Nope. Haven't heard of it before. Besides the various D&D editions and Pathfinder the only other game system I have experience with is White Wolf. Unless I am forgetting something.

Came out in 3rd edition, and had a revised version for 3.5. Grimdark fantasy. Think Lord of the Rings, if Sauron conquered Middle Earth, and the setting takes place much later (years, decades, generations, whenever). There's a LOT of environmental and setting-based stuff against you, and very limited resources. BUT the PCs have blood of ancient and great warriors in their veins that give them cool stuff as they level (think like a free gestalt class) to make up for it. Would that be something you'd want to play in? Grimdark ain't for everyone.

Hmm. I'm sorry, I got to say I'm not a fan of those kind of settings. I like my games to be a little more cheerful. Depressing settings just sort of suck the fun out of it for me.

Okey dokey! It's not a guaranteed replacement (if it comes to it), but something that has garnered interest by others. Frankly, as far as DMing goes, the well's a bit dry for inspiration at the moment, so I'm still trying to figure out what to do.

And at this point, it'll have to be official. I'm letting you two go as players, in case either of you come back to read this at all. You simply aren't posting, and that's how games sink in this guild. I won't have it. While I'm sure there are reasons, perfectly justifiable reasons even, it doesn't change the fact that it might make you ill-suited for these kinds of games until you can resolve your timing issues. Sorry if that's a bitter pill to swallow, but it's a cold hard truth >_o That said, the reason this game was started was as an instructional quest for you two, to teach you a little about dungeons & dragons and how it works. Hopefully you've at least left here with the knowledge you were seeking! -Rain

I know there's no such rule for 'Critical Fumbles' in 4e, but I have my own little unspoken houserule for it. I now speak it, so you all know. If you... Roll a natural 1; AND Are untrained in that skill; AND Get a result of less than 5... You done goofed. Apparently, Plainsfox feels the need to bring this houserule to light mad

Skull Dres Would Tafiir hear the guards call out? Yes, it was intended that everyone in that scene heard the guards, Tafiir included. Also, I was hinting that 'egotii' translates as 'gaijin'. It's a real japanese word, with negative connotations. ^-^

You're going to find out the only proper 'house of worship' in the town is the temple to Avandra, actually. You don't start finding the "any temple" option until you get to the big cities. Also, for the sake of uniting the party so you can pool efforts/information. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "build" precisely, but I'm not exactly an expert on architecture by any stretch. How do you mean?
