assume the mantle of Unborn and Volkaansiiv will rise with legions of dead rise in her shadow. We assume simply destroying the egg, before the hour of the eclipse, will break the curses. We are unsure of the status of the child, if the egg is broken."

(Max(religion) knew the term Unborn, would mean it would be in a state between alive and undead. Put simply it would be born a Dracolich

Seraphina, Max, and Acorn(History, Arcana[because crazy people often make things happen during celestial events], Nature); would know Sardior's Tail as a comet, only visible for one week, once every thousand years, and it would be visible in a begin it's week tonight. They would also know a solar eclipse will happen in 45 hours)

Max would bite her lip, the words this skeleton speaking had been making her uncomfortable. It wasn't the content per se, that was rad as hell....but the content of it was worrying. She put a hand on Seraphina's arm and looked up at her. "Scales," she said, her tone rather somber, "Even if it is your cousin, we hafta stop it....That thing can't hatch...and we hafta go fast too..."

Seraphina would stiffen at being touched by Max and then relax, but only for a moment before pulling away. "I-I know that. It's not like we're actually related, just because I'm a blue half-dragon. Whatever they mean by unborned, it doesn't sound like a fitting fate for a dragon, and I won't risk an undead apocalypse, so you don't have to worry about me doing what's necessary."

Seraphina put on a stoic face but inside she was hurting. This was not what she wanted to hear. Just as she was getting her hopes up of meeting one of her kind... She had even began to toy with the idea of what they might do after rescuing the egg. Could she perhaps even have hatched it and raised it as her own? Life would never be so kind. Well, she would have to bury those feelings now as well. They had work to do. Seraphina would turn to the rest of the group. "Well, shall we continue on then?"

He reigns himself in just a bit. "Down. It was the last way one went and it may still be there. This place would be a good one for hiding it in." He turns and moves towards where the skeleton indicated and begins heading for it.

"Humans are so weird!" Acorn who say quietly to herself after sizing up the skeletons.

Was it something they ate? Was it a natural reaction to death? Seriously, what the hells?!

"Volkaansiiv, huh? Must be her..." Acorn mused, looking upon the dragon. See, it'd take fell magic to raise it, it didn't just up and... wait, hold on a tic...

"WAIT! Sardior's Tail?!? The comet? But... but that's TONIGHT!" the shifter exclaimed, holding one hand in front of her mouth. "And... and... Volkaansiiv will rise and do bad stuff! Non-Bahumuty stuff!" She would gesture towards the skeletal remains of the dragon with both arms, while trying to lock eyes with Morinth. He seemed a little too angry to be making those skill checks everyone else was making, so she'd catch him up to speed, because friendship!

"Oh, and the Ellipse is like, two days away too."

Seeing the stairs the kobold was eyeing and moved towards, she'd ask, "So, like, did the person with the egg hide away to stall until the annointed hour?"

The next room held a Spiral staircase going down and an ancient device to bring supplies and people deeper into the earth and back up. If someone would try the device they would find it was still in working order, but slower than taking the stairs.

No matter the method used; the next few floors would hold nothing, but rubble blocking the only other way out of the current room(a side from going deeper in the wabbit hole). On the floor the device stopped work, the crew would find themselves be standing in knee deep(save for Morinth would be waist deep, and Max, closer to chest[halfling children aren't small]) in ice cold clear water.

A small note hung from a torch via a string.

Quote:
Funny one and gang,
First off, to answer your question when we first meet. Rose was an agent of ours. You would know her as the honor guard of the graveyard. She was our middleshifer with the town guard, and Dara is part of a code phrase of ours meaning, "oh s**t, we need help down here." It seems our message never reached the appointed recipient. Pity that, but maybe we can help each other.

I am Styles of the Runner's guild. Kob, the kobold, and I are merchants and will be glad to offer our services to you. And as a show of good faith, keep that sword and dagger. The dagger will allow you into anyone of our safe rooms, and the sword is just fun.

There is a safe room in this room. The lock is hidden from the vision of the healthy and living, but the dead and the wounded can see it.

May shadows hide your steps,
Styles.

P.S. Please burn this message, after you are done.

The rest of the room, held little inside the vision of the torch lights. But, outside the only doorway the sound of splashing, somethings were running towards them...

(Morenth; -Thieves' Can't- and Streetwise, There is no true Thieves guild, but a few guilds working under that umbrella title. The Runner's guild is one of them, a guild of craftsmen and merchants of goods and services(usually, magical items and intelligence; never Blackmail, thuggery, assassinations, prostitution or kidnapping), They are known to exchange goods or services for gold or knowledge, as well as, working with the town guard. Rumor has it; the beggars and street preforming bards act as their eyes and ears.

The Dragonborn quickly just placed a holding hand on his battle ready companion."Orcus priests, I presume... "

"Hi!" Acorn greeted loudly, lifting a furred hand excitedly as she bounced slightly in place. "I'm afraid you need to have your eyes checked. None of us are orcs, or even memotely orcish. Though if you want someone who knows a guy who knows a guy who parabolly an orc, it's the kobold."

The dragonborn kept a tight hand on his lizardfolk friend, as Acorn answered, as if he held the leash to a massive timberwolf.
"Ah, Common isn't my first language. I refer to the name of the Demon prince of... Rhak, what's this word, Diil?"

"Undead." The lizard responded. "Nust kod Fahliilro tuz. Nust sahlon do sos. krii niin" Rhak added in draconic(They wield Elf's blade. They smell of blood. kill them)

"The demon prince of the undead, you aren't one of his priests are you? And where is Valna?"

Balling her hands in excitement in front of her, Acorn would exclaim "Me too!" with a big grin on her face. "Common is so weird sometimes. I bet humans indented it. Like, there's so many words that aren't very intunementive! It was soooo confusing to learn! Like..." Acorn would stop, looking momentarily puzzled, her eyes darting as she thought. "'Refrain'. Apparently it means to stop doing something. But at bard class, they say refrain means to repeat something! Do you know how confused I was at first?!"

She would then shake her head. "I don't worship any demons. I pray to my ancestors though! My father's mother's father's father was a pack alpha once, and Vati said he used to fight like a demon. That's the best I got. Does that count?"

Finally, she would lean in towards her peers, holding up one hand to the edge of her mouth. "Psst! Is Valna someone I'm supposed to know? I think I forgot who that was..." she would whisper to Seraphina and Max.
