I'm new to the guild, and I've looked through all the thread titles to no avail.
Are there any other scribes about? One of my greatest pleasures is creating elaborate scrolls to be awarded at events. I've yet to do the "official" onces, except for my own family, but I've done a lot for local use.

Sadly, I'm not one...though I do much admire the work of those with the abilities!

I'm picking it up by bits and pieces. I'd love to learn more.

Llelwyn I'm picking it up by bits and pieces. I'd love to learn more. It's a lot of fun. I've learned a lot by studying scans of period manuscripts. They used a lot more colors and shades of colors than I was first led to believe. They got playful a lot of times, too, with all sorts of things hidden in the borders. I'm having fun playing with borders now. Edit for PS: If you want to come up some weekend, or whenever you're off work, we could practice together.

It's one of the many things I want to learn. Illumination Embroidery Better cloak, shirt and dress making/patterning/sewing period (for my persona specificly) eating utinsiles and dress dances and songs heavy fighting or fencing (I've been 'claimed' for both by various practitioners, told I would be a natural at fencing)

I'm taking a break from calligraphy right now, to rest my hand. We have a local event in five weeks, and I'm getting the awards done. I have a huge scroll (22x24 inches) that I need to transfer onto the good paper, but I find that I'm out of big paper, so I have to drive an hour to the store that carries it. I'm anxious to transfer it so I can get the real work done on it!

*ears perk* Did somebody say scribe? I'm still learning, but I've got a pretty good command of textura quadrata now, and a decent uncial and half-uncial. I did a scroll for my mother for her birthday and just about went cross-eyed inking the knotwork border. I'm still utterly hopeless at acanthus leaves, though. crying
Medieval Calligraphy: Its History and Technique by Marc Drogin is my bible, especially since I can't make it to scribal nights.

Those are beautiful! I am very impressed. I tried my hand at illumination and calligraphy, but I haven't done anything serious.
