Fox hunting is a time-honored tradition of the Fallguard. According to legend, their ancestors used to hunt foxes alongside the humans, and in order to honor that, they began their own hunting season. In times past, they would hunt the wily foxes and show their trophies through fur pelts and the like.
However, recently it has become apparent that fox numbers are dwindling. In order to preserve their history and festivities, an agreement was struck to work alongside the foxes in a game of chase rather than killing them outright. The Fallguard would benefit by continuing their tradition, and the foxes would benefit by getting food for the winter and not being killed during this season. With that said, relations between the two species are shaky at best. Fights will occasionally break out between them, and the Lost Rook is tasked with keeping the peace.

What do you do?
During fox season, you can participate in hunting roleplays, though the goal IC is to obtain acorns from the foxes! At the start of your roleplay, you'll roll dice to see what outcome you'll get. After that, simply continue your roleplay as usual and, once completed, log it here in this thread. The goal is to obtain as many acorns as possible.
Acorns have two purposes:
1. You can spend those acorns on IC items and titles. For a list of what you can obtain, see Points post below this. **Please remember that these are IC items only, and not actual edits being added to your character. 2. Every point/acorn your character(s) earns counts as a ticket into a semi-custom raffle! More info on this will be posted below.
IC Rules:
- The goal is to collect acorns from the tricksy foxes. - The foxes are within their rights to trick you. Even if you've caught a fox, you haven't won until you've collected the acorns they're holding. - Again, this is still a shaky agreement between foxes and wolves. You can expect tension between them. - Killing a fox during this will bring severe punishment to the wolf in question. Don't do it unless it's something heavily plotted and approved by me first. - For this season, the Lost Rook is tasked with keeping the peace. This means breaking up fights, monitoring chases to make sure it stays safe and fair for everyone, etc. If you own a Lost Rook member, you can assume that they're also doing this! - Rogue / passerby dire wolves can enter this event! Ethereal can as well, though they'll be stared at with suspicion. Berserkers, however, cannot participate.
OOC Rules:
- Don't have a Fallguard member? Don't worry about it! You can participate whether you're a member or not. - An acorn = a point. - Acorns will only be applied to the characters involved in the roleplay. - Regardless of what happens, all characters will receive a point for submitting a completed rp. Additional points are awarded depending on what you roll at the beginning of the rp. - If there are multiple people rping in one rp, you each need to submit a form for your points. (person A can post to get their's, but can't post for person B's points. B has to do it them self in order to get their points logged) - Points you accrue can be used at any point during the event. However, once hunting season ends, you will only have the following month (February) to spend them! The foxes will stop giving out acorns after that. - If you have excess points during that spending month, you will be allowed to gift them to another character (including to other players) so they can spend them on IC items. However, this will not count towards the receiver's final point count in regards to the raffle. That will be solely on them. - If you would like to do rps outside of hunting rps (i.e. ones where your character will lose a fox regardless), you're more than welcome to! This is good for if you've got a specific scenario in mind that you'd like to rp.

How to Play
To play, roll a 1d10 at the beginning of the roleplay for each character that is participating. (so if there are three characters in the roleplay, you will roll three dice) The following is what will happen to your character(s) during the roleplay:
If you roll a 1...
You manage to catch a fox, but after getting insulted and scratched at, a fight breaks out between you two. You and the fox have lost bits of fur by the time a Lost Rook member shows up, and after getting scolded, you're forced to leave with nothing but injuries. +0 points
If you roll a 2...
You can smell a fox close by and follow the trail. The smell is so strong.... but then you find fox dung instead. They must have left it there to trick you. Gross. +0 points
If you roll a 3...
You manage to corner a fox! However, the fox smiles slyly back at you and practically purrs, "My, what a smart one, you are." She approaches with a coy sway in her gait, rubbing up under your chin until her tail flicks against your nose, "Here's your prize then...."
Please roll a random number between 1 and 2.
- If you roll a 1, the fox whips around and bites your ankle, causing you to flinch back enough for her to zoom off into the trees. You've lost her! +0 points - If you roll a 2, you manage to outsmart her before she outsmarts you, and grab ahold of her before she runs away! She huffs angrily at that and coughs up the acorns you need to prove yourself. +3 points
If you roll a 4...
A long chase ensues with a silver fox! They weave back and forth in front of you, but in the end, they trip and tumble to the floor. "Ow...." Jaw clearly smarting, the silver fox looks back at you as you approach, a grumpy look on his face. "Dag nabbit, I didn't even want to play this stupid game.... Just take the stupid nut." He tosses the acorn to the ground before turning and hobbling away. +1 point
If you roll a 5...
You spend quite a while searching but to no avail. That said, you could swear you keep hearing a taunting giggle from somewhere around you, but no matter how hard you search, you can't find them.... +0 points
If you roll a 6...
You've barely begun your search when something black, gray and white skitters by you. A chiming giggle breaks out of her as the fox pleads, "Play with me! Play with me!" And then she takes off into the trees.
Roll a random number between 1 and 3.
- If you roll a 1, you end up chasing her for quite a while. She laughs joyously the entire time, darting to-and-fro, and even hops across you from time to time. Night seems to come quickly and unfortunately, you never manage to catch her. However, she seems to stay near you, and before you can walk away in defeat, she approaches you with a huge grin. She thanks you for the game and hands over all of her acorns! +4 points - If you roll a 2, you manage to catch her! (how long it took you is up to you) She pouts slightly, but it's easy to tell she's still happy. With a giggle, she drops a few of her acorns. +2 points - If you roll a 3, you can choose to say you either caught her or gave up - but you did so immediately and she was incredibly unhappy with you. With an angry growl, she bolts away from you when you're not looking and disappears to find someone else to play with. +0 points
If you roll a 7...
You come across a black fox just... sitting there in a clearing. He's got a bored look on his face and is holding two acorns in his mouth. Before you can say anything, he nonchalantly drops them at his feet and turns to walk away without a word. +2 points
If you roll an 8...
You search for hours without finding anything. +0 points
If you roll a 9...
You find a fox hole in the ground, and decide to dig up whatever is inside of it. Doing so uncovers one very unhappy fox, and he rants at you for destroying his home. A fight starts to break out between you two, drawing the attention of a nearby Rook, and, furious, he chucks a single acorn at your face, almost taking out an eye. The raccoon steps in then, forcing both parties to walk away. At least you get to keep the one acorn? +1 point
If you roll a 10...
Choose what happens! Regardless, you will receive +2 points
You can decide which character gets which roll, or, if you're roleplaying with someone else, they can choose to roll for them self. Don't forget that you will always receive 1 point for completing the roleplay!

Semi-Custom Raffle
Each point you accrue during this event will give you a ticket into a semi custom raffle. At the end of the season (beginning of February), I'll be rolling two prizes. The first person rolled gets first pick of either of the following:
1. A semi-custom wolf dog! They must be a part of the Fallguard and must remain here for at least a month. The winner will get to choose gender and a max of 2 stock items as well. 2. A semi-custom raccoon! They must be a part of either the Fallguard or the Lost Rook, and must remain there for at least a month. The winner will get to choose gender and a max of 2 stock items as well.

The 2020 Fox Hunting Season is now closed!
Belloblossom, as the only entrant (posted over on the Ayrea website), you get a choice between the wolf dog or raccoon semi customs! Please let me know which one you'd like and provide the following for them: a color palette / image, gender (if wolf dog) and up to 2 stock items. (you can choose no stock items if you'd rather as well!)
As the stock edit page is being worked on, I'll go ahead and list the current stock items for both!
