Hi there everyone!
For any of you who don't already know, I'm the offical guild mule! (If you're not on my friends list yet, add me!)
In my role as mule, I have been given some very generous donations to use as the mods see fit to benefit the guild!
I felt that it was time we had a big important contest to try to bring the guild together and get us all being a little more active, and I have some brilliant prizes to be able to give out to the winner/winners!!
What I'm not sure about, is what kind of contest you guys would like the best! I have put a few suggestions in the poll, but we are DEFINITELY open to more of them, just post your ideas here and we'll see what is the most popular!

So far the avatar contest is winning, but don't forget to tell us exactly what you think would work best! With the avi contest, should it have a theme? And if so what? Should people have to use items that they actually own? Or can they submit an avi made with tektek?
And don't forget other ideas....I know you're a bright bunch, there must be things that we haven't thought of!!

To be honest I have mixed feelings. Avi contests are fun, but done quite often.
Being the 21+ guild we do bring in a different caliber of members here. Perhaps we need a contest that reflects the strengths and originality of our members.
What about some sort of trivia contest? It could either reflect knowledge we older Gaians would have the youngins wouldn't (i.e. Bands from back in the day, classic movies, styles like bell bottoms, etc). Or, it could be more of an academic sort of trivia, like Jeopardy. Could our main man go--- Trebek on us? surprised
Let's see... or we could have a photo contest. A lot of members here have some friggin' adorable pets and kids, nothing like pictures of cute kids with birthday cake shoved up their nostrils to add a few smiles. That kind of contest you could have different genres too: nature, humor, pets, kids, etc
Or we could have "Name that Guildy": members could submit fun and unusual facts about them (nothing personal or obscene) and have people try to guess who it was. Say "This guild member has had cravings for bananas and green olives" or "This guild member built a replica of the Tokyo Tower included miniature Sailor Moon chars out of paper clips"
Those are the best ideas I can imagine for the time being.

Oh, and we have enough exciting prizes to be able to hold more than one competition, so keep the ideas coming. If we don't use them now, we're sure to in the future!

I really like the name that guildy idea.
We already have a dice game and a random number game. Someone already started a tektek avatar contest, but not many people have entered.

I like the idea of a photo contest, but maybe make it more of a themed contest? Because someone might get upset if they think they have the cutest pet/baby/etc and they're not winning. Maybe funny pictures or something with an artistic theme? Or maybe we'd be given a caption and then would have to take a photo (or draw a picture or write a story, maybe, if you don't have a camera) that fits the caption.

We wouldn't want anyone getting upset or offended.... We could even do it the other way around, and perhaps provide a photo and people have to think of a caption! Maybe make it a monthly thing? Or it could just be that we have a monthly contest, and the contest will change from month to month? By the way, it's good to see you Seeress -it feels like it has been a while!
