Who recruited you?: Dragostae

Name: Adelaide Rowatt
Nickname: Addie
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Height: 5"6'
Weight: 125 lbs.

Race: Human
Social Class: Noble

Appearance: A young lady with a lean, fit body and light peach-colored skin. Her eyes are of a dark blue color and her hair a light brown. Her eyes are in the shape of almonds and her face is often a bit pale, due to the fact that as a younger girl, she often became sick and stayed inside. Has a slightly crooked nose after having broken it when she was only a toddler but does not stand out too much. Her hair length falls down to her waist, where soft waves curl in and bounce as she walks. Her clothes at home usually consist of elegant dresses and the like but outside, she wears clothes like a peasants' and does not mind being seen dressed so. After having learned to sew, she had gone to town and bought regular cottons and linens to make her own peasant clothes in which she would be able to wear outside and fit in with all the peasants around.

The dress she wears to school is of a light tan color, sewn with cotton material. The dress has a square-cut collar with long sleeves that fit snugly around her wrists, the sleeve puffing out a bit from elbow to wrist. The skirt of the dress falls neatly at her ankles and is slightly ruffled at its hem. Along with the dress, she wears a pair of brown boots that has laces at its side and a low, one-inch heel.

Personality: Adelaide is good-natured with those around her and tries her best to be polite with everyone. Almost always intrigued by something new, she will set out and try to discover new things in which she could jam into that brain of hers. She does not accept shyness from people so she talks to anyone and everyone and tries to make conversation. Not very easily intimidated by anyone bigger than her, she often finds herself in sticky situations and has to negotiate her ways out. She is one to prefer facts over theories but there are some things which she will accept. Adores to learn about the life outside her own, she takes strolls in town and observes the townspeople. She can often be on the sensitive side and gets angry rather easily. When she gets angry, she often has an ugly look on her face and talks back to whomever it was that made her so and argues heatedly with the person; it wouldn't matter if she was talking to her parents either. When she finds someone doing something she thinks is immoral, she will speak her mind and explain to that person why she thinks it is immoral. Addie hates seeing other people get hurt and stands up for other people if she can but tends to get herself into trouble also. She also drew images of the life in town. And due to her curiosity, she is not afraid of insects and the like; unlike many other young ladies.

Character flaws: Can be found to be rather naive at times and is sometimes too social. Though a curious creature and a noble, she is actually a rather slob and does not tend to clean up after herself too often. Her nose is slightly crooked and her lips are a tad to thin for her face. She is also rather fragile and gets sick and bruised very easily.

Background: Adelaide was born into a wealthy family of nobles on the 18th of August. Her family owns quite a few textile factories and other businesses as well. Although often sick as a small child, she would always wander off and look around even though her parents were constantly worrying about her. They did not approve of her going into town and be surrounded by all the peasants. Her parents were rather prejudiced and often talked to her about the many 'dangers' of being around peasants but she strongly disagreed and often argued with her parents about it. It is true that even though she was spoiled, she learned that as she grew older, having everything you wanted wasn't fun. When she explored the towns, she would see how hard the people would work to get what they needed and they seemed perfectly happy the way they were. While strolling the towns, she had noticed that whenever certain nobles would pass through on their carriages, people would bow down and speak politely to them. Seeing as how their attitudes changed towards nobles, Addie did not want to reveal herself as one to be able to talk freely with everyone and be like one of them.

Her private teachers found out that she was a very fast and eager learner starting from when she was at a very young age. When she could not get outside (most of the time due to rain and sickness), she would stuff her nose into the many books that her family owned in their library. She wants to know about the histories of the world and how things grew and how things developed and so much more. Addie did not care how long learning something would take, as long as she would be able to learn it.

When she found out that she could go to the University, she begged her parents to go and they had no choice but to allow her to go since they had so often allowed her to do what she wanted. And so she packed her things and headed for the University in pursuit of more knowledge and observation.

Skills: Arguing with facts, drawing, sewing

Belongings: A few dresses that she made herself, along with one elegant dress, in case anything special were to come up. Sheafs of paper and some graphite sticks; along with some of her drawings.

Character secrets: She does not intend on telling any of the people at school that she is a noble. The reason that she does not want people to know that she is a noble is because she thinks that they may treat her differently and she wants to be treated like everyone else. Though she thinks she's a rather horrible singer, she loves to sing.

Anything else?: Not really...

Who recruited you?: I was looking for literate school based guilds in the guild registry, and this was pretty much the only one that really stood out to me.

Name: Frances Brita Blomfield
Age: Sixteen
Gender: Female - Bisexual
Height: 5'8"
Weight: Approximately 125 pounds

Race: English
Social Class: Middle Class

Appearance: Frances, doubtless from the moment she was born, has always been a rather boyish looking character. Fitful when trying to be put into a skirt, but never daring to wear trousers like a boy, she has stood quite confused. Tall, quite so compared to most of the girls she's known, and thin, though not so much to be considered unhealthy. She never quite grew into a more feminin figure. Really very straight and curve-less. This has quite often caused problems socially. Naturally, she's a red-head. However she is quite fond of hair dyes, which she so often aquires by way of her cousin, a young lass who's family is in the business of creating such dyes and other hair products.. Most often, she will dye her hair a very vibrant red, and tends to use glues (Which of course, she would again get from her cousin, wouldn't you know?). The red is favored because she must take into consideration that when her roots start to grow out, she's not so fond of red roots and blue hair. However, she is also known to have worn other vibrant colors in her hair. The hair glue is one of the few things she refuses to be rid of, no matter how much she longs to be like the other girls. Her hair is a little less than shoulder length, and she tries to keep it that way, cutting it whenever it grows too long for her liking. Her skin tone is on the lighter side, hardly ever seen tan. Freckles dot her nose and upper cheeks, just under her stubborn looking grayish eyes. They could be considered brown, but are a bit too dull and look more gray than brown. Most often she will be seen in a skirt, though she does hate longer skirts indeed, claiming that they get in her way too much.

Personality: A fairly irritable personality. She can be rather touchy when someone brings up, say for instance, her less than feminin appearance, or name, which she is not fond of in the least. She does like to be a rebel, but is constantly forcing herself to behave properly. Although she would love dearly to cause a little trouble now and then, knowing that she must start acting more like a lady keeps her from doing so.

When she is irritated, she is not known to blow up, but will come at you with a sarcastic or witty retort of some sort. On the outside, she will try not to look hurt about something, when really on the inside, she could be crying. She would never let a person see her cry. She feels that it would ruin her pride.

But how is she in romantic situations? It's hard to say, because she's rarely been involved in a relationship more than two people being aquaintances. However, one would assume that she'd be quite flustered and nervous, being that she's so unsure of herself.

As said, she doesn't take to teasing/bullying very hard. She'll snap quickly, but will retreat just as fast, not wanting to deal with it any longer. However she'll take to kindness in a good way. She gets excited when complimented. Any positive reaction towards her she absolutely adores, and it immediately boosts her spirits.

Character flaws: Perhaps her biggest flaw is that she doesn't let people see that she's hurt. She will keep her feelings inside, while on the outside just seem rude. This can be harsh on what people think about her, and she's constantly trying to change that, but her pride gets in the way.

Not to mention that she is entirely unconfident in herself. While she was not teased in a way that it would effect her that drastically, the little teasing that she got was enough to bring her down to the level that she is at now.

Background: Frances' mother gave birth to only one other child before her, and that was her older brother, Alton. Perhaps it was this that caused her to be less feminin. She adored her mother, yes, and only wished that she could have her beauty, and her fathers strength was something she admired, but she mostly looked up to her brother. Frances was thirteen when her brother moved away at the age of twenty-one. Up until then, she had loved to spend days with him playing around and having fun. School had come rather easy for her until around that point, as well. She had a fast-working mind that loved to figure out puzzles, and she could easily complete her schoolwork. However when Alton left home, she grew slightly depressed. She had no other friends beside her brother, and with him gone, she began to see things were a little less cheerful than she had imagined.

Frances was lightly teased about both her figure and her name. She insisted that her mother and father had named her a good name, that was indeed a females name, but she could not deny that boys also shared this name and it sounded more like a boys name than a girls. Because of this, she most often uses her middle name instead of her first name: Brita. And her figure and shorter hair, well, that was pretty obvious. She tried growing out her hair and keeping her nails longer, and wearing fancier skirts, however it just didn't seem right to her. She had liked wearing trousers up 'till then as well, but nowadays, she wouldn't dare. She knew this would be cause for even more teasing. Going through this, trying to be more feminin and failing, and the light teasing, it injured her spirit, and she grew a bit more rebellious.

It was actually Frances' father who came across the school. A coworker mentioned his own daughter had just been enrolled, and Frances' father took interest in finding out more. He had already noticed the hardships that Frances was going through. He figured a change in schools might help her. Meet new people, come out of her shell a bit. He enrolled her almost immediately.

Skills: Other than her fast-working mind and her ability to solve puzzles quickly, she's skilled with a pencil and paper: Art. She keeps a small sketchbook that she will occassionally take out to sit outside and draw the scenery, or especially the beautiful women she sees walking the streets outside.

Belongings: Frances does not have much in the way of belongings. She has a few sets of clothing, mostly consisting of long skirts (Usually she will roll them up from the top to make them appear shorter. She doesn't enjoy wearing long skirts.), and some nice blouses. She keeps one pair of trousers, just in case, but has yet to wear them. Besides her clothing, she has three of her favorite books, which she loves to read constantly, a small sketchbook, several pencil, a feather pen and ink, several multi-colored inks that are everywhere from red to blue, hair glue, and a comb. She keeps no jewelry,

Character secrets: There are only two secrets that can be said she carries with her. One is her wish to be like all the other girls. Beautiful, feminin, polite. But she knows that it's impossible because she for one, looks too little like them, and two, her personality keeps her from this. Nothing dreadful happened in her past that she likes to keep secret. So the only other secret is that through her want to be just like the other girls, she developed a slight attraction towards them. So although she claims to be heterosexual, and has never admited to being bisexual, inside she has that small attraction towards the other girls, and most likely would not refuse a relationship towards any female she develops a "crush" on.

Anything else? Perhaps, her love towards her older brother could again be mentioned. He was always her best friend, and she looks up to him more than anyone else. Other than this, everything should be covered.

RP Sample: It was quite obvious that the day Frances saw approaching her was to be as dull and uneventful as the previous one. Currently, there was not much to smile at, nor to frown at. Of course, there was the occassional event that caught her attention, but truth be told, Frances Brita Blomfield was not easily amused the past few days.

Looking out the window beside her bed, Frances managed to catch a glimpse of the blue sky between the dense clouds that had shrouded the sky. It showed promise of rain. Just as quickly as it had appeared, the sliver of blue beneath the gray had been once more concealed. A soft sigh escaped her lips, and Frances, or as she prefered to be called, Brita (But we'll keep on calling her Frances, won't we?), turned away from the window. She was still dressed in her night gown, a long-sleeved garment of a dull green color. Had it been brighter, Frances would have looked like a Christmas ornament with her brightly colored red hair.

The sixteen-year-old retreated to the bath, stepping quietly so as not to awaken her room-mate, who had yet to stir from her slumber. Fifteen minutes from then, skipping the details, we shall, Frances was sitting before the vanity desk in their dorm, glaring into the mirror with a distasteful expression. Her long fingers wrapped around a few strands of hair and she tugged, sticking out her tongue at her reflection. It was only slightly obvious, but she was in need of dying her hair again. Her less vibrant roots were starting to grow out. Oh well, she'd re-dye her hair that weekend. Perhaps cut it, as well.

She towel-dried her hair, using her comb to gently relieve it of all tangles, before opening the small container of hair glue. She considered spiking it outwards, as she normally did, but quickly closed the jar. For once, she would simple wear her hair down. It wouldn't hurt to keep it that way for a day, would it? Besides, it was Friday. She could allow herself to be lazy for just one day. It wouldn't harm.

Once more, shall we skip ahead? It was not long before Frances found herself in the hallways of the school, walking quietly amongst the other students. Her books were in her hands, her head dipped so she wasn't looking straight forward, but instead at the ground, as she walked. It was a bit of a relief for her that her assumption was wrong. Her assumption that it would be another dull day, that is. For ahead of her, she heard quite a commotion.

"Nhn... What's happening?" Frances inquired, directing her question towards a girl from her grade that was also trying to see what all the fuss was about.

"I don't know!" The other girl replied, though her face was flustered and she looked excited and curious. "Let's go check it out!" With that, she grabbed Frances by the wrist and began to tug her towards the source of the noise.

((I felt the need for some dialogue, which is why I put a walk-on roll for another character in. I honestly hope that it was good enough. I worked on this for about two hours, so I hope it is accepted and anything that is not accepted, I will change.))

After having stepped out of one of her family's carriages, Adelaide Rowatt, with her lone suitcase held in one thin hand, stepped into the large university that would now be her home. Hair bouncing, she swiftly walked around the campus in search of the dormitory wings. Stopping after walking a few yards, Addie's eyes searched around for any signs. "Now... let's see here..." she muttered softly as her eyes gazed slowly from one place to another. "Ah!" she exclaimed, "That must be it!" Addie then started walking again but this time, with a sure location in mind.

Addie noticed a few signs in front of two different paths, one pointing to the Girl's Dormitories, and the other to the Boy's Dormitories. Obviously, she took the one to the girl's side and observed her surroundings. She saw many doors along the hallway and looked at the little name tags beside each door. When she finally came upon her room, and another's, she opened the door, which was unlocked, and stepped inside. Placing her suitcase at the side of one of the metal-framed beds, she stepped over to the window and looked outside. It was so big, she sure hoped that she wouldn't get lost.

Turning around, Addie plopped onto the bed. "I'm so happy I got the chance to go here!" she exclaimed out loud into the empty room. She got back up again and opened her suitcase in order to unpack. Taking out her dresses one by one, she hung them up in one of the wardrobes and placed her paper and drawings on one of the desks. After she was done, she lay back down on the bed with a satisfied sigh before closing her eyes and drifting off into sleep.

Frances Brita Blomfield. Sixteen, tall, and, she had to admit, a bit nervous about attending the University. Violently red hair spiked outwards as usualy, though hanging quite limp in comparison to her usual styles, Frances approached the University, nervously chewing on her bottom lip. Her suitcase gripped tightly in her left hand, her right hand clutching her sketchbook against her chest, she glanced over her shoulder at the retreating carriage, from which her father was waving cheerfully to her. She did not return the gesture; she simply nodded, and turned to face the school once more.

Now, to find the dormitories. She thought to herself, as she started to walk once more, pushing the retreating carriage from her mind as she tried to focus on the school. The carriage was not her parents'. They had simply been using it for the task of bringing Frances to to school, trying to make a good impression.

What was the point? No one was there anyways! Frances huffed, dragging her suitcase across the campus as she headed to the girls dormitories. She spotted the signs, and turned down the path leading to her respectful dormitory.

Frances was a slight bit shocked to see someone was already in the room when she arrived. She stood at the open door, blinking furiously as she stared at Addie. "Ehrm..." She mumbled lamely. "You're Addie... Then? The name tag..." She made a small gesture to the name tag on the door. "I s'pose we're roommates, then?" She finished, just as lamely. She pretended to be quite interested in the name tag, and then frowned as she really looked at it. She had the urge to rip it right off. Of course, it said 'Frances Blomfield' on it, when she preferred to be reffered to as Brita, her middle name. She scowled.

[ Meh.. It's alright. Now that I have her coming back into the room from the common room, I'll just say she already got back when you come along~ That works! Yay! I'm smart. ^__^ ]

Addie returned to the dorm room and noticed something that she had not seen before. On the name tag, there was actually two names instead of one. 'Frances Blomfield' it read. Hmm.. Well, it looks as though I have myself a roommate. she mused. Her mind was still focused on what kind of costume she should wear the ball... it was quite a toughy.

Walking over to the wardrobe, she tried to think of which of her clothes she could alter to fit the theme... She opened the wardrobe door and her fingers glided along the dresses she had already hung. Her fingers stopped occasionally as she searched her mind for some sort of idea when she thought this dress or that dress would fit.

After a few minutes of doing that, Addie turned around at the sound of a soft voice. Her head tilted slightly, she looked at the person who had just entered. Listening to what the person said, Addie slowly smiled in response. "I suppose we are. You are Frances Blomfield, then, I presume?" she asked, her eyes glancing quickly at the name tag and then back at her roommate.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 10, 2006 5:35 pm

After talking a bit with her roommate, Addie excused herself to get ready for the ball. The theme was... A Midsummer's Night Dream, eh? Well, she would see what she had that would be mendable. She walked over to the wardrobe in which she had placed all of her things and dumped it onto the bed.

Addie rubbed her chin a bit in thought and finally took one of her simple forest green dresses and altered it as quickly as she could. Adding a bit of gold-type lacing around the collar of the dress and some slightly around the arms of the sleeves which came down to her elbows and flared out. Around the center of the dress she sewed a long lace ribbon and finished with a little brooch that held an emerald gem.

Standing up after having finished, she held the dress out in front of her and smiled, satisfied with her work and hung it over her arm. And then searching through her suitcase, she took out a pair of black flats that would go well with the dress and with that, she went to get changed. Along with the outfit, she twisted a chunk of hair on each side and tied both in the back with a green ribbon. With that, she was ready for the ball.
