make a fabric cover rahther than a paper one, or use a cute printed paper, lace and ribbons would also be nice but might get snagged on things so be careful ^^

If you have to do paper book-covers, maybe paste pictures of your favorite lolita outfits onto it?

Me and my friends are awesome at making everyday things oh so loli.
For Sweet Lolita: Take a pink or blue gingham fabric and white ladder lace with pink/blue ribbon laced through it and some white trim lace. Cover it with the pink/blue gingham and tape the ends inside the cover of the book. (tape it so it is easily removable at the end of the class) carefully hand sew (or fabric glue) the ladder lace in two rows parallel to each other going down the cover. Then carefully hand sew the lace trim around the edges of the cover. <3 You could also add pink/blue ribbon roses on the corners. Of course you would have to be careful with this, but a lolita is always so graceful they shouldn't have a problem.
For Gothic Lolita: Do this the same but with black matte fabric and white ladder lace/trim with black ribbon.
For Country Lolita: Find some off white with a light floral print fabric, and antiqued lace trim.
Those are my ideas. ^__^

These are all great ideas.
If you can find an appropriate stretchy fabric, you can make covers from that, too, and they'll fit a wider size of books, so you can reuse them the next year/semestre.

♥forever______xxxxxxxxx I've actually tried this once. O.O Wowie. I went on Photoshop and made a specially custom design that had Lolita symbols and pics, such as roses/crowns/lace, all around a pic of the "Tea Party" from Alice in Wonderland. Then I bought this special printing paper that I printed it out on, then ironed it on to my book cover. @w@ Which I love doing with just ordinary clothing. But I guess thats only if you feel like going all out. ( I also sewed some ribbon along the edges and decorated it a bit more with "cellphone bling." But not too much, to still keep it Lolli. )

You could always just cover it in paper as normal, then make sort of DIY stickers by printing pictures of loli things (like typing the book subject in a pretty font in whatever color would match your style) then cutting around it like a sticker and placing it face-down on packaging tape. then trim the packaging tape around the sticker with about 1/4 in. margin tada sticker! and then you can decorate your books!
Or cover them in plain white paper and draw on them youself. That's what i do! cheapest and easiest alternative IMO. wink you can even draw your own lace borders!

I bought some of the "one-size fits all" book covers. There was one that was pink with cupcakes on it, and I just drew lace on the sides with a white-out pen. XD Very simple and easy~

You could find a cute Lolita artwork and print it in color ( or black and white ) and then paste it on a long tabloid length sheet of paper. then staple or glue it. @___@ ;;;
i sorta did this with a "diary" book.

I'm sure the supplies are attainable at walmart's crafts section. I'd worry about OVERembelishment though...
If you guys make these could you please Post pictures!?
Punklolita book cover
supplies :
plaid (red n black ) fabric lace ( black if you can find it ) red and black ribbon If possible a Scottish terrier or a black cat. If that's not you then a cute skull would work but people may mistake you for a emo kid. tabloid paper and a glue gun. (or a stapler)
put on the fabric with glue or staples. then add the picture after cutting its shape out. Next arrange it in the center and glue it on top of plaid after this put on the lace and next the ribbon.
You can double layer the lace if you want to.
