Save a Wounded Opponent

Amidst the fighting, which seemed to be more of an ineffectual brawl at this point (though still in favor of the prisoners!), something would catch Miyako's eye.

She hadn't paid any attention to it before, but it seems one of her fellow prisoners was Sumie, who was trying her best to fend off the attackers along with the others.

One of the "guards" who arrived, however, was Tamafune, who possessed the same red-eye as the others. The two seemed to get into some heated words, but Tamafune did not attack her friend.

She had no qualms about wounding Sumie's mother, however; the unpossessed girl would seemingly fly into a rage and viciously beat on Tamafune until she was heavily injured. After a few moments, someone, possibly a relative, would pull Sumie off, and they were drawn deeper into the swirling melee.

Tamafune would look around, heavily bruised, blood seeping from her lips; as she lay there, she was favoring one arm, which was heavily injured and possibly broken. Looking up, she would see Miyako by the gate of the cell, and she would reach out weakly with her left hand, despite being a good 15 feet away. She still possessed the corrupted eyes, but they seemed more pleading than anyone else Miyako has so far seen with similar symptoms.

She said something, but it was too quiet to be heard over the commotion.

Miyako, what do you do?

If it had been anyone else...

Miyako was cruel, no one would deny that; it was her father's most worried thing about his beloved daughter, but she was finding she was not as cruel as she thought. When there was no real consequence, she could still be cruel but not like this, not to a girl who had been nothing but kind to her before it had started. She didn't seem angry and it was probably foolish. "One moment." And Miyako made her way to Tamafune, although she wondered inwardly how or if the woman had recognized her and if her disguise was that bad but it didn't matter. She'd helped her when she'd been low and now she'd be helped in return. A scorpion pays their debts. wink

She was cautious as she approached, but if Tamafune would allow her, she'd help her up. "Come on, you're better than this..." Of course, at the same time, if the girl did attack, her weapon was ready.  

[Rain Yupa]

"Please..." the girl would say to Miyako as she neared, allowing Miyako to grip to help her up amidst the fighting bodies on all sides.

"Please, stop resisting..." she would repeat once Miyako walked her to safety. She was favoring injuries, proving that this spell did not blind them to pain. "Master Ryuden-sama just wishes to enlighten us... to give all of us meaning, purpose... he doth not mean us any ill will. Why dost thou fight us? Why doth there have to be bloodshed?"

Currently, Tamafune held no weapons, having been mugged for them. She gave no indication she knew Miyako - perhaps she confused her for a different person she knows.

"So much violence and hate, when he only wishes to giveth us harmony..."  

[Tei Kae]

"Harmony?" She scoffed, "Tamafune, I never thought you a disloyal fool. He turns you against your own Daimyo. He wants to destroy your Clan and he is already trying to kill Heichi-sama and you help him!"  

[Rain Yupa]

"Tamafune-san?" Ninsei would ask as Miyako brought her friend back. He seemed unsure what to think of Miyako's actions now.

"That just... fffff..." she would start, stopping to wince as she held her injured ribs. "It just shows how much thou dost not know. Master Ryuden-sama is trying to SAVE our people. Please, just listen to what he hath to say. He doth not mean any of us any harm, I swear it!"

The fighting is ending, the current wave being fought off. Anything you have to say to her, you better say it soon.  

[Tei Kae]

"And you trust him over your own Daimyo?" She'd wait on both her response as well as the response of Ninsei. After all, he needed to hear it as well what the girl was thinking. He didn't want them harmed but if they couldn't be reasoned with...well...

"Ninsei-sama?"Requested his judgement.  

[Rain Yupa]

"Right now? I do. Shizugai-sama needs to see the truth, and once he does, then I will giveth him my full support once more. Ryuden-sama offers us salvation, and without him, all that awaits us is death."

"Ignore her; she knows not the heresy she prattles. If we want to survive, we need to escape," he explained to Miyako.

Miyako gains 3 points of honor for showing mercy to an opponent.

At this point, a new wave of samurai coming to stop the break-out has arrived!

ROUND 4

Step One: Declaration

Miyako, do you stay in Disengaged, or do you move up to Engaged, or do you move back to Reserves?

Step Two: Tides of Battle

The enemy ranks swell by 3k1.

Miyako nods, as usual nothing good came of being honorable as she saw it. She was getting a little pissed about it all. The Kami weren't helping and even if these people were supposed to die like the history books claim they did, it was for a stupid reason. People didn't even remember the Boar Clan! Pissed as she was, Miyako was getting in the right mood for fighting now, and moved up into Engaged. "Let's get out of here and then hopefully see if we can get Heichi-sama and Omiko-sama to safety". After Ninsei, those were the best options as she could see them to securing some kind of something.

There were more foe Boar showing up, but the prisoners still seemed resolute on their escape, and fought back fiercely for their freedom! Leaving the wounded Tamafune on the ground in the cell, Miyako will help guide a wounded Ninsei (who seems a little too light-headed to walk on his own without walking right into a katana) towards anywhere but the cell. Escape is more prudent than waiting and hoping for victory!

Though the enemy won the roll, it was by less than 5, so it is a drawn battle! No army has advantage now.

Step Three: Determination

Miyako, roll Perception/Battle (Mass Combat) to see how Miyako herself is faring in this battle, now that there are multiple opponents.

You may refuse to make this roll. This will count as a refusal of an Battle Opportunity. You may only refuse up to two Battle Opportunities during this scene.

In addition, roll 11d10 (no explosions). Each 10 yields a defeated enemy soldier. Your fellow escaped prisoners have already dispatched six enemy soldiers, so you may add +1 six times to the results of your roll (which may stack). The enemy will be rolling 9d10, and every 9+ will defeat one of your allies.

Since no army has advantage this round, no one gets any rerolls.

If you succeed on a Battle Opportunity, it may alleviate the defeat of one or more allies.

Overwhelm

Around this point, Heichi Omiko would bolt from the basement, clutching something tightly in her arms.

"GET BACK HERE!" a familiar voice would call, and a few moments, Agasha Ryuden would hurry from the same basement with a couple Boar in toe, stopping and looking at the battle currently raging.

He turns and barks some orders to the Boar with him, instructing them on something you can't tell. His attention is currently not on you, and you think you could get close enough to do something about him, perhaps even with a few of your fellow escapees.

Miyako, what do you do?

Using her best commander voice, Miyako gets the attention of those escapees closest to her and directing their attention to the 'Dragon' who stood out a lot clearer than anyone else. But even if they didn't come, Miyako wasn't wasting any time and moved forward quickly, her tanto at hand. The only thing she was waiting on was a clear shot. If they managed to kill this horrible man, maybe this would all end.
