Tam sighs and going over to Bez, urges him to lie down and rest. Bez's shield had been three fold. A shield against penetration, a shield against vibration, and a shield against sound. He truly doubts that Kerobian realizes how hard it had been for Bez to shelter the young serpentine with his family. Bez's fear of snakes bordered a phobia and although he had spoken with him many times about it, his mate had yet to conquer his fear.

"To be offended when no offense is intended does not become you, Taro." teases Tam quietly. Then he sighs. "Kero, he knows not how to speak to people... to show them how he feels. He can twist words with the best of them, but to speak that which is in his heart..." Tam sighs and shakes his head. "Forgive me... you are a child no more... I should not scold you as though you are... but I beg of you... do not judge him though a child's eyes. He is afraid... and yet, he fought through his fear to shelter the lad from your racket. Surely that must account for something."

He was just finishing putting the final touches on thr earthen home when he hears a startled cry. He turns to look in the boy's room to find the lad sitting up in the bed staring about him in fear, unsure as to how he got there.

The boy looks at him, studies his face for a solemn moment then crumbles against him hugging him close. His tiny shoulder shaking with the force of his silent sobs.

As the rhythmic movement soothes away Passssura's tension, Kerobian is reminded of the fact that 10 is such an awkward age... not quite a child, not yet an adolescent, full of bravado, exuding curiosity, so self assured and yet so terribly afraid. It is the age of dependent independence. And he quickly finds the boy sheepishly pulling away. He is shivering and his skin feels cool to the touch. Belatedly Kerobian remembers the humidity and heat of the lad's home world, how the vegetation had already started to reclaim that which had once been it's own. A world far warmer than the one they were on.

With a sigh, the child leans against him, but soon a soft rumbling sound interrupts the quiet. Looking around Kero cannot figure out what he sound is, until he looks down at the boy, who is hanging his head sheepishly. He gets a sensation of hunger, so great it wants to wrap itself about his back bone and remembers another thing about boys that age. They'll eat you out of house and home if your not careful.

How those wide blue eyes get any wider Kero cannot say but they do and a thoughtful look comes across the boys' face. Suddenly you get s sense of hopefulness and a vision of a plate of small silvery fish, unlike any you have ever seen before, they don't even looked cooked.

The boys' face falls, obviously, if Kero didn't know them by sight, he wouldn't have them available. "shiners..." he sends hopefully. And then he shows Kero a scene of his people all lined up across a river waiting, each with a basket for a silvery flood, thousands of the tiny fish all swimming upstream to spawn. It is then that Kero sees that the serpentines are a colorful race and that the boy is an oddity. Most hae multi colored patterned skins.
