Whatever your personal reasons, you've found yourself drawn by the plight at the Dwarven city of Coppersledge. Residing in their mountain city, there has been a plight they've been suffering from, and they've expelled all non-Dwarves from their city. You know how Dwarven pride is.

The stories from the refugees who have been forced out of the city is that the Dwarves have turned hammer and shield against the very mountain they reside in. Many of these refugees assume the Dwarves have simply lost their minds.

At the foot of the Coppersledge mountain, as the dense forest begins to thin, resides a large log structure, far bigger than the traditional cabin. This is the Embassy, set up by the nearby human nation of Jharvell, who has done so to have both a waypoint and a steady presence with the Dwarves to maintain their mutually beneficial trade relations. Dwarves need to eat, and Humans love them some gems and jewels.

Tell me, adventurers, how are each of you arriving? Are you here independently, or are some of you here as a small group? Or have all of you arrived here as one big party? Describe your arrival to the Embassy door, and introduce yourselves.

Slowly trudging up to the door of the large Embassy Lodge, a man huffed and puffed, trying to draw breath back into his lungs. Why did he decide to come out here again? Oh right, the chance to get some sort of money to help recoup his recent expenses. Maybe even learn some local dwarven cuisine. Still, why did he not find some sort of merchant that was heading this way he could get a ride with?

Isres Zess, Wizard. Wielder of the Arcane Arts. And still paying off school debts six years since graduating. His clothes were all dark, either black or blue, ranging from his leather boots to his long cotton coat. On his back was a brown leather backpack, filled with adventuring gear, and topped by a bedroll and tent. Dull brown eyes hid behind a pair of horn-rimmed glasses, covered by the bangs of his brown hair. On one hip was a carried tome. His hands tightly held what would appear to be a wooden walking staff. Closer inspection would see flecks of silver ingrained in the wood, which was delicately carved to look like a collection of vines that twisted together so you kept loosing track of which was which.

With another gulp of air, he'd make his way inside, pushing the door open slowly and hoping for a receptionist he could talk to about assisting here.

....and mercenaries needed money, regardless of whoever offered it. Aelgeirr took a swig out of his water flask as he walked towards the "embassy". He'd learned of this place in Jharvell's capitol. It seemed to have the opportunities he was looking for....or at least opportunities he thought he could handle. At the very least, he could maybe find a few more leads for work. Outfitting himself with better equipment had taken most of Aelgeirr's funds from the last job, and the warlord had miles to go before he could even thing about attempting his ultimate ambition.

Thusly, the tall, blonde elf entered the embassy. He was clad in chainmail, his helmet covering the head of the spear he carried over his left shoulder. Aelgeirr's right hand was on the pommel of an eladrin style long sword and at his left hip was a decidedly uneladrin hand axe.

He'd step out of the way of the entrance and then scan the room, taking note of the human talking to the receptionist and the other occupants of the room. If it was anything like the last job, perhaps one of eight was really worth anything in a fight. Hopefully he should be so lucky.

The doors to the embassy suddenly burst open and through them came bounding a small girl dressed extravagantly in a red and white dress and wearing an enormous pack on her back. With her short stature and long floor-length, golden blond hair tied up into braids, one might have mistaken her for a dwarf. But her slight, willowy build gave away her human lineage. Pausing only momentarily to fiddle with the wing ornaments on her red and white cap, she would smile broadly to the rest of group. The other two adventurers towered over her by at least a foot.

The girl offered her hand to shake and spoke in a high, melodic voice. "Greetings everyone, I am Tawny Tonson, but most everyone calls me Tonton. I heard the dwarves were having some odd troubles with their mountain here and I want to offer my help. I'm sure there are also great works of art here I'd like to witness and protect. I look forward to working with you all."

They said dwarves had great memories- primarily for grudges, but ultimately in all parts of their culture. The remembered their ancestors, and their ancestors, how they shaped the stone, what ales they'd crafted, what gods they'd worshiped or etched into the stones...

She'd thought they all were for Moradin, almost to a one, but even if this seemed like a long shot it wasn't as if she was drowning in a sea of leads on this matter, and besides- dwarves tended to make large cities, great places full of trade, rumors, and opportunities, without any unfriendly faces to dodge. Besides that the thought of towering over a whole city amused her. So, Lin had hitched a ride with some merchants a little more than a week back, coming to the city to see what information or coin she could turn up.

The news that she was not, in fact, allowed inside the city had thus been rather concerning. Still, with nowhere else to be and lots of stories about all that might be going wrong, she'd sat around waiting for some manner of opportunity to turn up at the trading post, in and out of the embassy as best she could to try and turn up a rumor without getting anyone eyeing her for a ne'er-do-well. It was unfortunate that these kinds of places were so very fond of counting their things, but sure enough, opportunity had presented itself eventually anyway.

It seemed other persons of a mind to do more than trade and wait, armed parties, were drawing here before long. It was promising- in particular, she liked the loud one, smiling as she burst through the door. Loud ones were usually more fun and, in her experience, made better unwitting distractions if she needed. Smiling, she peeled herself away from the wall where she'd been peeling an apple and souring over her luck, pocketing the small blade and slipped in next to the heavily armed elf, making herself a part of this ragtag group of apparent volunteers assembling while eyes were on Tonton. She took a bite of her apple, slipped the rest into a pouch, deciding she could work with this- just like shaping a rumor.

"I hadn't heard the dwarves were ready to accept outside help- surely, something must be done if it'll help solve whatever troubles are so bad as to keep Coppersledge closed," just loudly enough to make sure not just Tawny or the elf, but the room as a whole, heard the suggestion. She wasn't sure if the dwarves were accepting any help yet, but if everyone else somehow got that impression, she was on board to make a way into that city.

Call it the heed of steel, or what ever you wish, But following the events of his home town, Thork couldn’t stand the slow life of farm work. He needed more... With a shield from Kassandra, a hammer a reward form the people of Clearwell, and a new pack from Mother. Thork followed the first word of adventure he heard over a pint of ale.

Upon stepping out of his carriage, Thork made his way into the embassy. Humans, mostly, and Aelgeirr, all of which were shorter than him. “Aelgeirr, Thork is glad to see you well.” Thork would walk up to the only one he knew and shook the eladrin’s hand, with or without his consent.

The adventurers would start to filter in one after another into the embassy.

Wait, did I say embassy? Judging by the looks of things, triage center was more like it. A handful of humans and half-elves were tending to many injured dwarves, who were in assorted states of injury.

"I thought all the non-dwarves had already left. If your injuries are not severe, please wait there," one woman would say, a thin human in her late 30's with fair complexion and brown hair to just past her shoulders, with a few streaks of gray already showing. She would pay you only the briefest glance before turning from the dwarf she had treated, seeing who she should turn to next.

Suddenly, she did a double take, looking at the lot of you. "Wait, you're not from Coppersledge!" she would say with surprise as it dawned on her. "We need as many pairs of hands as we can get. Please, we need help!" she would indicate, waving with a bloody hand towards the main chamber of the lodge.

The eladrin was about to respond to Thork's grasp by crushing the half orc's hand in his own....but his ploy was interrupted by the woman's plea for aid. Aelgeirr would let go of the farmer's hand and follow the woman. "I have experience in healing. Lead on." The warlord would start tending to the wounded as best he could. If Thork was near enough to carry a conversation, Aelgeirr would state "I thought you went back to work on your mother's farm with that big grain thresher of yours. The town looked like it could use you as it rebuilt, Thork."

Tawny’s momentary dejection at no one shaking her hand was quickly by her desire to help. As Tawny made her way to towards the main lodge she reflected on the lessons taught to her at the church she was raised at. God she was terrible at it. Again and again they had tried to teach her the basics of first aid and the healing arts and again and again she had failed to grasp even the basic principles. It seemed the only thing she was good at was chopping wood or using that hammer to repair the church walls. Perhaps that was why they had sent her to that hidden temple to learn her current profession. Well, she had come a long way since those days and had a little more worldly experiences under her belt. Hopefully she could translate some of those experiences into helping these poor injured folks.

The small human woman would burst into the main chambers and announce her presence. “I am Tawny Tonson from the church of Corellon and I am here to help!”

(15 Heal check!)

Tawny rushes toward the nearest injured dwarf she could see and begins to treat his wounds. Despite her abysmal results in the past she was amazed at how much she recalled from her early training. She immediately began to staunch the bleeding on her patent and treat his grievous wounds.

He gulped looking at people rushing to help bind wounds. He could try, he had some basic first aid training, but he stopped himself when some dwarves that yet had been tended to began grumbling loudly and overwhelming one of the nurses. Moving to them, he held his hands up in a gesture of peace. "Please, please. They're working as fast as they can. I understand that you all are hurt and upset. I'm certain that if you're not being seen, then it's because another is in a worse way than you are, or they are children that need to be seen to. I just ask for patience. I will also see what I can do to gather some books or find someone who can provide some entertainment to help pass the time. You'll all be taken care of."

Oh gods, he hoped they were reasonable people.

Shi wasn't exactly suited to treating wounds for anyone, so she figured if she needed to lend a hand, looking at the number of wounded and the urgency in the room, she'd best try playing to her strengths...

...until she heard shouting, wincing as apparently the tall man had that same idea backfire on him. Well. She could read the room. She'd rather let them work anger or fear out of their systems a bit and come back when they were just calm enough that she could make some good will doing it, rather than just playing damage control for the other man- she didn't know who here might be able to get her inside that city, but the fewer people against her the better. Instead, she stepped out of the way, dredging up materials for treatment from around the room, trying to fetch things and keep materials in the hands of those who actually knew how to treat the injured- other than putting them out of their misery, that is.

"Thork tell later." He would call back to Aelgeirr before rushing outside to find useful herbs, bugs, fire(alcoholic) drinks, and other things, he knew would have medicinal properties...

... Mother was a good teacher, as he returned with a small handful of herbs, and ale.

Aelgeirr

A warlord would unfortunately be accustomed to a battlefield of wounded. First step would be to identify the most badly wounded and tend to him. Doing so, he was able to find one such individual and staunch their bleeding.

Successes: 1

Tawny

Tawny would find someone who was pretty bad off, and tried to recite some of her earlier medicinal lessons she learned in her training. Attending to one dwarf, who definitely seemed like a warrior, she would be able to not only stop the bleeding, but assist them to such a point where they'd likely be able to recover quickly!

Successes: 3

Isres

One unruly dwarf seemed to be less than pleased at the bumbling attempts of one half-elf girl trying to tend to him. It was clear she was untrained in such levels as first aid, and definitely wasn't a nurse. Even the dwarf realized this. Time to play intermediary! Dwarves couldn't be THAT different to interact with than literally every other race, right?

...

After being shoved away and told to insert his staff into a rather undesirable orifice of his body, Isres would determine that he had, undoubtedly, failed.

Successes: 3, Failures: 1

Shi & Thork

One scavenging the embassy, one scouring the land outside, the two would find an assortment of makeshift supplies that would help the ambassadors and fellow adventurers tend to the injured, be it sheets or fern leaves. Somehow, Thork returned from the wilderness with an alcoholic beverage as well?

Successes: 3, Failures: 1
+5 to the next two Heal checks attempted.

Stumbling back away from some of the patients, he gulps and moves to see some of those that are being treated. The dwarves were hurt or poisoned or infected by illness from the mountain itself, a place of mazes and monsters and other horrors. So he should be able to identify what the causes were so appropriate measures could be taken to deal with them.

Aelgeirr would take supplies from whoever as he worked to stabilize those who needed it. The ale he directed Thork to pass out to those who looked to be in shock. "Something to get them into the here and now. We may need their help later. Don't know if Ale works as well as harder liquors when it comes to cleaning wounds." To the slip of a girl working near him he said, "Tonton, you said? Is this your first situation like this?"
