I wasn't making a sundial, kiddo. I was inventing a sindial. It was illusion. I was envisioning the weave of magic I would have to put onto a stone to make it show the amount of sin on someone's soul. Because such a tool would make my job ever so much easier.

I did, but then I started wondering whether such a thing could be made, but to measure sin, not time. I'm not going to make a sundial for you. Your Daddy is right. Magic is my main tool, but that which is hand-made goes a lot longer.

"That doesn't sound very good, does it? I wonder if Em is okay... I haven't seen him for days... he wasn't at the cave when we went to go bathe. But there was something stewing on the fire, so Daddy said he was probably out hunting or something."

You have to remember, Mara. Dragons, while not completely solitary, value the time they get to themselves. Em probably has been feeling a little pressured, and wants to be on his own for a bit. And while you were rude, I don't really deem it rude enough for a lecture. I'll ask you this: Have you learned your lesson from what happened earlier?
