The Met has a hallway lined with statues of a certain Egyptian goddess, associated with both plagues and healing. Which one is it?

The Met has a selection of ancient Egyptian artifacts displayed online, which I highly recommend:

http://www.metmuseum.org/Works_Of_Art/viewHigh.asp?dep=10&viewMode=0&set=1

The exhibit features some really wonderful quality photographs- details so fine that they can be magnified several times without losing their definition- with the option of viewing alternate positions, and the ability to zoom in on each photograph to explore specific aspects of each artifact in minute detail. The artifacts are arranged roughly in chronological order, starting in the Pre-dynastic era and flowing through to the Greek occupation. Notes give a bit of background information for each piece- including date, provenance, and a few of the museum's thoughts on the purpose or significance of the item and how it may have been used.

Go check it out, and then come back and let us know which piece is your favorite. cool

The temple of Dendur by far, to be able to see one of the temple on our continent is awesome even though it is the roman period(still Egyptian but influenced by the Romans) . it shows both the art and the architectural of ancient Egypt it is absolutely gorgeous. it was given to the use in 1967 and installed in 1978. just love it. Im going to New York for the first time this spring and it is on the top of my list to see cant wait.

The answer to the poll is obvious: Sekhmet. She was known for healing and most of her clergy were doctors and surgeons of the highest calibur at the time. She was also known as the 'Lady of Plague', capable of both causing and turning away plagues. In many temples, her statues were found as wards to protect agianst evil.

Just had to throw that in ^.^ Sekhmet is my most beloved Goddess, so my knowledge n Her is rather great, moreso than any other God or Goddess, save for Asar, my Lord.

Any question becomes obvious when you know the answer. wink I hope that everyone who already knew could feel good about that knowledge and add a little gold to their stash, and that everyone who hadn't already encountered that information somewhere might feel inspired to go hunting for the answer- and get some gold while they were at it. 3nodding

Have you visited the exhibit before (online, or in person)? What do you think of it?

The Met is indeed a really fun place to go to in New York when youre in its area! I have been into the temple of Dendur in the Met. The exibhit is amazing! Even though I have been there tons of times, I still cannot help but to feel amazed everytime I see it. I get an eerie feeling when looking at the coffins but beautiful artwork though.

I always tell my friend when we go to the Egyptian section "Yeah all this...just pretend youre in my room"

I love to go into that section whenever I'm there! It's basically the only place where I want to spend the day. To have an authentic piece of ancient Egypt in my own backyard just fills me with joy!
