I want some details. People involved, moves, songs... everything!

I'm only a poor little frosh, so I've only done one show. It was our whole band (About sixty people) we did Pirates of the Caribbean. The hardest move for me (And I moved a lot for a bari sax) was I had to go backwards into a revolving ball of flutes. Almost turned out bad for us a few times. 3nodding

The best show... a pirate show, just like you, except that the music was written by our band director himself. I don't have a hardest move, but there was a really cool move where 9 of us (6 flutes and 3 clarinets) were marching in a circle, and the drill writer thought it was boring so he made us dance to our parts since we weren't playing. razz Crazy, but fun.

Oh, and the clarinets got to turn our hats sideways so that it looked like a pirate hat (our hats look a bit different from the typical round hat). It didn't really look right during the actual show though because of our plumes, but oh well.

Hardest show:
my freshman year's GHOST TRAIN...the drill writer was a little rushed during our band camp and didn't really go over the drill to make sure it was humanly possible. He had the flutes going from 4 steps in front of the front hash to 4 steps behind the backhash in 16 counts accelerating backwards starting at tempo 160 going up to 180. The show was just a mess all season and by the end of the season we had a broken foot from mud and a gashed open hand...it got too dark to see and he fell on his sax.

Coolest show:
my sophomore year's OUR TRAGIC HEARTS (Carmen)...we had flutes and clarinets drop their instruments on the sidelines and we got to do flagwork! yay! And my BFF got to tango in the closer 'cus he's the only male flute player....and our guard is girls only. Awesome visuals, great music, wonderful time.

ouch. 176 is our opening, and 90 doubletime aka 180 for the second movement.. which is impossible because it's a slow melody + big steps= horrifying tone and every time we tell the BD to change it to 80, he does for a day and then forgets again -_-
The closer's at some tempo close to the opener.

This year's show was very hard. It was called Sound Prisms.

Opener - 145 (Summer Dances)
Ballad - 76 (The Darkness is Always Soft)
Closer - 175 -> 192 (Sound Prisms)

Slow tempo is harder than fast, musically. We were all dead by the end of the show. It was so hard, musically and visually. sweatdrop

The one we did this year was deffinately the hardest.
It's called "X!" and was actually performed by a DCI band once and I heard it will be performed by another DCI band next year. It's a Key Poulan show.
It kicks a**. I had fun doing it.

Its just my first year too.
We were doing a Western saga and there's this one part,
Where go back 16 counts
but its when the tempo changes and its all fast and whoosh like. xD

. . Ours get harder every year. Dx But they're fun. Multiple arc pass thrus for us clarinetists (we have 52, so it's not too easy. Three arcs of almost twenty people in them, all passing thru each other?), scatter drill, and the brass had so many block rotations it was crazy. xP

Last year, our opening tempo was 180 or 190, and we had a part in the drum break that went 220. Dx It wasn't just marching, neither. It was side-back-side-front. You know that karaoke thing in track? Yeah, like that. But at 220.

But if it wasn't hard, we wouldn't earn our PE credits for the year. xD

Hardest year thus far = this year.

G3. It had a horrible title, but it was really cool.

In our opening we had to do these strange machine-like movements around boxes and other members. Two jazz run sections, weird Ikea boxes that kept breaking, and drumming on boxes later we ended at 172, jazz ran half the field, and then had to go back and carry the stage off the field. But the music was awesome, so it was worth it.

This year. Crazy preshow, opener (Liberi Fatali) at 174, interlude (Hymn of the Fayth) at 84 but double time mostly, movement 2 (The Man with the Machine Gun + drum break and fight club) at 144, ballad (don't know, so don't ask) at 72 double time, and the closer (don't know, so don't ask) at 174. In all of this, there's also dancing and...SPINROOSKIES! That's four 4-5 steps, then do a 360 going out 2 steps, then repeat. the dancing is hot also... biggrin

By far the hardest, largest, and best field show has to be tis years field show la nouba...1st we steped up to the plte and beat almost everyone music wise...we were onlydefeated by a couple of bands in the entire comp (about 3 out of 17). I tool one of the 4 songs ending at 166...it speeds up from the middle to the end. and they marched it in as much in step as they could. we had enthusiasm when we played....madde it "come alive" as a judge said..i think ^^; (or something along those lines). I was hurting everytime i conducted a run through...which brings me to another ^^...we had way better practices than before...so we had a successful season and i think we shock a couple of school ...we sattered the steryotype i think for our band (we had a steryotype that we sucke immensly(which we did till dembosky(our bd) came along and raised our playing ability ^^))...so yeah..i think i typed enough. mrgreen
