Hiya I have quite a big bedroom but now that I'm 17 and I have alot less stuff then my 10 year old brother (who has a small bedroom) we are swapping rooms. I want an Egyptian themed room, but I need some tips. I want hieroglyphics going around my wall. Can people give me some tips on what it could look like and the text that that the hieroglyphics should say. I know this isn't on Egyptology and I am sorry, lol. ---------------------- Hiya all again! If you saw my announcement last April you would know what an earthquake hit my town. My bedroom needed redecorating sweatdrop thought that was a good thing. Above the picture rail my Dad put this horrible wall paper on it with chips of wood in it but because the plaster behind it cracked it split the paper. So my Dad put a new wallpaper down, and it's not normal white paper. I FINALLY found some brown tester paint (you wouldn't believe how difficult it was to find some) so I will paint my wall when I get the time (working so much overtime at the moment). I have a general idea what to write which is great! I bought a rug from my work place which is brown with swirls on it, goes with my room well. Now, what else do you guys suggest I could do?

You could have shelves that have any Egyptian stuff that you have. You could also have Egyptian pictures that look like ancient Egyptian weavings or writings on your walls. (All things that I have) biggrin biggrin biggrin

Oh and the hieroglyphics could be like a "curse of the tomb" thing. such as "They who disturbs this dwelling shall meet their end in pain" or something like that. smile

I also have Lotus essence and two small figurines and a 6" Ankh. Lol that is a great idea!! I only know the phonetic spelling (and a few words and determinatives) so I'll try my best! Thanks again.

Now I know what I want to do with my bedroom. I keep getting nagged about remodeling it with some new theme rather than the bland jumble of everything that I have going on at the moment.

I've always wanted an Egyptian-themed bedroom! But I live with my boyfriend and he doesn't want our bedroom all "dorky" as he puts it. xd
I'm still gonna do it, though...
His parents used to have a business at the house and there's a whole building on the property that they built as an office and shop. But since they moved out, there's TONS of space. There are so many rooms just waiting to be used. And so at least if I don't get an Ehyptian-themed bedroom, I will be converting a whole room into my own personal temple. smile

The neat star pattern they used to use for temples and tombs. I'm also going to try making/getting some pillar-type things. I can't wait to get started!

El Moo...
you should have a sort of sandy colour for the walls, but not too dark as dark walls make the room smaller. also put a border for the hieroglyphics.. like darkbrown lines then inside light brown and the heiroglyphics in the space of light brown. 8D also instead of a dream catcher, you could have some kind of bird or an ankh hanging above your bed. o: lawls. are you going to stay at home once you head of for college? cause if you leave, its going to be kind of a waste.. ]: cause that would be an awdsome room.

... Lol I've wrote down the colours I want .... somewhere, lol. I remember the brown I wanted, Chocolate Brown ^_^ A light brown around the hieroglyphs? Sounds like a good idea! That'll give it some dimension. Yeah I can do the ankh and/or Eye of Horus above my bed and maybe a few signs here and there. I live in England so I travel to college, we don't have dorms at our colleges, only in our Univsersities. I won't be going to Uni until September 2008 ... or maybe 2009. Even then I won't be in a dorm becauase I'll have a lovely Egyptian room back home xd

Hey, I just thought of a cool thing to do for an Egyptian-themed room... Pillows and bed frames in ancient Egypt would commonly have a picture of Nit on it to keep malevolant spirits and bad dreams away. Maybe you could use paint markers or even sew the image of Nit on a pillow, or draw Her on the headboard with Her arrows in hand to protect you. I've been thinking about doing this myself, actually. I thought it was a neat idea... sweatdrop
