I don't think it was actually a canopic jar. More like a reliquary-little jars or boxes that people use to hold remains of saints, royalty, loved ones, etc. I'm guessing that that tooth broke and fell out for some reason, and some person grabbed it and (since restorative dental surgery was kinda beyond the Egyptian doctors' capabilities then) stuck it in a reliquary, so it was like Hatshepsut would be with him/her. And when Hatshepsut was the current god incarnate on the throne, why not have a piece of the god with you?

I don't think common people(ESPECIALLY) or any priest or others took over the royal teeth as sacred symbol, she was destinated to oblivion by the new pharaon,Thutmosi III.Then it would be "not-egyptian".The pot is a canopic war because it contained the liver.
Maybe I'm like Saint Thomas:if I don't touch with my hand I can't believe! wink

yes, i saw that tv show thing too. hard to believe that they found her with her molar. quite simple if you think about all the things they went through.

but then again, who doesn't love to find a new queen xD
