And Morenth has a backstory typed up now. Hopefully it's good. Unless there's like, some sort of backstory optional rule that affects things that I was suppose to pick from... I know 5e has something like that.

Rag: Nope, just character information I can use against you later. twisted The background themes found in PHB2, and a many others, are optional and they only give a bonus(+2 to a skill, bonus class skill, new language, etc).
Rain: Map/rule page, please.

What counts as a "backstory" in this regard?

His backstory is good, I was trying to be sarcastic and answer the "Unless there's like,..." part. sweatdrop
In my eyes a backstory is at least a paragraph of you. Where you came from, what caused you to take up adventuring, hobbies, parents, love interest... What ever you feel is important to share with me and the group about your character, or at the very least would come up in a drunken boasts/disputes. (example: stealing from your chief)

Yea, the Bloodscale clan is where I pull all my kobolds from. They've normally been 3.5/PF so they've been Dragonwrought and all. Morenth is the first to not be (unless something happens storywise later that grants it to him).
So, I needed a reason for him to need to be out and about and since he's a rogue... it felt right.

I have a question: Is our place of lodging that we are starting at the same place where Tom's office located? I noticed in the summary it said we are afforded free lodging for working for Old Tom, but I wasn't sure if its in the same building where his office is.

Yes, the same building.
For more detail, Old Tom's home and office are on the first floor. Your individual lodging is on the second floor.
Roughly, 10 ft x10 ft with a 9 foot ceiling: your room comes with a lock( which you and Tom hold the only two keys), a desk, bed, dresser, and chair. Anything else you add...

Do we have individual rooms, or one big shared room?

One person per room... Unless, if you young kids want to share a bed.
