Hiya
Just a little background information before I get started. Cleopatra VII was the last ruler of Egypt. She was meant to have married her brother Ptolomny (damn Greeks, sorry I can't spell his name) but because of siblin rivalry Caeser executed him so Cleopatra was then made ruler. She had love affairs with Julias Caeser and Mark Antony (I'll have a go with his real name - Markous Antonious).
I was just thinking, if Cleopatra had got along with her brother and became Queen of Egypt instead of ruler would you think the Egyptian empire would still exist? That would mean that there would be no love affairs between two Romans and still making the Roman empire allies with Egypt. Then there would not be a reason for Octavian to invade Egypt, right? Because Mark Antony would not go against the empire .... ?
What do you guys think?

It's spelled Ptolemy smile
I think that Rome would have invaded Egypt or vice versa anyway. Both of them were major powers in the Mediterranean region. One could see the other as a threat to their continued sovereignty. It was only a matter of time. Cleopatra just sped things up a bit.
And, if by some miraculous act Egypt did survive the Romans, they'd be invaded by the Caliphate (I think) and the Ottoman Turks to be incorporated into the Ottoman Empire later on. (I think that's right...my medieval Middle Eastern history is kinda rusty.)

Octavian used Cleopatra as"casus belli" so he put Mark Antony in a bad light in Rome and become the only ruler.I t just a politic matter. He said that Mark Antony didn t respect the mos maiorum(ancient traditons,gods,etc..)and accuse him to want to become an oriental tyrant...Rome rise up against Mark Antony.Cleopatra couldn t nothing....I think Egypt was condemned,it doesn t matter who rules in that moment...Roman Empire was the biggest power in Mediterranean..and I hate said that. But I think that the library of Alexandria under Pt.I Soter is the last wonder of Egyptian Empire...under Cleopatra Ancient Egypt was just only a memory...unfortunately.
