You see, I'm in my junior high band AND the high school marching band, sooo... Two different stories.

Junior high:
Too loud: My fellow percussionists -_-; I have to keep them in line
Won't stop talking: Clarinets
Just not good: Saxes. It's all bad.
Cocky as heck: Trumpets

Marching Band:
Too loud: I don't really know, but trumpets seem to be from what I've seen. Drumline practices seperate.
Won't stop talking: Guardies. Sorry! They stand next to drumline in attendance block so we always get blamed.
Just not good: Not really a SECTION. Our band is great. There is this one guy who came in late so he had to do sax instead of drumline. (He got what he deserved. > biggrin Rivals for way back)
Cocky: Guard. I mean, drumline always talks about how good we are, but we EARNED it. Everyone in the band knows our drumline's beast. But our guard is always bashing on band and saying they work harder, but frankly, they're not that hard of workers OR good.

That only applies to the programs I listed, and I do not generalize based on my school. I've seen some pretty rockin' saxaphoneists and way cool guards. I just think in the programs I'm in...

The most obnoxious people in our band would be the percussionists. I'll be counting out my rests and see something moving out of the corner of my eye-- Oh, wait, that's just the percussionists dancing to the music again, and in turn with that, hitting the drums offbeat. >.< They guys are awesome, but that does get a little annoying. sweatdrop

But the loudest section is probably the flutes. I'm in it, I know. We're chatty. And loud. And totally friggin' awesome. heart

The trumpets in our band have the biggest egos, and pull each other's hair, and whine, and complain, and are always quoting Monty Python and the Holy Grail, so yeah, I'm gonna have to say them.

our band we have the most trouble with Trumpets, Percussion, and occasionally low brass

wahmbulance WARNING A RANT IS COMING!!! wahmbulance

The Trumpets: They play super loud and over power the band no matter how much our band director tells them to stop. They always change the music adding in little trills and stuff and it may sound good to them but when you put it with the rest of the parts it sounds bad and our Trumpets particularly ones in Marching Band hit the highest note they can on the last note of each song making its once again sound like crap and all pinched up and stuff, so if you do this know matter what instrument you are STOP, remember balance and to never change the music in an way shape or form unless you can prove its a typo

The Percussion: Our percussion on the first place is TERRIBLE they cant keep a beat and when ever they play they are all over the place seriously im afraid to march near one i may get hit with the sticks in they're flailing arms. Next they are the only section that can be louder than the Trumpets and you know what at least our trumpets are relatively good our percussion is the worst part of our band and when i say that i mean the best percussionist in our band last year were the freshman. when you try and correct them they get pissy with you and tell you how much better they are than you and then try and play things and fail our Bass drum line didnt even split the part they all played the same at our last nd main competition they got last place while we took first in the rest of our section now mind you it was only invitationals we arent that great of a marching band but STILL.

Now the Low Brass: as one myself i know how the annoying the low brass can be they all have little fights all the time and they wont listen to directions unless you practically beat them into there scull and even than some of them wont listen, now im not saying im better than that being a Trombone in the Low Brass i realize that we have faults and some of them are major but we are not the worst in our band

Rant over
few glad i could get that out of my system

i wouldn't call them 'obnoxious' but in my band the drum line acts like little kids way to much... stare uh... maybe they are obnoxious... just a little... i don't know but they do get very annoying.

The most annoying, disturbing, and insane people in my band which contains about 60 members are the Trumpets and the Flute sections. They really have some major problems and a lot of attitude. I play the piano and the drums...and I play the Clarinet in the band 1st chair. When we Clarinet people try to practice those Trumpet and Flute people are frickin annoying, like they play loud or mess up on purpose and we end up playing one piece over and over or when I try to play solo they start talking disruptively loud or throw stuff now that I hated...I myself felt like beating one of them up with their own instrument. Most of them don't make sense in their logic or what they say and do and could pass for a bunch of pre-schoolers. Most of all they are pretty bitchy at times.

Lol, in my band it's the french horns... but that's only because one of them can play louder than the rest of the band combined rofl the others play to quietly.

I say the Trumpets.
We have like 30 something trumpet players, and 95% are guys.
They have a dance party all of the time, and it's fun to watch at first, until they start to "destroy" something...
But Percussion is fighting neck to neck with the trumpets too.
Although they did attract fruit flies over the winter break because one of the percussion players left a sandwich right beside the trash can...

OK! So here it goes:

The Trombones (at my school, no offence to all you awesome trombone players out there) are you fricking annoying I can't stand it. I've hit atleast two with my bass clarinet before.

Some, yes I did say some, of our trumpet players REALLY need to practice. Some are completely and utterly awesome but other...not so much.

The Drummers can be annoying. They seem to think they're all high and mighty, but they only keep the beat (once again no offence to you awesome drummers out here). They never listen, and they will not shut up.

I'd say one of the most annoying sections this year, contrary to last year is the low brass section.
Most of them are upperclassmen and they all think they need to play super loud.
Two of them went on tour with some other big marching band (I think V.K. if anyone's heard of them) and they make everyone try to do the things they did there, like we're frikkin V.K. or something.
They have the worst stamina out of all the sections and about half of them don't seem to really listen to our B.D.

Now drumline and trumpets are probably tied for second, only because they're usually unfocused and are always talking amongst themselves, even when the B.D. is talking. But otherwise they're fine.

has to be a tie etween trumpets and drum line

In my Junior High Concert band it's the trumpets cause they just flat out fail. But in the High School marching band I'm in, it's the flutes. When I joined they told me they're the most loud section and they probably are, so I'm just sticking with that.

Middle school: Trumpet ((I'm a trumpet, and I was embarrased to be in the section.))
High School: Percussion: Good players, but some are just annoying -_-

Oh god our Horns. We're a small band.. and we've got two horns. They're best friends. They think if they take the bell of their horns, put them together, and play AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE, it'll create a rip in the space-time continuum and time will freeze. So they do it as much as possible.
Oh. My. God.

~RANT ALERT~
I hate to say it but it's the flutes. I'm a percussionist and i can hear them jabbering their heads off from the back of the band room, even during songs. Also, they're all girls who are obsessed with that one gorgeous guy in school, and only care about how they look. 95% of the time their wayy out of tune, and playing wrong notes. I do understand that it's definitely harder than playing the bass drum. But I feel that they could all be amazing if they actually payed attention during band. Goodness, if a percussionist is saying you're much too loud, it really is saying something.

bleh....
