The Met has a selection of ancient Egyptian artifacts displayed online, which I highly recommend:
http://www.metmuseum.org/Works_Of_Art/viewHigh.asp?dep=10&viewMode=0&set=1The exhibit features some really wonderful quality photographs- details so fine that they can be magnified several times without losing their definition- with the option of viewing alternate positions, and the ability to zoom in on each photograph to explore specific aspects of each artifact in minute detail. The artifacts are arranged roughly in chronological order, starting in the Pre-dynastic era and flowing through to the Greek occupation. Notes give a bit of background information for each piece- including date, provenance, and a few of the museum's thoughts on the purpose or significance of the item and how it may have been used.
Go check it out, and then come back and let us know which piece is your favorite.
