i'm sorry to hear about your kitty, kay ;_;.
as for hunting... i don't think it's ethically inhumane as long as you are in a place where hunting particular animals is allowed, the target animal populations are not endangered, and you consume the animal. where i live people can get licenses to hunt deer, elk, and bear, but that's because their populations are healthy here and people are expected to eat the meat of the animals that they hunt.
that said, i can't hunt. i can't even fish. it's just me. i get queasy and sad ;_;.
but i am a meat lover, though.

oh i'm sorry that your cat died I know how it feels to lose a cat. We had to put our cat Midnight down I still miss him and my parents arent ready for another cat yet. emo Anyway my cat would drink out of the toilet bowl. I also remember one time he got out of the house and was gone for 2 hours my mom was so worried. He turned up walking around the corner, he was hanging with the neighbors cat Socks. My mom yelled at him and he ran so fast and straight into the screen door. rofl

Kay-VW One of my cats died... crying I get so sad every time one dies. And she was still a kitten too. We'll in other news, three of my cats are going to have kittens, smile , but kittens right now remind me of Tina, which makes me sad, but getting more kittens makes me happy, o.O, okay, I'm confusing myself now. In speaking of more kittens; I'm a bit worried that one of our mama cats wont feed her kittens again. The last litter of kittens she had, she decided not to feed for some reason. The last time I fed them warm milk mixed with eggs and poured over bread, they seemed to like that, but unfortunately, only one survived, my cat Black Jack. Is there anything I should do in case she decides not to feed her kittens again?

Caring for kittens that the mother has rejected is a huge amount of work. sad
You'll need to invest in some kitten formula and a bottle to make sure they're getting the appropriate nutrition, and they'll need to be fed every few hours.
You'll also have to stimulate them to go to the bathroom with a warm, moist cotton ball, since new born kittens can't do this on their own.
There's a lot of info out there on caring for new born kittens - you can check google or I can see if I can dig up some details for you.

why would some mama cats reject their own kittens? gonk that is so sad.
well, some human mothers reject their own babies... so i guess it's not really surprising it happens to other species as well.
mitts would drink out of the toilet bowl as well @_@. he knows he's not supposed to, because when i see him perched over the bowl, he immediately climbs down. i guess it's just a more interesting way for him to drink? i have to start closing the toilet lid.

::sighs:: Police and SPCA officers just rescued 37 cats from a house in town. I hope the cats are all okay and haven't been too badly neglected... I don't know where we're going to put them all though.

Bleh, I heard on the news this morning that the woman might be getting the cats back, as long as she cleans up her place and makes living conditions suitable for the animals. I don't know how I feel about that, because on one hand, that would be 37 more cats in a home instead of in a cage, but if she was already neglecting them, what's to stop her from back sliding and doing it again. confused

Despoena gonk 37?! I always get so sad hearing stories like that. I can never watch Animal planet stuff, like the animal cop shows and whatnot - I start crying D: I am very much the same, I saw terrible things done to animals working as a Vet tech, it sickened me, I came home from work in tears so often My Husband says I have too big a heart to carry that kind of burden. I did leave the field per say, I no longer work in an office for a Veterinarian, but I still do plenty of vet tech work with my own animals. On a positive note, My broken Kitty is now strong enough to pull himself around so we are going to make him a rear end wheeler. He may never regain the use of his hind legs but his strength grows and he is gaining weight. He is also talking again, no more seizures, and is eating on his own, he flat refused the feeder syringe offered him & hid his head. Ive had him isolated since his accident and he is jabbering at his sister under the door she has managed to get a ball under it for him and he even batted it about a bit.

YAY!!! KITTENS!! My family of cats is now larger. I don't know how many kittens there are at the moment though, the momma cats seem to have decided to hide them from us, -_-.
Now, I just need to start coming up with names. I already have one name figured out for if we get another calico cat. Its name shall be Patches the Second; named after my last calico kitty who disappeared one day and never came back.

Congrats on the new kitty family Kay. Are you going to keep them all yourself?
Rustinnah: Oh my goodness - what happened to your broken kitty? If you posted about it I must have missed it or forgotten. I'm glad to hear he is getting better. It's just amazing how strong willed cats are - I don't think I've ever seen such a powerful determination to live and heal in any other animals.
I think this guild may soon be getting much busier - I accepted about a hundred join requests already today, and there's probably another hundred in the queue that I haven't got to yet. I guess that's what happens when you have the first post in a Lanzer thread. mrgreen

I guess that's what happens when you have the first post in a Lanzer thread. mrgreen Hes never been a very bright cat, and was playing in the bathroom somehow he pulled a set of wire baskets out of the molly bolts onto him, and broke himself. They contained assorted soaps & shampoos, one never thinks a set of shelving or bathroom fixture is just going to give way, but it did & Frey was hurt. He can stand but cannot bear weight on his back legs, Yet, it may be he is still too injured for that but seeing him pull himself about with front legs is a good sign. Casting him would not yield any good since No clear break was evident. I am doing all I can to see to it he is stimulated with massage and making sure he has some circulation, I turn him ever few hours. Time will tell. poor fella has a huge heart, Id hate to see him give up.
