Larkanna woke up the next morning feeling as if she'd been raised from death. Her muscles complained as she pulled off the covers and stood, but she simply ignored their protests and stretched. Looking down at her clothing, she sighed. She was still wearing the simple gown that she'd worn the evening before, but there were plenty of non-wrinkling spells enthreaded into the hems that she didn't have to worry about ruining it.
Walking to the library, she wondered where Elkand was and what he was up to this morning. Humming to herself a tune that she herself had composed, she happened to walk past a room that had a piano in it. Entering the room, she went to the piano and played a couple of notes, inwardly cringing at how out of tune it was. Chanting a very short spell, the harp strings within the instrument tuned themselves and so she sat down and played a tune that she'd found on her travels that was called, The Witch's Chant, and it sounded haunting and yet giddy at the same time. Without stopping, she moved onto a piece called Wizard of World's End.

Elkand was still reading of course but this time he was focusing more on curses and he was researching one of the rarest and most curse known to wizard or witches. He closed the book and stood up walking out of the library where his ear were immediately assaulted with a heavenly noise but it was familiar. He walked around holding a red and black book in his hand. He followed the sounds practically able to see the notes as he followed them to the room.
He found Larkanna playing the piano he had stashed away in the room. He leaned against the door and listened to her. When she finished he knocked on the wall and smiled " Well someone made a semi-quick recovery." he said " But even for someone who took the hit you did you you play like an angel." he walked over to her and stood next to her.

Larkanna jumped when she heard the knock on the wall. Turning, her cheeks turned a light pink before she shut the piano. Standing, she said, "Well, Your familiar's healing spells have helped more than I thought they would." She didn't make eye conatct with him. "Sorry about the piano... I just happened to come across it and couldn't help myself." The only mentor that had encouraged her to play instruments was the Witch Mother and even then she'd felt bad about her talent.

Elkand laughed and looked at her "She's pretty good at them though her brand of magic is unlike ours as they originate from a place of pure shadow." he said. He leaned on the piano " Its fine, I never use this piano so if you wanna play with it then feel free it makes no difference to me." he yawned " So are you hungry?" he asked her. He sat down on the seat and looked at her " You've been asleep for quite awhile so I imagine you are.' he said.

Larkanna sighed a little with relief when he said that he didn't mind her playing the piano. Looking back at him with her steady amber eyes, she nodded when he asked whether she was hungry. "Kinda." Her stomach felt like it was entirely devoid of any food. "Would you like me to cook again?" She asked.

Elkand shook his head " No this time I'll cook." he said " It'll be a while before I can step into yuor house again." he said and walked out of the room to the kitchen where he started to prepare breakfast. It was pretty standard eggs, bacon, pancakes, orange juice and toast. He wasn't exactly a good cook but he wasn't bad at all. He wasn't used to cooking since he didn't eat all to much in the morning just the afternoon.

Larkanna sat down at the table and rolled her stiff shoulders. Taking a bite from his cooking, she snapped her fingers, but nothing happened. Sighing a little, she sat back, "I guess I'm completely out for now." The last time she'd been completely drained of magic was when she was bonded to Elkand. "So what was that spell that you had in mind last night? Not to mention the one that you used against those frozen morons."

Elkand looked at her " I'm not surprised." he said and sighed closing his eyes as he leaned back. He looked at her " At least you can still move this time." he looked at her when she asked him about the spells he used. He looked down at the table and set his hands on it " Dark Magic.." he said " The spell I used against them was a small near death spell though some people can't take it." he said " The spell I was prepared to use was something called " Death's Essence" it would kill everyone in the magical community, its a massive spell that on one but death can resist." he said.

Larkanna gave him an icy glare, but it softened when she spoke, "You mustn't ever attempt a spell like either one of those ever again." She said, remembering witches that had dappled in the Dark Magic and were never the same again. More than half had been burned at stake after being knocked unconscious. "It's dangerous and I don't want anything bad happening to you." She didn't even want to begin thinking of what would happen if his magic was corrupted... her own would probably follow in swift pursuit. But that wasn't the reason why she didn't want him messing with risky spells. Reaching across the table, she put a hand on one of his.

Elkand looked at her and stared into her eyes listening to her words. He knew the consequences of his actions but he didn't have much of a choice. If she focused hard enough she could see the look in his eyes was a lot darker than it was. Normally his eyes had been bright but they dimmed. He looked at his mark and looked at her " I'll try and keep myself back but I can't make any guarantee's." he said " Buts its rather hard when you've been cursed." he said quietly and smiled at her " You have nothing to worry about...but promise me..if you use something like that herb again please tell me." he didn't even really notice her hand was on his.

"I don't think I'll ever use them again.... Not only is there a chance for the user to die, there are always after effects." Larkanna looked deeply into his eyes and noticed that there was something off about them, but couldn't put a name on it. At the moment, she knew that she should be the last person scolding someone else about doing something really risky, especially what happened that past evening. "Curse...?" She asked, wondering how in the world such a kind man could have made an enemy.

Elkand nodded " Thats good, I don't want you to die like that." he said. He looked up " Yes I'm cursed." he said " I've done good suppressing it so far but lately it seems like its becoming more active." he said. He thought back to what it was like being cursed at first and how he became cursed. The one who cursed him warned him one day his curse would become uncontrollable and what happened after that would be out of his hands...until then he could only learn to harness it for his own benefit.

Larkanna shook her head slightly, "Then I guess we'll have to find some way to prevent it, or at least make it weak enough for you to fend it off at times." Standing, she gave his hand a reassuring squeeze, "I'm going to search for the counter-curse... but I need to know the name of yours."
Wyrm appeared at the table and said, "Let me look deeply into your eyes, wizard." His sight was better than any human's, but his heart was more easily corrupted by power and greed. That was the way fate rolled when it came to personalities and abilities. He'd seen many curses, and he hoped that this would be one that he'd recognize.

Elkand looked at her " It has no name if it did the only person to ask would be Lujei and she took the curse with her when she died and I don't know if anyone else knows its." he said. His curse was an ancient one that only two people ever knew Death and Lujei and death was a force that would tell you nothing if it was for your benefit. He then looked at Wrym and let the creature and let it stare into his eyes. He doubted he knew it but he would let it try. If you looked deep enough you could see the cloud of pure darkness swirling and growing.
