Story

As we all know, history is a lesson to be learned from. Some history we know to be true, other parts of history have unknown factors we can't explain or some parts have been lost we make theories and stories on what may or may not have happened. In the year of 2018, one such story has circled the globe for many decades. Arthur and the Round Table. King Arthur and his knights. Him and his knights were known as legendary warriors, peace bringers, heroes of their world.
Here I bring you yet another tale of these figures.

In the current year of 2018, some high school students are about to learn a lesson that no other has before. Some magic from the old world has started creeping into our current reality. These students will experience firsthand the old tales. But a secret they could never imagine will shatter their reality and turn them upside down. Will they be able to survive?

Bio/History: Vincent's life has been rather privileged. He had the good fortune of being born into a wealthy family, son of a successful businessman and former highly revered college professor. His family's name, social status, and wealth were all advantages that he quite often used to get ahead in life, but this usually came at the cost of his social interactions. For most of his life Vincent was sheltered by his parents who wanted nothing but the best for him, which included preventing him from going to public schools. Academically he was mostly taught through private tutors and the only people his age he was able to have contact with were children of families of equal status. However, Vincent did not care much for these children as they always proved to be the same kind of rude and entitled people, they were so full of themselves they failed to recognize the simple fact that the world doesn't revolve around them. Whenever Vincent did speak to these people it was generally at gatherings and meetings that required his parents and himself to attend, though most of the time he tried his best to avoid everyone because he knew that all the conversations would be dreadfully boring. While Vincent wasn't attending his academic studies or the annoying gatherings he spent most of his time with his physical education and athletic tutors, taking special interests in forms of combat and swordsmanship at the young age of 12. This led to most his properly developed social interactions being left between that of teacher and student, disciplining him and teaching respect for those who offer wisdom.

As he went through most of his life, Vincent remained a rather introverted and antisocial individual due to lack of contact with the real outside world. Though he knew nothing about this "real world" he still craved interaction with it because it would prove to be a new experience. He had no real idea as to why his parents didn't want him to go out into the public or have any friends that weren't from established families, he only had speculations and theories. Vincent could only guess that his parents didn't want him interacting with people because they thought that lower class individuals would do nothing but drag him back due to inferiority. That idea upset him greatly and led him to arguing a case for himself with his parents, pleading to allow him to attend a public school for his senior year of high school so that he could decide for himself whether or not people of lesser social standing were truly inferior and would stunt his growth. They were hesitant, but agreed to the plea figuring that a single year of public school could not undo several years worth of superior education and that his grades would make him look better by comparison.

So with out supervision Finn grew up to be a wild child, getting into fights, and trouble. Even though he claims he was just "Defending his honor or protecting some one else." (Finn doesn't have the most trustworthy feeling to him)

He is quick to fight and brawl others but has the kindest heart and a way with animals having grown up around him his whole life. Finn prefers animals over humans due to how he was raised that has also caused problems in his life. One time when Finn saw a kid his age beatting up a dog, he completely lost it and charged at them with a large stick and started beating up a kid when he was . When the cops brought him home later they made a deal with Finns father that it was about time Vince went to the city and got proper education from there.

So Finn went to High School as the brand new transfer student no one knew anything about. An in the first day he had already landed his self in detention due to not standing by and letting a kid get bullied. This how ever amongst the girls and some boys made him somewhat of a idol hero, where they fawned over him every time he went to school. But just as well this landed him in more fights with jealous boy's who hated the fan club that seemed to be amassing around the idiot country boy new student.

Finn during his time on the Farm taught his self how to do Archer picking it up very easily to almost past a professional level. He also later in school joined the archery club and kendo club.

Age: 17 soon to be 18
Eye Color: Blue
Weight: 111 lbs.
Height: 5’6”
Strengths: Lithe, Master of escape and evasion, Enhanced stamina
Weaknesses: Finds it difficult to trust others, Fear of being abandoned and forgotten, Obstinate, Lacks public speaking skills
Abilities: Isshin-Ryū, Singing, Parkour, Climbing, Sling-shot, Long distance running
Weapons: Dual broadswords, Dagger, Bo staff
Armor: Leather armor- mainly gauntlets, shin guards, and chest piece
Role: Guinevere
Bio/History: Cameron didn’t have the best of childhoods. Her parents were killed in a plane crash while traveling for work one day. With her parents gone, the child was sent to live with relatives. Things seemed to be okay at first. But, little by little, things changed. At the young age of six, she started to run away from the home and act out. Time and time again, she was brought back to her relatives’ home only for the cycle to repeat again. This went on for three years. Until one day the perfect venire that her relatives portrayed began to slip. It was eventually discovered that they were alcoholics whom abused her physically and emotionally. Cam was taken away from them and placed into the foster care system. Unfortunately, the trauma of the abuse stuck with her and she became difficult to control. She bounced around from foster home to foster home. Each time the adults would apologize for their inability to keep her, citing her troubled past and desire to keep running away. A few of them went so far as to declare her a mastery of evasion due to her ability to avoid discovery by the police and searchers.

It appeared as though Cam would never find a stable home, if she even wanted to do so. That is, until the Sparx family came along. An older couple unable to bear children of their own, the Sparxs recognized her potential to be someone more than what even she imagined. They took her in at the age of fifteen and have never looked back. Their patience, kindness, understanding, and acceptance were unfathomable to her. Unlike so many, they refused to give up on her, despite her nature to flee and be gone for long times. That’s not to say that there weren’t rough patches. Of course, there were plenty of those. However, Cameron slowly started to lower the walls she’d built, allowing the Sparxs in to her world. A world that very few have been admitted into. Their love allowed her flourish; although, she still has difficulty with some things in social settings. Her trust is rather hard to earn and thus she tends to not make friends easily. Teachers can find her to be a handful as well at times, since she doesn’t like authority figures (with a handful of exceptions). Cameron is currently looking forward to her upcoming birthday and graduation and the possibilities they present.

Description: n/a
Age: 18
Eye Color: Blue
Weight: 173 lbs.
Height: 6'3"
Magic: Pyromancy and Clairvoyance
Strengths: Headstrong | Tactful mind | Resourceful
Weaknesses: Tactless language | Physically weak
Abilities: History Buff | Hand-Eye Coordination | Sewing
Weapons: x2 Daggers | Staff
Armor: Fur Cloak, Animal leather
Role: Merlin
Bio/History: Jay is the child of two renown scholars. Their mother is the principal of the local school, but this title is only secondary to her historical research and PhD in European History. Their father is a local archaeologist who works at the museum to preserve ancient artifacts. Both had been good parents to three boys, one girl, and one intersex child they had allowed to remain identified as non binary. Being stuck in the very middle, Jay grew up with all the company in the world. They had their tenacious older brother to teach them to never back down from even a losing fight, studious big sister to lecture them on the importance of an education, and two younger siblings they had the chance to teach about inner strength and individuality. Their parents had unfortunately remained busy throughout their youth, but Jay spent their free time roaming the local museum and researching archaeological excavation methods. Most of these methods involved minor explosives, which their father was all too happy to teach Jay about. Such days became little memories that piled into a dream for Jay--they wanted to grow up to become an archaeologist like their father. The time of happiness was shortly lived, however, when their eldest brother had passed away in a Subway stabbing when he had attempted to protect a woman from sexual harassment, only days before graduating high school.
After their brother's death, fourteen year old Jay went from being mild-mannered to crudely attempting to pick up where their brother dropped off. They presented them self as more male, became more headstrong, and picked fights where they knew they stood no chance. This led to a general honors student to also become a regular dean visitor. While Jay's parents allowed their child's coping mechanisms continue, they grew persistently worried about Jay's future. They had been accepted to several universities renown for their archaeology departments, but their ambition and anxiety over the coming of graduation had been building up to create a more temperamental Jay. What few friends they had were shut out, leaving them to feel alone in an emotionally important moment in their life.

Starting

As the end of this school year comes to another close, graduation is only days away for the seniors. The last few days of school are as riled up as ever, both the students and teachers alike are ready for the summer to begin.
This year, there is to be no summer school held because of construction going on to make the building larger for the bigger student base at the beginning of next year. For a few students, the end of this school year, will mean much more to them, then it will any others.

The bell dings. First period of the final day has begun.

Raenna sat with her heads in her hands, elbows propped up on the table. She looked on to her history teacher with a glazed expression in her eyes. On the norm, she loved history. She read plenty of articles that dated back several decades and further. In her head, she could make any form of writing come alive. But when Mr. Slaghorn spoke, he sounded like a monotonous robot who wanted to do nothing more then to drone on and on about nothing. She had a hard time not falling asleep in his class.

She smacked her cheeks to give herself a quick wakeup call. This was her last day of school and he was saying his goodbyes. The least she could do was pay attention to him on her last day here. Making a quick glance around,
she noticed most of the students were doing the same thing. Some of the slackers were asleep of course, but those were the ones who were barely graduating anyways, they didn't care about being here. Raeanna had a bright future ahead of her. All AP classes with straight A's, track star, and sports athlete of the girls side of school. Most of the time only the boys would compete with her because the girls hated her. This honestly suited Raeanna just fine, being around girls made her nervous. She had known she was gay since middle school and ever since finding out, it made the locker room a lot more difficult for her. She knew it wasn't a big deal to be gay anymore, but since most of the girls didn't liek her anyways, she never even thought to bring it up. Most of the guys who had asked her out just assumed she wasn't interested or snobby.

Taking a look out the window to the left of the classroom, the room was on the second floor of the school building. It overlooked the track field outside. She yearned very much to don her track suit and go for a run in this perfect weather. Currently she was wearing her usual school clothes, her hair was bound up in a high ponytail. She hated her hair in her face and braiding it herself was almost always too much effort unless she had a championship match she was in the middle of. For now, she returned her attention to the teacher and waited.

This year has been rather....liberating. Vincent, being the introvert he was, tended to stay in doors and avoid most people his entire life due to his parents' desire to keep him away from anyone they didn't approve of. However, Vincent had been granted the chance to attend a public school this year and though his face rarely conveys his inner thoughts, he both enjoyed this chance and was a bit upset that the year was coming to its end. The final day of school was today and he had made next to zero friends, sure there were people he talked to occasionally in different classes, but most people came to him with their hands out. First period for him consisted of History class, not his favorite subject but he still managed to get an A, and quite a few sleeping students who lacked the ability to stay awake long enough to hear the farewells of their teacher. Disrespectful. Though, Vincent had to admit that the speech seemed rather asinine to him, after all once these students' real lives began they would forget him in a heartbeat.

As he sat straight up and attempted to pay attention, Vincent felt his gaze being pulled to the light sound of smacking. His eyes fell on a fellow student by the name of Raenna, a curios individual of tomboyish design. Where as most girls seemed obsessed with the latest trending clothes and make up, Raenna presented herself as a more rugged female heavily interested in sports. She was often avoided by the other girls, the guys that approached her did it for one of two reason: to challenge her in a sport, or attempt to hit on her. For Vincent it was quite amusing to watch her shut down people so easily, they either were very bad at getting the hint that she wasn't into them or they were incredibly persistent. As Vincent observed Raenna so closely he watched her shift her vision to the window that allowed her to peer outside, she appeared to think fondly of it and to be day dreaming of something she'd rather be doing. A sharp exhale/sigh combination escaped Vincent as he was able to relate to that feeling, he'd rather be wrestling or practicing kendo than to be sitting in here and listening to Mr. Slaghorn. Perhaps someone would provide some entertainment by interrupting him or causing a scene, but he's never really that lucky.

The weather outside was gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. Not a cloud in the sky. The sun shone bright, filling the world with its early morning rays. Birds could be heard chirping their tunes from where they perched in the trees. Outside was where everyone should be. Instead, however, they were trapped. Trapped inside of a school room, listening to their history teach drone on and on about whatever his current kick turned out to be. Cameron hated it. She hated being cooped up inside on a beautiful day like today. The old her would’ve not thought twice about skipping out on class in favor of hanging out under the trees near the track. But this was the new her. Someone who’d promised her foster parents that she wouldn’t ditch class anymore. The girl whose grades went from an abysmal “F” average at the end of junior high school to a far better “A” average because she deigned to show up and care. Granted, she maintained her slacker attitude for the most part. Cameron didn’t see the need in letting others know how much she truly worried about her grades. It wasn’t any of their business, after all. Thus, she may have shown up to class, but her mind wasn’t remotely there. She lay slumped over her desk, head resting against one arm, while gently poking at a pencil with the other and staring absently out of the window.

Cameron would’ve been content to stay in her own world until the end of the day. It certainly would have made time go by faster, in her opinion anyway. If not for the faint sound of a smack nearby, she probably could have done it. Alas, she was drawn back to the present and its boredom. Her penetrating blue eyes drifted towards the source of the disturbance. Raenna Heartstring sat a little straighter than most, though she possessed the same dazed look as many others in the classroom. Can he be any more boring? Cameron rolled her eyes. Slaghorn had long since perfected the art of lulling his students to apathy about history. For proof of that one needed look no further than the aforementioned track star. Heartstring always paid attention in history class. She seemed to thrive on the subject. While Cameron, on the other hand, could care less. There were aspects of it that she enjoyed, to be sure; even so, history bored her. Slaghorn never helped matters either. To add to the trouble of the day, it was their final day of high school. Graduation was just around the corner and Cameron couldn’t wait. The possibilities of what she could do, where she could go, paraded through her mind. If only the day would go faster. Cameron heaved a sigh. Where’s a time machine when you need one?

    • Had Jay not known otherwise, they would assume Slaghorn had intended to bore each of his students to be distracted from some grand scheme involving a secret extra credit project or wise words as each student in his class anticipated graduation. Unfortunately, Jay knew all too well that this was not and never will be the case for any class taught by Mr. Slaghorn. He was a predictable by-the-book teacher with little to no unique input on history to provide to this class full of honors students, and that bored Jay relentlessly. One of the best parts of the high school kid's soon-to-be graduation will be getting rid of the mundane and uneventful classes provided by teachers who knew less than them self. Ignoring any other emotions tying to graduation, Jay focused on balancing an un-sharpened #2 pencil on their desk, perfecting a balanced technique with ease. For someone who considered themselves unlucky, Jay had a knack for being lucky with small things in life. Finding a parking spot without having to parallel park, getting two extra toys in a UFO catcher game, and even something as simple as balancing wooden pencils on their desk was an easy task. Their older brother used to call Jay a magician over such feats, to which Jay would respond by pouting at such a lame nickname. They preferred something far grander, such as a sorcerer or wizard, or rather any kind of magic user in the Forgotten Realms of Dungeons and Dragons. Even something as far-off as a druid sounded cooler than being called a magician. Magicians were for kids' birthday parties. Wizards were for battling dragons. The distinct difference always became a fond moment of conversation between the two siblings, enough to the point where Jay could smile now just thinking about it.
Unfortunately, Slaghorn's class was not the best place to daydream of old days. While the old man was infamous for his bland lectures, he was still a teacher worthy of respect. Leaving the balanced pencil on their desk, Jay allowed their piercing gaze to observe their fellow classmates. It wasn't often they shared an honor's class with such interesting characters. Natural tomboyish beauty Raenna, infamous rich boy Vincent, prior flunky Cameron, and class idol Finn just to name the more memorable ones. Being the principal's kid had its perks, and among them was knowing who everyone was without actually having to talk to anyone. Jay was sure they had a reputation them self. Principal's kid, loud mouthed punching bag, good kid gone bad, honestly they knew little else of how others perceived them. It mattered little. After all, school was already coming to an end for this graduating class. Making friends so late into their high school career wouldn't make sense for anyone.
"Yawn", a small bodily instinct escaped Jay's lips, attempting to mute it for the sake of Slaghorn's dignity. Sitting in the back meant it was likely it went unnoticed. Jay had looked at the clock, surprised at the astonishing amount of time left in this class. Their eyelids drew heavily as they rested their chin in their hand, keeping their eyes open ever so slightly as to show their supposedly undivided attention. Last night was a long one full of late reading over whatever new artifacts their father had been expecting to arrive to the museum later today. Looking over new exhibit shipments was one of the few bonding moments Jay still had with their father, much to their father's delight. A second hand with heavy artifacts is always appreciated. Considering it was later today that their strength would be needed, they contemplated for a short time on sleeping in class just to gain strength for later.

=====================================================

With: History Class //Where: History Class//

=====================================================

Finn was one of those students, a slacker to a almost professional stand point. His head was currently laying on the table as a pool of drool amassed slowly on the desk. This like most days, Finn was fast asleep behind the man, Vincent, in History class. Where, after a moment Finn was snoring rather loudly behind the man yet again. Every day the same thing, though, today it was particularly loud.

Finn was also man who always showed up to the class with new bandages on his body and was only ever awake long enough to take his seat. Yet this red haired slacker was a particularly popular around woman for some odd reason. Maybe his looks or due to his somewhat southern accent he had. Today he had shown up with bandages wrapped around his fingers and bandages over his knuckles, with a slight red showing threw the bandages adorning the knuckles on both of his hands. He had C grade average all around, barely passing in everything but PE. In truth his only redeeming quality at this point must had been his skill in archery. A skill that had earned the school all most all competitions but one in archery.

Finn however hearing the sounds going on in the classroom suddenly woke up and he shot out of his chair shouting... "The big yellow one's the sun!" The class stared at him and started giggling before the red head sat back down in his chair, rubbing the back of his head. He hadn't slept much but even more so due to the fight he was in last night were he got caught in a alleyway by a group from the neighboring archery team, from another school. Furious at Finn for winning the last match for the season.

Finn wiped the saliva off his desk reminiscing in his head about what had happened last night. It was always so common, even worse since he didn't live in a good part of town while attending the school. Finn having moved out here had, had to support his self and went and got the cheapest place he could live. An days like this it came back to bite him in the a**. Finn crossed his arms laying back down. Though he noticed a group of girls far away giving him googly eyes, a yawn escaped his mouth slightly. In retaliation to the incessant stares he lifted his black back pack after pulling his hoodie over his head and used the bag to cover his face to shield it from the girls.

A lot more than just the group of girls sighed as Finn hid from everyone. Eventually how ever Finn fell back to sleep. Evident by his snoring. He didn't bother examining or remembering anyone in the room to much, he knew at the end of all this, they would go there serpent ways, that snobby rich boy, Vincent, that sit in front of him. That Finn all ready dislike due to his status would most likely go to lead a corporation some day. While he ran to work back on the farm where his pa was. All Finn wanted to do right now was sleep and that is what he did, his snoring growing ever more frequent and louder right behind Vincent.

Story

As the first bell began to go off, suddenly, everything froze. Only those who were chosen were still aware of their surroundings. In a booming voice,"Heroes! Help us!"

The bell finished ringing and everyone was talking and crowding the door, eager for the rest of the day to be over.

Raenna was looking at the clock, ready to go. Her next three classes were a breeze. For next period. she had study hall, since study hall was basically a free period, the teacher would let her go down to the field to run. After study hall, she had gym, then cooking. Her harder classes were later in the day. As the minute hand finally ticked, the bell began to ring, only to stop midway. She cocked her head to the side confused.
She looked around and saw that no one was moving. Well, except Vincent,
herself, Jay, Cameron, and...Finn, who was still snoring away. The others were just like statues. Frozen in mid place of talking, stretching, or in Mr.
Slaghorns case, mid step. She was starting to freak out and was about to ask the others what was going on when a loud voice rung out in her head!

She put her hands to the side of her heads, blocking her ears to try and stop the noise from entering. But she realized that wasn't going to work. As fast as it had happened though, it was all over. She looked around and the bell finished up and all the kids were heading for the door, the teacher included.
She was freaking out though. She made it a point to talk to the others before they would leave though.

"What does man love more than life, fear more than death or mortal strife? What the poor have, the rich require, and what contented men desire?"

ŦhoughtsWhat the hell was that?

First period seemed to drag on endlessly for everyone in it. Slaghorn was one long winded individual content with lulling his students to a slumber with his annoyingly monotone voice, but stuck with nothing else to do Vincent felt himself being rather complacent in listening to him droll on. He looked around at the students surrounding him once more, his eyes continuously moving from student to student, looking for something interesting but nothing truly presented itself as such....well except for one person. Perhaps the only student that Vincent could say he disliked, though the right phrase would probably the one student he had little respect for, Finn was snoring obnoxiously loud behind him. Vincent knew very little of Finn other than he seemed to always be tired and always covered in bandages. He chalked it up to Finn being someone who was use to getting in trouble, or possibly him being abused at home, whichever the case there was no cause for Vincent to get involved and he chose to ignore Finn's snoring. It wasn't until the noisy oaf sprung from his sleep with a loud blurt out of nonsensical words that even managed to put a curious look on Vincent's apathetic face. Had he been someone that was confrontational he may have said something to the redhead, but instead he shot him a single glance as to assess what just happened before looking forward.

As the bell began to go off Vincent let out a sigh of relief, his next period was literature and he was rather excited to speak with Ms. Darden for a final time before leaving for good. He neatly placed his items in his bag then began too stand up, but as he was moving about he noticed that the bell had slowed to a stop with an unfamiliar noise. He looked from his possessions and saw an entire classroom filled with people frozen mid action. Was this a flash mob of some sort that he wasn't notified of? No one moved with the exception of himself and four other classmates. At first he wrote the whole thing off as a prank but as he looked around he noticed a pencil suspended in animation, floating about a meter and half from the ground, there was no one smart enough in this room to pull off a prank good enough to trick gravity. Vincent was perplexed and looked around again until a voice broke the silence and spoke out. "....Heroes?" Was all Vincent managed to say before looking back at his four other non-frozen classmates, but then time snapped back into sync with the real world and everyone was moving again as if nothing happened in the first place.

Cameron Rayne

████████████████████████████████████████████████

Mr. Slaghorn was taking forever to finish. Longer than usual it seemed. Of course, that could just be her desire for the day to be at its end. Cameron recalled there was a scientific name for the way time slowed down when you wanted it to go faster. What it was, she couldn’t remember at the moment, but knew that it was likely in effect. Please let this eeeend. She lifted her head slightly before letting it drop back onto her arm for emphasis. No sooner had she done so then a shout from behind her echoed throughout the classroom. Glancing over her shoulder, the teenager caught sight of Finn Yusei looking rather dazed as he slunk back into his chair. That’s one way to stir things up. She snickered and shook her head. The red-head always came to school tired and bandaged in some way. While Cameron didn’t pry, she was well aware of her surroundings and the people residing in them. That’s how she came to recognize that Finn often got into fights for the right reasons but wrong times, that Jay was the Principal’s kid with a knack for odd things, that Heartstring was good at pretty much everything except socializing, and that well-to-do Vincent valued his time in the public school for whatever reason. These were just a few of her classmates that she’d come to learn things about. Some were more interesting than others, these four included. She even caught herself wondering what things must’ve been like for them, growing up in the ways they had. And I’m doing it again. Cameron realized as she snapped back to the present.

She couldn’t be too hard on herself for slipping into her inner thoughts. Slaghorn simply asked for it with his droning speech. Things weren’t going to get any easier for her in the next period either. After history came pre-calculus for her. A subject she loathed entirely and to the deepest core. It befuddled her to no end how she could hate something so much yet still pass it. Likely due to the added efforts of her foster father- a veritable whiz in the subject. That’s why, when the bell finally rang, she had a mixed reaction. Oh, thank God finally. She felt a mixture of elation that she was free at last from the tiresome Slaghorn’s history class, yet peril at being subjected to her nemesis of math. Cameron lagged behind at her desk in a bid to keep away from that class and Miss Snitch- no kidding, that was her legitimate name- for as long as possible. As normal as the day seemed thus far, it took a turn for the weird in an instant. The bell started to fade midway through its chime before dying out completely. All around her, students and Slaghorn alike stood frozen in their movements. Time stopped dead in its tracks. Save for herself and four others. Raenna, Vincent, Jay, and Finn were still capable of roaming about. “Umm,” she had no clue what the heck was going on. What the hell’s this? Why were the five of them the only ones not frozen? As if in response, a loud booming voice resounded inside of her head. The raven-haired girl wasn’t alone in that too, if the reactions of the others were anything to go by.

Then, as fast as it’d begun, time jolted back to normal. The bell finished ringing. Everyone else continued with their endeavors like nothing happened. Just the five appeared aware of anything out of the ordinary. “I’m not the only one that saw that…right?” Her tone echoed the confusion written in her blue orbs. The fact that she even said anything to them about it bore witness to her need for confirmation she wasn’t going crazy.
