You're walking along the street oneday and you find a silver case, inside is $1,000,000 USD (£500,000) and it doesn't seem to belong to anyone around you.
Would you keep the case, or try to find who it belonged to? If you kept it, what would you do with all that money? If you tried to return it, what were your reasons for doing so? *Keep in mind the money could belong to the Mafia, so choose your answer wisely*

I'd hand it into the police; (and if I'm not mistaken, if no one claims it after a set time, they usually give it to whoever handed it in - of course, I could be talking complete BS - I was very young when I heard that) on the grounds that is what I would wish people to do with my own property, had I lost it.

I would take the money and get out of the country stat, then put it all in a Swiss bank account except what I needed to set up my new life in ~wherever~, then keep all the money til i retire ^_^

Slayer Igraine I'd hand it into the police; (and if I'm not mistaken, if no one claims it after a set time, they usually give it to whoever handed it in - of course, I could be talking complete BS - I was very young when I heard that) on the grounds that is what I would wish people to do with my own property, had I lost it. I'm pretty sure I'd do the same, as my overactive conscience and guilt complex couldn't handle it if I just walked off with a million bucks that could belong to anyone. If, in the case that they return the money to me after no one claims it, I would split it in quarters as follows: $250,000 for my savings account $250,000 for Angie's college tuition, and whatever she doesn't need would be left to her parents (I'd force her to take it somehow... ninja ) $250,000 for Bryce and his family (Again, I'd force it on them somehow) $250,000 to be divided among a few charities.

I'd take some, a few thousand, and hand it in to the police.

I would turn it in to the police, and if no one claimed it, I would save the money until I graduated then I would use some to pay for college, buy an old victorian house, travel a bit, buy a new wardrobe, and then donate some to charities. heart

Open a new bank account, get a debit card that goes with it, and if the mob comes after me, I am dead and I guess you'll find my corpse under a frozen lake.

Take some, if not all. If I only took some of it, I would hand the rest into the police.

Turn it into the police - both because I'd feel better afterwards, and because I wouldn't want the IRS on my a**.

It's really hard for me to say right now (I'm really pressed for cash at present, but then again I always am. sweatdrop ). I guess it depends on whether there's anything at all or not to identify whose it was. If not it'd probably be a waste of police time to turn it in, plus the only people who'd have that much cash in a briefcase with no identification are almost certainly participating in shady dealings anyway. In that case I'd launder the money as best I could, and vanish. If it had an ID, I'd either turn it in to the police or directly to the owner.
