Sammy dipped her egg roll and nodded in agreement. "Definitely, especially if you're not familiar with the topping, either." Somehow in the process her roll dropped into the little puddle of soy sauce. "...oops." Shrugging, she just picked it up and took a bite anyway.OOC: Sounds good. ^^

Shrugging, she just picked it up and took a bite anyway.OOC: Sounds good. ^^ There was a hint of a wince as he watched it drop, but he tried to gloss over it for the most part. "If that ends up being too much sauce, you can have some of mine. I like the flavor and I would hate for you to miss out on enjoying it as well." Setting his down, he waited to see how she did with her somewhat soaked egg roll.
((It's sad how much this is making me crave egg rolls.. ))

Sammy smiled and waved off his concern. "Thank you, that's really nice, but it's okay. I like spicy food." She tapped a finger to her chin and scanned the platter. Finding some hot red peppers mixed in with the vegetables to demonstrate, she picked up one after another and ate them without a tear or a grimace. "See?" she said cheerily. "Not a problem. Soy sauce is a bit more tart than hot, but it's in the same family I think."OOC: Ah man, that's my bad...I don't have any egg rolls, but uh, here! yum_burger yum_cupcake yum_salmon yum_pie *throws tasty emotes at you*

His eyes went wide, and he actually sat back in slight surprise as she ate the peppers. When he spoke, his voice came out hushed and in awe. "I can hardly believe you just did that. I can not imagine that being very good for you. Are you sure that is alright to do?" The concern was evident in his voice, he was not fond of peppers himself. Closing his eyes a moment, he shook his head. "Pardon me, you did just say you like spicy things. I am not partial to spicy food myself, but as long as you enjoy it, it must be alright. But please do not feel you need to prove you like it to me. Proof is not always required, sometimes one's word is enough." Giving her a small smile, he picked his egg roll up and took another bite.
((Heh, I'm being bombarded with food emotes. Thank you, I think I'll see what I have here to work with. ))

Sammy leaned forward, stifling a fit of giggles, trying not to make a scene. It was hard though, the look on his face... She held her stomach and squeezed her eyes shut, trying to be keep her laughter at a minimal volume in consideration to those around her. "I'm sorry, but that...that look...it's really funny..." She took a deep breath and exhaled, rubbing her eye and making sure she wasn't crying now. "Ahhh, Toby. I get that a lot...and it never gets old." She took a bite of her sauce drenched egg roll and topped it off with a sip of tea. Taking things a little more seriously now she looked over at him with a calm expression. "It's all right. I guess I just have a high tolerance for it. Been that way ever since I was little."OOC: Sorry for disappearing like that, I sort of crashed last night. But good morning now! Here's one for you...(>'-')> yum_donut And one for Tobias... (>'-')> yum_donut

Raising a brow, he simply sat there a moment trying to let her calm back down. It was nice to hear her laugh, even if it was at his reaction. "I see. Better my concern amuses than upsets, I suppose." A smirk tugs at his lips hearing the next part. "Is that the case? So you enjoy getting a reaction at times as well? Such things I am learning about you. I must be sure to return the favor." At that he raised his cup to her, then sipped his tea. "So long as you can handle it, Sammy my dear."

Sammy rolled her eyes playfully as she swallowed her current bite. "Well it's not a competition or anything." Besides, she was pretty sure he'd win. A lot many times. "But if you owe me one, I guess if it evens out our karma..." She wasn't sure what it was about Tobias that made her always want him to have his way. Sammy diverted her eyes, looking down and poking at her plate, trying to decide what to sample next. "It goes back a ways, to grade school I think. I always made my own lunch and I just threw in whatever sounded good. When the other kids saw that spicy food never fazed me they always freaked out. Something about it just always makes me..." Her shoulders started to shake and she tried not to giggle again. Her nose wrinkled and cheeks reddened, making only the quietest squeaks.OOC: Me too. Heh, looks like we're generating a fan base.

"Mm, of course not. However, you have such nice reactions, I am not sure I could help myself." Listening to Sammy, he finished his egg roll. A grin started to form seeing her trying to suppress her giggles. "It amused you that much? Laugh then, you do not need to hold back. Though the squeaking is rather cute, I will admit." This was much nicer, a happy Sammy. He couldn't help a chuckle himself, her amusement was infectious.
((So it would seem. Not something I expected, to be honest. ))

Sammy let slip a couple giggles, just barely hearing Tobias over them. "I...hehe...don't want to be disruptive...but if you say so..." She composed herself and dabbed the corner of her eye with her napkin. "That's nice, thank you." she added after quieting down, laying the cloth back on her lap. "You're always so collected, I guess that's why it was so funny. I'm...not sure I've ever seen you off guard. Or if I have, it must've gone over my head." she admitted, scooping some rice into a bowl.OOC: Me either. It's nice...though I'm not exactly sure people wanna throw wood on my imagination campfire. It's barely containable some days as it is, heh.

She had a point, rare was the time he was caught off guard. "I prefer it that way. It is not always wise to let my emotions get the better of me. Surprise or concern are not so bad, but certain others.." Here he trailed off, gaze shifting off to the side. Seeming lost in thought, he was quiet for several moments. At last he blinked shaking his head and looked at her again. "What are you trying now?"

Sammy looked up from her bowl, chopsticks dropping the chunk of rice it was holding onto. Luckily it landed right where it was supposed to. His presence changed before her, distracted or otherwise alluding to something. "Tobias...?" she said quietly, wondering what could be the matter. He shook his head and focused on her again, seemingly back to normal. She smiled, not fooled, but deciding not to call attention to it. If there was something wrong he'd let her know in his own time. "Fried rice." she explained, holding her bowl out for him to observe. "It has fried egg, carrot, peas, and bits of pork. It's quite a blend, and really good."OOC: Nah. At any rate it would seem Tobias often has the upper hand in their dynamic. What harm could I, Sammy's writer, possibly do? *whistles nonchalantly*

"Forgive me, thinking on things that are best left out of a meal time conversation. Bad for digestion, you know." Gazing at her rice, his look became more intrigued. "That does sound good. Though now I fear how this will go trying to eat that with these." Here he clicked the chopsticks together, but still he made the attempt. It was a tad difficult, but he managed to get a little pile to his plate. "Remind me to take you somewhere with utensils that we both already know how to use." He chuckled and carefully tried to eat the rice.
((Or perhaps it only seems that way. Heh, now it seems very likely you do have something up your sleeve. ))

Sammy took her bowl back and clicked her chopsticks together. "There's an easy way to handle that." She tipped the bowl beside the pile of rice and used the chopsticks to push it into the bowl rather than lift it up like before. "Sticky rice is easier to pick up, but sometimes you get lucky with other kinds. Well, then you just..." She held the bowl up to her lips and swept the rice into her mouth. "See?" she said cheerily, bits of rice dotting her cheeks as she swallowed. "Wait, take me somewhere?" she asked, mind doing a double-take. Her eyes were bright and wide, partly confused what he meant by that.OOC: I have many things up my sleeve. Trouble is I can only whip them out when scenes call for it.
