I've had a lot of different reactions to this question. What do others think of your interest in Anime / Cosplay. Some say it's my hobby. Some say that I'm silly or too old to be interested in these things. Others go huh!! In other words they don't know what you are talking about. Then their are those special people who say excitedly, me Too!!
Here is a poll of my family: Wife - It's your thing not mine. Sister - She's Ok with it. Brother - Big time into Anime / Cosplay Mom - She tolerates it and thinks I'm too old for it. Dad - No opinion one way or another. Niece and Nephews - Big time into it. (They are 20 to 30 years old) Me - Big time into it for the last 10 years (I'm 56 now). It was a casual interest before then.
Every now and then I will randomly be talking to a stranger and all of a sudden Anime or Cosplay comes up!! The last time was at a movie theater before the movie started.
So what do people you know think about your interest in Anime & Cosplay?

Well for me this is what it's like:
Mom: At least you have a hobby. Sister: I'm a cosplayer, maybe we'll do team ups. Brother: I'll only do certain cosplays, but I'm not a cosplayer. Oldest Half Sister: Awe Culture at it's finest. 2nd older half sister: I want to cosplay too. Step-Dad: You're a whole other level of nerd. Husband: I'll wear it if you make it. MIL: That's cool. Grandparents/Aunts/Uncles/Cousins/In-Laws/Cousins in law: You're awesome and you do you. Nieces and Nephews: Aunt A, Aunt A can you make me an Iron Man/Batman etc costume.
I think I'm pretty lucky that I grew up in a family of nerds. My uncles played DnD in the 70s, my step-dad is a Trekkie, my husband and younger siblings (and all my male cousins). My other sisters are all culture geeks. My husbands family does DnD/Pathfinder and are fantasy writers.
