The only "shota" I've ever seen was a doujin from Gundam Wing and it was...very extreme. It was like, Five year old Trowa/20 year old character whose name I have spontaneously forgotten.
If not in the extreme context like that, then I think Shota's adorable(as long as its reasonable)

It's definitely not my cup of tea. I honestly don't care about the characters being underage, but I hate art in shota. The kind of cuteness you are talking about makes my eyes hurt, it's just something I can't stand. >.>;
If it's pr0n, I might read it for the smex, but mild fluff is something I'd never touch. Grown-up men drawn in seinen-like style - that's my thing.

I like shota. =3 Like Melkoshi said, anything generally over 11. xP The whole under-ten thing is disturbing.
I also like fluff. Just not overly disgusting will rott my teeth fluff. PWP without the porn. No thank you.

I suppose it depends on how young we're talking. My shota motto: As the age goes down, the fluff goes up. Keep to that and I am okay. I also don't like under 10 with over 16...

The boys of shota are so super cute! If it was all snuggly fluffy stuff I could just coo at it happily, but once these super-underaged characters with no sense of sex actually start getting nailed and crying all over the place, it's just so wrong.
I can't see the great infatuation. Hell, I can't even figure out how these guys with oversized members get it into little preschoolers without causing permanent damage to their soft and squishy internal organs! eek
So yeah, I've seen a bit of shota, like Elle to Takara, but I'd like it a lot better if it was just a fluffy gen series with boy love hints than hard core squickage.

I've never really seen any but I did see just a small scan on some site. I was like "What's this? Look interesting" but I've never seen anything else besides that. I'd like to see more though.

Shota = cute. I don't know about you but I like it... I do agree that if it's really underaged it's just kind of wrong (10-under) and not hardcore please.

I guess I was always a bit confused as to what the difference was between Shota and just plain old shounen-ai. Now that I know what it is...I guess you say I'm a Shota fan. A BIG one...O.o I'm emebrassed...
As I've stated somewhere else before, I take only the fluffy cuteness. Anything hardcore is just not for me, and as I'm sure we've always realized it, the younger, the cuter wink
I just never thought of it as being Shota before...but all my favorite pairings..the oldest any one of the two is 22. Wow... redface

Um...have any of you actually seen real shota? I'm not talking about the fan stuff with two digimon characters kissing or young teens making out or anything like that. I mean, actual real hardcore shota, because it's not all this fluffy stuff that you're making it out to be. Real shota involves young, young, young! boys in graphic sexual situations. Like preschool young. There's a lot of fluids and tiny flushed faces, a lot of crying and a lot of "no, no, no!" Roy Mustang and a teenage Ed is nothing in the face of the reality of shota. These are real shota boys from real shota manga.  No matter what the definition seems to imply, this is the real face of shota. And that's just the innocent stuff. There was a lot of crap I can't show because it's so graphic. This is the stuff that people go to jail for eek Still think you're into shota?

Fan fluffy shota, yes. I'm not into hardcore yaoi, let alone that stuff. I consider the shota I'm comfortable with to just be young teenagers. :/ Like I said, above ten and not too large of an age difference. D: Stuff like that is disgusting, Major Tom, I agree.
