All right. We know we've got some fighters around here. Sooo... tell us about it! What's your preference: heavy weapons, light weapons, thrown weapons, archery...? What's your weapon/style of choice? Talk about your badass armor, your war hammer named Thumper (I have a friend who has one of these...*lol*), how much you adore the waterbearers and their big jugs.....*cough* of WATER! Whatever. smile

I'm going to try out two mace at practice next week and start working on that, the local marshall thinks with my overly agressive fighting style I could do good that way.

I've been playing with rapier for a good long time, and I love me some thrown weapons and archery. I haven't actually fought at an event yet (besides this one time when a friend and I had an in with the autocrat and so got to defend the castle walls by dropping "stones" down on the heads of the invaders) because it was only fairly recently that I was old enough to not have to bring my parents to an event so I could get authorized, and I just haven't had the time or the practice under my belt as of late.
I tend to be a waterbearer, and I've been known to badger a fighter who is turning bright red and sweating heavily but refusing water until he finally agrees to drink. I can be a bit shrewish and demanding, but only when the situation truly merits it. Or I feel like it. wink

I'm a rapier fighter. smile A horribly horribly out of practice one since I've not fought in a year due to being out of Kingdom, but a rapier fighter all the same. In An Tir the rapier authorization encompasses all combinations except for case, but I have my case of rapiers authorization as well. I'm absolutely rotten with my buckler (can't use that thing to save myself...literally..) but I love fighting rapier and dagger. My don's trying to get me to stop so that I will practice with other stuff too...lol.

Well, I haven't actually fought at an event yet, but I think I'd go for either a two-handed sword, or a sword-and-shield combo. Although I've seen one guy in AmtGard that made axe and mace work really well. Hook a shield and pull it aside with the axe, then smack the guy with the mace. Hehe. I'm too rusty with a bow, I wouldn't be much good without practice.

Oh, and last night I also found a great place for those with no weapon-making skills. www.larpmonkey.com has some links to various boffer weapon sites. I've seen some really nice stuff! Now, if only I had some of that green, papery Mundane money stuff.....

I currently don't fight (atleast not yet) but I do want to start boffering or fencing. I can boffer pretty well for a begginner and I was told I back peddle really quickly which would be good for err.... I forget the name! I'm also a very good archer.

I just completed a suit of full plate armor mrgreen It's all aluminum but otherwise historically accurate.
I fight hard suit and I'm pretty good with a Greatsword, but I also fight with a halberd, or Axe and shield sometimes.

I've done some fencing, and apparently I have good energy but horrible footwork. Oh well... at least I have something.
At the moment I'm building my badass black-and-red armor, which I'm thinking might not be so good in the heat of the day. However, it's House colors. I haven't fought heavy yet, but I will, damn it.

Well right now I'm only allowed to use boffers. not 18 yet dammit. But i'm going to start going to Fighting practice in my household. I don't know what weapons I'll use. Right now I Have a falchion and scimitar I made and enjoy using. But I wouldn't count out spears and pole axes.

I'm a Heavy Fighter, first and foremost. I wear alot of plate, or as some call it, Knight bait. I wear a minimal gutbelt ( lovingly known as the Girdle), a Corinthian style T-face helm, a pair of articulated steel vambraces, articulated steel legs, and a leather gorget of my own making (hence shoddy). Oh! I forgot my demi gauntlets. Simple steel demis. You guys ( and girls) remember the old hockey glove gauntlets? I'm in the process of making a pair.
I'm a polearm killer, first and foremost. A scottish targe-sized roundshield dictates that you be aggressive and away from a shieldwall, so... And after that, I prefer to fight with a katana or a very, very short glaive (barely more than six feet).

Well, looks like I'll now be trying fencing. Thanks to a bad case of tendonitis I can't use my shield hand for at least a couple months, I have to do something, so until I can get back to heavy I'll fence. People have been telling me that fencing could improve my heavy skills for quite a while but I've been reluctant to try it, now I'll have to (ok, not have to but it's better then no fighting at all).
