i am planning on expanding this with your comments... *note these have all happened... not to me... but i hear stories*
1. Leave a drumstick on a stage light for so long it combusts.
2. Get you crash cymbals suctioned together during a crash.
3. Knock off more that one chime on a set of wind chimes.
4. Dent the gong
5. Snap a marimba bar.
6. Hit a phenolic bell mallet so hard it shatters into five or more pieces.
7. Crack the head of a timpani during a drumroll.
8. Break the triangle.
9. Crash a pair of cymbals and have one of the cymbals fall off of the handle during the crash.
10. Lock the drum key in the drum while you are replacing the head.
11. Drop your marching bass drum and have it roll down a hill.
12. Spell "roll" wrong while editing your music.
13. Trip over your own snare drum/bell straps
14. Drop food down a the resonator bar of a mallet instrument
15. Actually KEEP your music an entire season!

Try this one: Leaning back in your chair until you fall, the chair tips the snare drum into the trombones, you smack your head against the wall, and start flailing until you hit the windchimes. This all happened to a kid I know, and our director didn't even notice the trombones yelling at Nico!
Or, try kicking a mallet out of a xylophone and have it land on the suspended cymbal--IN THE MIDDLE OF A CONCERT!
We've dented the gong, decapitated mallets, the timpani has a hole, we always lose everything because nobody puts it in the right place, we've...what do we have? Oh! We have one rusty bar on the bells, and nobody knows why, the xylo. keeps losing a wheel, the bass drum has a loose screw(as do many of our members in our band) Half the snare drums are busted, we've got a splintered mallet that we can't find the other one of, music from years past in the drawers, our slapsticks are broken, half the stands fall when you put sticks on them, and the only thing that's remotely new is the vibraphone.
How's that work for ya?

wolf_spirit16 how about hitting the chime in the middle of a concet and the chime car falling, crashing to the ground in the song? I've not quite had that happen, but we were in practice once and I was on chimes, my part comes up, I hit one note, step on the little pedal to mute it.....and my foot goes to the floor. The metal rod that went from the pedal snapped clear in two. I just stood there and looked at the chimes until the director stopped, and was like "Uh...Brad.... (the director)...I have a problem." The kids at the highschool I graduated from actually managed to nearly DESTROY the xylophone though. Me and my friend came back to help at bandcamp a couple years ago, and we'd just got done telling them that they need to check all the nuts and bolts and screws and everything on all the instruments before they wheeled them out to the field. They didn't listen, and a few minutes later, the xylophone was simply in a cluttered heap outside the school doors. A loose bolt came out while it was being pushed, and the whole thing just collapsed. Luckily, nothing was seriously damaged and me and my friend were able to put it back together. And I'll be danged, if that bolt that came loose ever comes out again, I'll hurt someone. We put it in there so tight I doubt it'll ever come out again even if some wants it to. >.>

This happened today. Our vibes pedal fell off! We replaced it, and it fell again! Oddly, it only started this year, not last year, not 6th grade, not ever! Naumann had to come up and fix it at the end of class, but it still fell off in the middle of jazzband. (@ sykopath: yes, we are insane. If you met us in person, you'd be guarenteed some insane people on your hands. We also can't find the heads to the mallets...)

These are all awesome.
I remember once in Jr. High, I was pushing the xylo. back. I was pushing it in a bad way for that thing, because it's wheels and all were horrible. But so it hit a part in the floor that a tile was missing.
It flipped at least 2 or 4 times. hahaha
then later that year i pushed over the smallest timpini...but it wasn't hurt.
and people keep taking our instruments hahaha

The first one has already happened to our band. Hehe, nothing bad has happened with any other instruments but one of the percussionist took a marimba mallet and started beat on a drum with it and the mallet snapped in half.

(the twin plays clarinet)
