tam nods in agreement... and continues on to the apartment..... of course he gets a royal scolding, but as he had hoped lyssan had saved them both plenty of food... trouble is... tam's appetite, even though he prefesses to be extremely hungry, seems to be a bit off.....
lyssan looks at him with worry in her eye.... yer getting that look in yer eye again, son... she says softly pouring him a large glass of elderberry wine....

*That night, by the light of the new moon, Kero awoke, going to the roof. He quickly drew a circle of Aethr...the most intricate he had ever drawn...and sat down inside, writing a note to Tam...then he gathered the five things he needed...a drop of antidote, found on the beach...a Salamander's tear...his own blood...a piece of Unicorn fur...and water from the fountain of youth...he set the circle spinning, crying out the spell...when Tam's alarm spell awoke him and he dased out to the roof...he saw Kero, still as a cub, sitting in the middle of a black circle, a note hanging around his neck*
Tam...I know how much you care for my younger side...so now I have made my choice...he is yours, Talesian...inside my desk you will find a potion...give it to him when he is twenty years old...it will awaken my memories of what I was...Tam...I love you, you crazy bard....raise me well...if you don't wish this...for I do...the potion will work on me now as well...I am exactly one year old...just out of infancy...be well, my friend.

ye crazy mixed up fool, says tam picking the cub up and hugging him close... he sighs... i can't make this decision on me own... and he carries the cub to lyssan... along with the note....
she reads it and shakes her head... i don't know who's more starved for affection, you or him.... she murmurs putting the paper down on the table beside her... then she looks up at him and smiles grimly... so what are ye going to do....
help me... begs tam... and she again shakes her head... the decision is yours... he trusts you... and he wants ye to do what you want... whether is be good or bad... i cannot know... personally i think he should have just bought ye a pet... but ye know... it might not be a bad thing after all... he needs love... though he claims to want it not... yet he hungers for it all the same...
but i do love him... i told him so... cries tam in desperation...
aye, says lyssan with a wise nod... but did ye show it... remember i've been watching the two of ye quite closely theis past week and trust me when i say this... ye were more free with yer feelings with the cub than ye ever were with him....
tam stares at her then blushes deeply... but he... i... then he sighs... we're two grown men, ma... it's a hard thing to do... i mean i care for him deeply but...
lyssan lalughs merrily... talesian... talesian... talesian... there's more to love than the physical, tam... my proud short sighted tam lin.... aye i know yer tales... just as i know how false they be... don't be snared by convention... don't fall in their traps... iffin ye love him... love him and set him free... don't cage him in the form of a child... but iffin ye love him reassure him... let him know full well how ye feel... and know this.. he cares for ye deeply as well... or else he would not have done what he has... and iffin yer goning to change him back, do it soon.. er tes hears of this... for it fear it might break her heart that he took such a road without confiding in her sensibilities...
tam nodded and rose to his feet, then wandered into the bedroom... still confused but far from torn, for he knew his mother was right...

tam finds the potion bottle and sits down with the cub and it... torn... he looks at the cat and smiles... yer not even old enough to know what's going on are ye... sad really... he didn't ask ye... and he didn't ask me... but i think i know why he did it... he sighs and turns the bottle over and over in his hands....

No doubt you're wondering why I did it...why I didn't tell anyone...well, it's really very simple...and Tes is okay with it, as it is routine...Talesian...every million years, in order to recharge the dust that forms their bodies...a Voidmage must rejuve...total and complete deaging combined with amnesia...I just passed my 13,000,000th birthday...it's time...every time, we must choose a guardian...and I chose you...the potion will restore me so that I may choose another...but I wish to say this...I love you, Tam...and I always will...as a friend...but my younger self sees you as his father...the father he never had...Talesian...I can't make you do something...but I ask you to consider these facts...

tam sighs and puts the potion with the note... then shuts the drawer and l ocks it... damn mage... thinks of everything he does... then he laughs rudely... at himself and no one else... am i truly that transparent?
he picks up the cub and holds him close... well kid... i've never raised a youngun before... taken care of a few, but that's as far as it has gotten... shall we give this a try... hmm you and i? he says he needs this... and he has given me so much... guess i better fill ma in as well... or she's gonna think me a whimp...

tam carries the cub back into the kitchen and tells lyssan about the second note.... she frowns for a bit then laughs... it is almost too pat... but iffin yer up for it... it isn't easy being a parent, tam... and for a professed bachelor like you it will be even harder... the tie to one's own young is strong... the one ye have with him has yet to be tested....
tam chuckles... that's what ye think... he ducks and wards off her spoon, holding the cub safe against his chest... ma!!! careful!
lyssan smiles... well... at least he's old enough to housebreak... better get yerself a sandbox... and a few toys to keep him busy... maybe the triplets have a few things they wouldn't mind sharing... tell ye what... i'll go get a box and some sand while ye go talk to rhea... she probably needs to know what's going on as well as her apprenticeship has been put on hold indefinitely as well....
