Judging from everyone's intros, there seem to be heaps of anime fans in our guild! I thought it would be nice for everyone to have a place to talk about their favourites and why they like them!

My daughter got me hooked on watching Full Metal Alchemist.
She loves anime and knows alot about the different shows and mangas. She is an excellent artist too and loves to draw anime characters.
I think she could spend her entire day watching, reading and drawing anime if she could get away with it. smile

I used to be really into it back in high school. It was awesome to watch all of it, Sailor Moon was my first series. I guess I'm just not as into as I used to be. It's so darn expensive and I don't have the anime on demand channel since I got rid of Time Warner cable.

I'll admit that I am still a hradcore anime fan, but I have friends that are around my age that still watch it as well, so I don't feel bad or guilty about it.
I have ridiculous amounts and I perfer to watch it instead of american television in general, except for the news, of course.
Too many favorites to count, but right now I am watching the following:
KIBA Utawarerumono Bleach Kasimasi Fate/Stay Night Marchen Awakens Romance (MAR) The New Hellsing Karin Mai Hime/Otome Tsubasa Chronicle (2nd Season) XXXHolic (Not what you're thinking, trust me.)

Hey another KIBA watcher, for some reason I've been having trouble finding other fans of that show. Other shows I currently watch Bleach, Naruto, Saiyuki, FMA, Ronin Warriors, Sorcerer Hunters, Sorcerer Stabber Orphen, YnM and i'll stop there cause it's a long list.

Kinda depends on what your interests are, though Naruto is extremely long(180+ episodes and still going strong) Bleach is up to episode 83. Ronin Warriots is rather old(I got introduced to it back in the 90's and it's where I got my net name from)

What is Bleach about? I'm not a huge fan of weapons and fighting -a little is okay, but I'd rather the storyline wasn't based around that...

Bleach is pretty heavily focused on the fighting(it's shonen what else can you expect) But at the same time the characters and some the more politcal drama during the Soul Society Arc is extremely nice.
To give a brief summary, when a human dies their soul goes to the Soul Society where they "live" until they are reborn in the human world. Sometimes a soul doesn't crossover and becomes a spirit, Shinigami exest basicaly to guide spirits to Soul SOciety and fight Hollows(spirits who have become monsters) It's focused around Ichigo a boy who posessed a high level of spiritual power and can see spirits and is given the powers of a shinigami while still alive.

I'm an older-school anime fan... Macross, Cutie Honey, Captain Harlock, Vampire Hunter D and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Sadly, very few people remember Gunbuster anymore, which is a shame, because it's a great OAV.
Some of my all-time favorites are... Petshop of Horrors Escaflowne El Hazard Ranma 1/2 Plus all the ones I mentioned above.
I've seen tons of anime, although not much lately, since I'm too poor to spend the obscene amount they ask for DVDs, rental places here have almost no selection, and until just recently I was on dial-up (so no downloading for me!).
But some newer titles I've seen and liked are... Sgt. Frog Monster Hana Yori Dango (although the manga is better) Kyou Kara Maou (I've cosplayed from this one)
As for good titles for beginners, I'd suggest Cowboy Bebop. Everyone seems to like that one.

Doressa You seem to be the resident expert so far...what's your favourite? Favorite of all time is Cowboy Bebop because of the anime and the music. I like jazz, so it works. Second is Gungrave. It was made by the same people who made trigun and the same composers of cowboy bebop, and it's absolutely amazing. And mad props to KIBA watchers! I haven't had time to get online and see the new episodes, but I will once this move is over!
