Eventually, Raicho would return, with Sayoko not far behind. "Well, boys, I have good news and I have bad news. It's actually the same news, so it's more a matter of interpretation. Simply put, the next competition will be Feats of Strength." If any samurai were still sitting or lounging or even laying down while Raicho was beginning to explain, she would grab the closest one by the back of his hakama and lift him to his feet rather abruptly.
"The servants are already proceeding with the setup. We will have a series of large heavy stones to lift. 'Large' and 'heavy' are subjective, so we will see how each of you endure. Everyone will start with with the lightest, which they will hold over their head for five seconds without wavering or bending your knees. If you succeed, you move on to the next stone. You get three attempts at each stone; if you fail to lift it and hold it up by your third, you will be finished, and we will move on to the next competitor." Raicho would signal you forward, as she led the group of you elsewhere in the Daidoji Training Grounds.
Soon, you would be presented with a line of 10 large stones in the middle of a dry part of land, all increasing in size. Raicho would cross her arms and look at the lot of you, waiting patiently (you hope). Who would be the first to volunteer to show what he's made of?
Quote:
Feats of Strength. You have three attempts to pass an increasing TN. The TN for the first rock is 5, and increases by 5 for each succeeding rock (5, 10, 15, ..., 50). You will be rolling Raw Strength vs the TN, meaning dice explode, but you cannot declare raises. If you fail to meet a specific TN after the third try, you will be credited for completing the rock you last succeeded on. The samurai with the roll closest to succeeding will be credited with the win on a result of a tie.
