Cherry Opal bounded with excitement to the park today. Daddy had set up a meeting with her school friend, Rocket, in the park. She tried her best not to get too far ahead of Copper but couldn't help it. "Hurrrrryyy!"
"We'll get there soon."The pair went thru the gate to the central park and set up under a shady tree. Cherry danced around in the grass with excitement.

tab Rocket trailed after his dad, eyes wide in anticipation. Riot was taking his time, as usual. He wasn't a slow walker by any means, but the guy liked to consider his surroundings. He was always on edge, Rocket noticed, but he was both too young and too impatient to care.
tab "Dad," he pouted, voice heavy with frustration. Riot looked back, laughing with a tone that hinted at his own amusement.
tab "That's me; Dad." His voice held a certain mirth to it at Rocket's expense. Rocket rolled his eyes, huffing in exasperation. "Sorry shortie. We're almost there. In fact... that's the gate."
tab "I'm not short," Rocket protested, although he took the chance to speed past his dad and through the gate. He wasted no time once he spotted his friend, instantly bounding up with a bright smile on his face as Riot caught up.
tab "You got here first. Dad's so slow." Rocket shot a glance at his dad.
tab "Thanks for comin' out here." Riot addressed Copper, still not used to the parent talking to parent dynamic. s**t, he felt old.

Copper chuckled. "No worries, I can tell already why they are friends. So MUCH energy." He motioned to his little picnic set up. "I brought some drinks and little snacks.""Rockeeeet! You finally made it!" Not that the wait was actually long. Cherry hopped around ecstatically. "whatcha wanna do? we can check out that one play set or the pond is always fun!"

tab Riot laughed lowly. Energy was right -- Rocket was more work to keep up with then the intensive workouts he did at the gym!
tab "You're a life saver," he exhaled. He hadn't thought to bring anything and now he regret it. Next time. Rocket had been tugging him out the door too fast for him to consider food or drink. He settled at the picnic set, eyeballing Rocket and Cherry for one second before turning his attention back to Copper. "Rocket's been lookin' forward to today. He almost bulldozed me out the door."
tab Rocket mirrored her hopping, easily excitable. He didn't have many friends, honestly. He tried! But Rocket also was very energetic and liked to explore and had more stamina than most kids. Not many could keep up! Cherry, though, was a welcome friend and could mirror his own energy.
tab "The pond! Maybe we can find something cool! Ponies are always dropping things in there!"

Copper smiled. "Cherry and I spend a lot of time here so I started to make sure we had some creature comforts" He lifted a can out of the basket. "Want a brew?" "YAH! Letsgo! letsgo!" She bounded off with a giggle towards the pond as if it was a secret race.

tab A brew? He considered his options, eyeballing the kids. Maybe just a sip or two.
tab "Sure, but maybe just a sip. But maybe sometime we should get brews together when the kiddos are asleep?" He didn't want to get too tipsy when he was on kid duty, but later? Why not? And having a dad friend sounded nice. He reached over, accepting a can. "Thank you."
tab Rocket chased after her, not even glancing back at his dad. Most likely his dad was watching, anyway.
tab "You don't mind getting dirty, do yeah?" He chirped as he landed right onto a log.

Copper doesn't drink often but today was one of those days. "I get ya. I usually don't drink the whole thing either. I brought extra water and juice too." He sighed. "It's just been a long week. We moved not too long ago and things are still getting settled." He settled on to the picnic blanket. "Having some kid free time sounds nice. So you can count me in." He smiled at Riot. Cherry jumped and glided along side Rocket. "Nah! You?" She plopped onto the log and laughed. The top of the old log crackled. "Sometimes, there's bugs in these!" She said with hushed excitement.

tab Riot laughed softly. Moving? He knew those woes.
tab "Movin' is the worst. Had to do it twice already in the past year." He paused, cheeks flushing as he rubbed the back of his head. "Hell, if things go well with Rocket's mum... I might be movin' again." He could only wish!
tab Bugs? Rocket eyeballed the log with an eager glint to his eyes. Unfortunately, he couldn't see any, but what he did see was.... instantly he perked up, almost leaping into the water in excitement.
tab "There's something inside the log! Can you see it? It's moving!"

Copper couldn't imagine moving twice in a year, once was enough. "Oh? good luck man!" He gave a wide grin, nothing like love. "What's she like?" Cherry peered into the log where Rocket was indicating. There was movement! "OOOH!" She scratched at the log's cracked surface, trying to make the hole wider.
