- tab Riot Doll nervously shuffled hoof to hoof as he stood by Blepicorn's door. This wasn't his first visit, of course. Not by far. He had been over her house ever since day one, visiting at all hours just to ensure the kids were okay and she had the extra hooves she needed. He had stayed over a few nights in the beginning, ensuring the crying babies were tended to so Blepicorn could get a few hours of deserved sleep. Rocket lived with him, but the other two stayed with Blepicorn. She was outnumbered, so Riot made it a habit to keep himself firmly planted in her life.
tab That, and he loved the kids, really. He never thought he'd take to fatherhood, but here he was. He was still a ******** up in his own eyes, but the kids were something he hoped he was doing right.
tab As many times as he visited, though, he was still nervous with each one. He had met Blepi by chance. They had been brief friends for a moment before all this happened. At first, he had hated the idea of children. When Seraphim dropped the baskets with that cruel smile he had counted his ill-luck with a scowl. It wasn't that he didn't like Blepicorn, it was that he was, to himself, a screw up. Riot was still reeling from the past mistakes he'd done and now kids?
tab It hadn't taken him long to grow a smile on his face when it came to the kids. The third parent he held bitter words for; they hadn't shown themselves since the initial dumping of a child onto Blepi and Riot honestly wanted to never see the guy again. But Blepi? The increased exposure and honestly seeing her be a fantastic mother had done something for him. His heart had begun to skip. His chest grew tight. He found himself no longer calling the number of his ex and instead looking at his phone and wishing Blepi had one.
tab And now he was in this situation; nervous at her doorstep.
tab Rocket, on the other hand, wasn't having his nonsense. The boy eyeballed Riot and then the door before narrowing his eyes harshly. This was ridiculous. He wasn't dumb -- he knew his parents weren't romantically together but at least one of them wanted that to change. He was tired of this, frankly. His dad was a mess, and it was stupid. He ought to just confess, really.
tab "Oh my four, dad, look, this is how you knock." Sass seeped from him as he reached up and violently attacked the front door. Riot jolted, snapping his head over and gently grabbing Rocket's hooves with a look of mortification.
tab "Rocket. That was so loud!" He wheezed at his son. Rocket tilted his head, mouth in a pout.
tab "That's the point."
