^^ oh tree lights, I've seen people do funny things with those, like a giant blue peace sign.
Hope everyone has been having an enjoyable holiday!

so if christmas is over, does that mean all the decorations have to disappear? I'm seeing christmas trees on the tree belt to be picked up and it's kind of sad..

Actually according to the Christian tradition the magi come bearing gifts to baby Jesus 12 days after Christmas and some people don't get gifts till then or gifts on each of the 12 days, like this. So decorations are fair game till at least the 6th of January, some people do throw out their trees the day after though and that is sad.

Tree lights...after the holidays? Sounds like my neighbors who keep them up year round!

I personally try to leave the tree up 'til just after New Years'. I don't put mine up 'til mid-December, so I think that's fair... biggrin

Our tree gets taken down when somebody gets sick of it and has the time... Usually I'm the first to meet both criteria.

Kals is questing again! The Ukrainian Church and many other Eastern churches don't celebrate Christmas until the Feast of the Epiphany, which is January 6th. The holidays are not over until then. They're certainly not over before December 31st!
Besides, it's dangerous to go up a ladder in the winter; lights have to go up instantly after Halloween (even if you don't turn them on until Dec 1) and come down after the snow melts in late April. Indoor decorations go away whenever it's convenient after December 31st, but new year celebrations would not be the same without them. Check sig for details!

Mum and I took down our tree just this evening. Usually it stays up until the end of the month but Christmas was so hectic and tiring this year we were ready for it to be over and done with.

Screw putting them up AND taking them down! If I can I leave them up all year long. So do my parents and that's where I got that from. As for the tree, if I could I would leave it up all year long too. I so LOVE Christmas trees they're very pretty and make a room feel very comfortable. However they also take up room that was usually being used before it was up, so taking it down needs to happen. I can see ours coming down after February. Only because I don't want to and everyone else is lazy.

Wow, spending a week up in the frigid north with family makes one miss quite a bit, huh?
